a few comments from 1st timer just back

I would love to have you as a tablemate - with such a fascinating hobby it would be great conversation! Don't let those snooty dinks get you down!

I can sympathize with the tablemates problems others have had.

Our experience was a little different. Our tablemates were very socialable, but also somewhat bigoted. My husband and I joust (on horses in armor) and belong to a middle ages recreation group. Our tablemates did not know this. The first evening, they were telling a story about these weirdos they met in a park who wore armor and pretended to be King Arthur. They went on at length to talk about what losers these people were and why they couldn't just be normal and how they didn't want their kids exposed to them so they went home.

From the description of the armor and the activities, it was pretty obvious that these "weirdos" were from the same group that my husband and I belong to. In the interest of keeping the peace at the table (because we didn't know then that you could request to be switched) we refrained from telling them that we were a part of that group too. Since the jousting is our primary hobby and a very important part of our lives, it made for rather stilted, "how about that weather?" conversation for the rest of the cruise.

gweeptrish, I too am sorry this happened to you. Really I am. But I have to say-what are the chances of this happening? The odds must be really small! I have never heard of your hobby, but it does sound cool. My husband, of course, has heard of it and filled me in. He loves that era and enjoys all things that have to do with it. The sad thing is that they could probably have learned some great stuff from you and changed their opinion!

Back to the topic, I also am pretty social and love to meet new people. We greatly enjoyed the 4 other people at our table and they (with the great servers) made dinner a very soecial time.

Thankfully, we were blessed with really nice tablemates in March, and we had great chats over dinner. Two were slightly more shy, but ate at Palos several times. Wish we had been seated with Grumbo and family that cruise: think we would have been in stitches all week! His warped sense of humour is the BEST - especially about his good ladies' shopping adventures!

With regard to noisy cabins: we always take wax ear plugs (available in chemists everywhere) - since we had a very noisy room at Port Orleans Riverside - right by the loudest A/C unit in the world! Nat:Pinkbounc

I'm sorry about the tablemate situation. We had some less than friendly tablemates on our first cruise, but the rest of us seated together had a great time.

Just an FYI, check out "Housekeeping" in the link: Cruise Updates

This could explain the pillows being extra high. :D
