A few dining questions

Hi! DLR newbie. We've actually done the cruise the past three years, so it's even been a while since we've been in WDW.

I know that Disney calls 10 and up and adult, but what about for dining? Will DD10 no longer be able to order her favorite--chicken fingers and fries (big surprise there). And if so, does that only apply to sit down restaurants, or to counter service eateries too?

Also, I'd love recommendations for places to eat. I have a DS 13, and DD 10. We're no longer into character meals sad1: for me), but we do like good food. Please recommend the best places to eat, both sit-down and counter service, both inside and out of the park.

Definitely try Naples in Downtown Disney. Good pizza, even the smallest size is too big for one person. Rain Forest Cafe, LaBrea Bakery, House of Blues, all in downtown Disney are good. In California Adventure, try the Wine Country Trattoria - good food, good prices. In Disneyland, Carnation Cafe is good - if you happen to like meat loaf, try their meat loaf stack. River Belle Terrace is good. From what I hear, the Hook's Pointe Steakhouse is good in the Disneyland Hotel. I have heard that Napa Rose in Grand Californian is great, but is fine dining and pricier than everything else. But people say it's great. Hope those ideas help! I also love the Blue Ribbon Bakery on Main Street. Of course, Blue Bayou in New Orleans Square for atmosphere.

Anyone can order off the children's menu, regardless of age, so your 10 year old daughter will be just fine ordering her favorite chicken fingers and fries.

Disney is VERY accomodating to families who have pickier eaters, even if they are over the "10" age limit.

I recommend -Rainforest Cafe at DTD (great atmosphere, ok food)
-Naples at DTD (yummy gourmet pizzas)
-Blue Bayou at DL (delicious food and a fun atmosphere)
for Table Service.

-Hungry Bear Restaurant at DL (one of the best burgers at DLR)
-Rancho del Zocalo at DL (good Mexican with nice sized portions)
-Redd Rockett's Pizza Port at DL (pizza and pasta. mmmmmmm)

I definitely recommend Napa Rose, but you may want to save that for an adults night out. We just did New Year's Eve there & it was exceptional (both in quality and price). I'd also recommend Catal in downtown Disney. The Vineyard Room in California Adventure is also very good. If they're running the Electrical Parade and you time the reservation correctly, you can watch from the restuarant. We recently did this and the kids loved it.

All the ones I mentioned in my earlier post are sit down. Vineyard Room is basically the same thing as Wine Country Trattoria, which I recommeded earlier (you'll see what I mean when you get there)! Good food, good prices, sit down seating. We never eat at anything that is not sit-down, so all of the ones I recommeded earlier are fine for you, and they do all have kids' menus that usually feature things like chicken fingers. But don't miss Naples in Downtown Disney - great pizza!

Our family really enjoyed these places for lunch/dinner:

1. Storytellers Cafe in GCH: Had dinner there. There's a dinner buffet, where your child's age matters. However, if she's not a big eater, she can still order off the menu.

2. Cafe Orleans: Had lunch there. Some similar menu items with Blue Bayou. Seemed cheaper here. Really liked splurging on the beignets that are available here!

3. White Water Snacks at GCH: Burgers, pizzas, chicken nuggets with healthy options on the side (like fruit instead of fries). Big portions that you can share a meal between 2 people.

We've never had any problem with ordering off of the children's menu.

My mom does this all the time at Plaza Inn. We love their fried chicken, but they give you WAY too much. The kids meal comes with just a leg (her favorite) and fills her up.
