A few FD questions from a rookie

Been lurking here for a couple months, planning to make our first visit to DW next April. However with the free dining offer, we may make our first visit in September (as well as going next April).

We would be staying 7 days, 6 nights in September at a value resort, probably Pop Century. I see that the minimum to qualify for FD is a two day park ticket. If I stay 6 nights and only buy a 2 day ticket...

1. Will I receive 6 days of FD, one for each night at Disney, or just 2 days of FD, one for each day on the park tickets?

Since we still plan on visiting in April, we are interested in getting annual passes, specifically the weekday select pass. We plan on arriving on Sep 27, which is a Saturday. So if the answer to first question is 6 days of FD......

2. Will we be able to use our two day tickets on Saturday and Sunday, and upgrade those tickets to the weekday select annual pass?

3. If yes, would I be able to do this in the park that we go to on Sunday?

4. How does upgrading work, price wise? Do you pay the difference or is there some other formula? A 2 day full price basic ticket is $188, and the weekday select pass is $219, so would it only cost $31 to upgrade?

5. Would any of these maneuvers affect the 6 days of FD?

And lastly we have a 6 year old who unfortunately is picky but has a healthy appetite. I read something here that suggests you can pay the difference to upgrade her to the adult, or non-kids plan. Soooo.......

6. Do we just register her in the room as a ten year old and pay for an adult theme park ticket for her, or is there another way to go about it?

As I said we weren't planning on a September trip, but if it works out like i'm trying to make it work, it would be too good a deal to pass up.

I hope this doesn't come across as me trying to 'cheat' Disney, just trying for the most economical and logical deal possible.

Thank you for your patience if you actually read all this, and many more thanks if you can give me any help/advice......

Dining is based on the number of nights of your stay, so you would receive 6.

I believe the weekday select AP is for FL residents only (since that is where it is listed on the Disney site). If you live in OH, you would not be eligible for this.

If you do upgrade a ticket, you should just have to pay the difference between what you have and the ticket/AP you want.

No.

That is exactly what you do. You have register her as an adult and pay for her to have an adult ticket, but she would then get adult dining credits.

Thanks for the response. Just checked the AP's again and see that I was indeed mistaken. And it makes sense, because that would have been too good to be true, lol.

If you travel in Sept to take advantage of FD, make sure to check the bounce back offer while your on property. It could be a better deal than buying AP's if your only planning one trip in 2015. Also, I understand you said your DD is a picky eater, but please take into consideration, if you register her at 10 (disney adult), that will be 4 years of adult pricing for subsequent visits. Check out the dining pages with the menus and you will be surprised at the options available for kids. A child QS would make a quick snack for 2 adults and 1 child. and she could dine OOP. Just a thought. Happy planning!

Here's the question: Why do you want to do the dining plan?

First of all, it's not free, it's simply another discount. In your case, you'd be wise to choose a different discount, such as for lodging.

The DP is never a good idea these days; it will not save anyone money. And as soon as you start talking about upgrading a child to the adult plan, you're really throwing your money away.

Do yourself a favor, get a room discount and just pay food OOP. Or if you do get an AP, purchase a TiW plan and you'll receive true dining savings.

A room discount at POP wouldn't amount to much savings, this is the case where FD is the better offer.
