A few more SSR questions

We're using our developer points at SSR in January, and I've never stayed there before. (Yes, we actually bought DVC without ever staying at a DVC resort...) We're a party of 5 - 3 generations going together, staying in a two bedroom.

Do all areas of SSR have their own quiet pools?

Do all multiple story buildings have elevators fairly close to the rooms?

What are some good things for my mother and her SO to do around SSR? (They aren't going into the parks; they're having a golf, swimming and babysitting vacation! I sure hope the last isn't wishful thinking on my part.)

At what point can I make an area request?

Welcome to SSR! We'll start with a frequently used map in the last day!

The Grandstand, Paddock and Congress Park all have quiet pools. (Springs
"claims" the main pool) The Grandstand pool has a kids water play area and a pool bar. Paddock has the playground nearby, and Congress Park has the quiet pool with the DTD view.

For Golf, Grandstand is a little closer to the LBV clubhouse and walking path to the west side of DTD (Cirque) and is more likely to have beautiful golf-course views and about as close to the main buildings as the Springs.

If you want a DTD view and an easy walk to the East side of DTD, the Congress Park is great.

All SSR buildings have one elevator in the middle. I guess that AKV has much longer walks to an elevator than any SSR building.

SSR also has the 2nd full-service Spa at WDW (GF has the other and people have said SSR is nicer) So a treatment may help grant your babysitting wish? Turf Club is also a very nice Lunch/Dinner restaurant.

At check-in you will get an activities guide (Some craft or other activities at the community hall) and a listing of a movie they show at the main pool at night (some nights)
You should make a request early (I think the "scheduler" puts it together 30 days out?) but if there is availability at checkin, you can change.

Besides the Grandstand and Congress Park quiet pools, there is a quiet pool in the Paddocks that is close to the Carousel section as well.

Each building has two elevators and they are located in the middle part of the building.

At what point can I make an area request?

Request it at anytime. Call MS and add your request to your reservation.

The map is great! Thanks for all the helpful info.

Grandstand may be our best bet. For pool reasons, I'm sure we don't want Carousel or the Springs... my mom swims every day and really prefers the quiet pools.

Can you request a golf view?

I believe you can request a golf course view. The more specific your request, the less likely you may get it. (You could request a specific room number, but the chances of the previous occupant leaving on your check-in day are very low) Requesting Grandstand, near the pool, near an elevator with a Golf Course view may be too much. (but I've never tried it)

I think most Grandstand rooms at least can look to part of the golfcourse (except the section of 8100-8400 that directly overlooks the grandstand pool)
It's hard to explain, but each building has 1 long flat side that is entrance only, and the other 3 sides have all the unit's balconies. (None of the 8500-8800 building looks at the pool)

I personally think that the views from the 2 far buildings is best (because you also see the river with boats going to OKW and POR, but the are definately further.

Questons---- I believe the Grandstand has the "fountain spray area" for kids? Is it also the first pick up and drop off for busses? I easily get the areas confused.

Yes, the Grandstand pool has the spray area for kids. The other quiet pools do not. It also has a soda station for the refillable mugs.

It is also the first bus stop for the parks. For the DTD/Typhoon Lagoon bus, it is the second stop.

I've seen a few posts mentioning that Grandstand is the first bus stop. Does anyone have the full order in which the buses stop throughout SSR? That way I can be prepared when we're down there in 3 weeks. TIA.

I believe "clockwise" on the above map, ending at Springs. (You can take any park bus to get to the main areas by, Springs) Except the DTD bus is supposed to run "counterclockwise" so you can get from Springs back to your resort.
