What port will it sail out of - San Pedro?
Any good hotels nearby?
Do they have shuttles to the port?

I believe there's a Holiday Inn nearby that has a shuttle to the cruise terminals. Not sure about others.

San Pedro, for sure.

There are clusters of chain hotels close, Best Western, Comfort Inn, etc.

Not sure about transportation to port though. If you are AAA members, you could get a tour book from the local office.

I found a Sheraton right across the street that is supposed to have a good cruise package - $99 with a bottle of wine, buffet breakfast and free shuttle to the port. I hope they have this deal when we get closer to cruise time.

The Sheraton and Best Western seem to be right by each other, Holiday Inn is a block or so away, and then there are some other hotels also in the area, not quite as close.

The Holiday Inn has several "cruise packages": Fly & Cruise (fly into LAX, transfer to the hotel & transfer to the port), Park & Cruise (park your car for free @ the hotel, transfer to the port), and Rail 'n' Sail (train into LA, transfer to the hotel & transfer to the port).

FYI - I have my TA looking into getting us a block of rooms @ the Holiday Inn.

We stayed at the Hilton San Pedro for $40 via Priceline. They have complimentary shuttles to/from the Cruise Terminal. In hindsight, I wish we would have stayed in Long Beach. There just wasn't that much to do in San Pedro. It's more of an industrial area. Long Beach, although further from San Pedro, has much more going on and a wide variety of hotels.

Apparently Hilton doesn't have a hotel in SP any more - not listed on the Hilton website nor is it listed onthe SP website. We'd have preferred Hilton because we're Hilton Honors members & could've earned points here. ;)

We are doing the CA- FL repo cruise and will probably be hiring a car at the airport. Does anyone know if there are any car rentals that do one way and have some kind of drop off at the port as Avis do at Port Canaveral?

Many thanks

True. The former Hilton Port of Los Angeles Hotel is now the Marina Hotel San Pedro at the Port of Los Angeles (2800 Via Cabrillo Marina, San Pedro, CA 90731).

It's probably been 15 years since I've been to the San Pedro area, so my personal experience isn't recent. Having said that, allow me to point out the the Port of Los Angeles area is very "industrial." Anyone expecting San Pedro to be like Cocoa Beach or Fort Lauderdale is likely to be disappointed. There are some tourist attractions at San Pedro too (see http://www.sanpedro.com/ ), and it's really interesting to see the large cargo ships and cranes. However, a family arriving 24 or 48 hours early may prefer to stay elsewhere.

do any hotels in long beach run shuttles to the cruise terminal in san pedro??
