My last trip down... I included the week I just got home from as well.
1st. I LOVE the green lanyards. I think Disney did a fantastic job on this one. A lanyard only for the kids to trade off of. I liked it so much I peppered the lanyards with a few LE's of my own... I can't say enough about these.
2nd... The amount of CM's with lanyards seems to be up. And the amount of good pins on them (I even did a few lanyard trades) also seemed to be better.
3rd. The places to trade.
A... I think DTD has done a good job with the tables but need to work on the light. Other than a few tables you cannot see a thing.
B... The Contemp is still okay but I felt trapped by the fence and the regulars that just grab a table and sit there and use it as a social event. It made it very hard to trade and to talk to anyone new. We where stuck using the floor and for an old guy like me that took all the fun out of it. I only stayed here for less than an hour. I found it much better at DTD and I also found less of the heavy hitters at DTD and more at the Contemp...
C... CBR... Disney took care of the problem here. I have to agree with them. It was a mistake to hold it here as the area was WAY to small. And if I was paying for a room there and tried to eat in there I too would complain. Disney could have handled it a little better and the pin board that had planed a meet and greet there should have informed them they had a meet and greet planed for there.
D... All Star Sports... By far the best place. It was big enough for the social aspect of pin trading and to allow new traders to walk around and look and sit at tables. It is also close to a place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. I really like it here the best of the resorts...
E.... Pin Central... Okay why is this place so ignored? I know standing outside is not fun but they have all that inside area in the old Pizza place and great light with plenty of tables and room.... Seems to me Disney could and should play this area up more. Seems like a waste.
4.... P.I.N's... I like P.I.N's for it allowed me to have some low LE's to trade that where not sold at the parks. But I ran into a lot of people who treat these like rack pins. They kept saying you bought that as a buy it now so it is only a $10 to $14 dollar pin... Okay I agree... But when I asked this same person to trade his Mickey for Prez for a LE 500 Stitch pin he said I was nuts... Why would he trade an LE 1000 mystery pin for that? I said it was a good deal. A $12 pin for an $8 dollar pin... By his logic I explained to him he was making out... Be careful here folks. Some of these pins are highly sought after and some people will do what ever it takes to get them. Not all are going to be the "HOT" pin but they are still low LE's and hard to get and very EXPENSIVE...
Over all I was very happy with the way pin trading has gone... I would like to thank some people...
Jim Mathews... There are no words to express what you have done and how I feel about you. You are the MAN!!!! There is you and then everyone else.
Scoop.... You have done more for pin trading than anyone I know. You make sure all feel good and while I know Scoop is a character and the man behind him is paid to do a job... I also know the man behind him cares about all of us. Thank you for all you have done and see you around Main St USA.
Larry... and his Mod Squad at www.dizneypins.com you all have done a fantastic job in informing us and putting together a great cruise.
Joette (Grandma)... and her Moderators at www.dizpins.com you have also done an outstanding job informing us and keeping trading fair....
But my BIGGEST THANKS... Goes to all of the Cast Members and to all of you. You have all made this hobby fun. The CM's have shown great patience with all of us and we should make sure we go out of our way to just say thank you to them. Even if you are not trading a pin. Take a second and just say thank you.
