a european foodie on dxdp :-)

much better than expected. The food was okay; i love mashed potatoes, so couldn't go wrong anyway :-) nothing special though. The character interaction was fantastic though. They sing and dance and come round a lot... We did not stay excessively long, but saw the figures multiple times and it was really nice. My DD doesn't even know the figures, but she had a lot of fun.... This is great for people with toddlers; here you don't feel bad to have them run around a little... It seems pretty fine within the atmosphere.... (our girl usually sits like a good girl with us and she behaves quite well, but here we spent a lot of time ourselves walking her up and down... i guess it's the atmosphere of other kids running around as well and it not being frowned upon in any way)

i only booked this place because of the F! package, but it was lovely. My MIL and me share a plate of calamari and they were the best i EVER had; very tasty and crunchy.... cute.... Pasta with some alcohol in it was very good as well, and so were the pizzas. Really liked this place and it's a great place to eat... very romantic as well !!!!!! with all those little lights and even the bigger tables felt intimate...

food was good but not memorable; we were probably too stressed about making it in time for fantasmic despite our package

honestly, having been to quite some amusement parks, i think most of the table service restaurants did a very good job.... I do think that if food is important to you, the restaurants in the hotels provide nicer food.

which ones I will certainly visit again:
Jiko, Citricos, CRT (yes, even for 2 TC, given the picture and the wand, it stays a magical place for a kid), Mama Melrose, le Cellier, Crystal Palace

which ones I will not visit again:
Cali Grill, Liberty Tree (not that it was that bad, just not our cup of tea), Tusker House

which ones are still high on my list to try out:
Sanaa, Flying Fish

i had high expectations of this place, so much i had made reservations for 2 evenings.... and both were..... hugely dissapointing.
my FIL is allergic to cheese, so we clearly told the waittress and while in most other restaurants, we had the chef come out to discuss this with him, no chef here.... not that we minded, but then, when they brought his dish and he started eating, he tasted something funny and we called the waittress and asked her 'is there any cheese in this' and she said no and we asked her again and then she said 'oh wait, yes, but it's just a very little bit' :confused3 hey, madam, what don't you get about the word allergic ???????? so we sent it back.....then she kept forgetting stuff and she was terribly slow with our table, while she did have the time to constantly chat with another table.... our food was not so good eiher and in the end, when we simply decided to skip desserts as we were so dissapointed (and believe me, we all love desserts), the waittress asked if she could make it up to us, so what did she do ???? she brought us 1 !!!!!! small slice of chocolate cake for all 6 of us and set that in the middle of the table :rotfl2: wow.... was i supposed to be impressed ? :-) but anyhow, we dedided to give cali grill a second chance.... we had a second waittress, but also this one was not the most impressive. she brought us very lousy steaks, like rubber and with a lot of 'muscles' (?) so very difficult to eat and we sent it back.... the next round was a little better, but still not impressive..... overall, we'll not be returning to the cali grill

Please report the lack of chef to Special Diets -- as a mother of 4 kids with celiac disease, 3 of which have life threatening allergies, I would have gotten up and left if no chef was available to appear. Disney is opening themselves to a massive liability with behavior like that. I have met so many wonderful chefs (2 of which have given me their email addresses because of my kids willingness to eat almost anything -- 8yo orders lamb chops every chance she can, and gets it for the child plate rate at Disney! (she likes the lamb chops at Turf Club the best) -- and are willing to share recipes and hints).

I never really thought about writing a complaint about it, actually. The only time in my life I ever INSISTED on seeing the manager, was when we were staying in this holiday village park and driving our electric golf cart back to our house, when a larger sort of bus/cart driver (park employee) who was driving way too fast, took a too broad turn and crashed us to the side. My dd had been sleeping on my lap, so thankfully I had been holding her tight, but i hate to think what could have happened if she had been awake and sitting on her own (there were no seatbelts and we were sitting on the back which was basically open). The driver even tried to blame us, but luckily a family on the bus who had seen it happen immediately said they'd witness for us on what happened. Our cart was severely damaged (like unusable; a full wheel had gone off) and we lost quite some time. I was really :mad: so I told the employees who came to solve it, i wanted to see not just their manager, but the manager of the park. He did pass by (i guess this was serious enough) and after talking to him, he offered us a voucher for free use of a golf cart during our next stay..... It did calm me a bit, since no one had gotten hurt, i did appreciate their effort to do a gesture... We never used the voucher though :-)
But this was not at Disney.
But maybe you are right, I should report this; not for us, but for any people after us maybe getting the same experience... no idea though who to write to...

i knew this on forehand, but still... i mean, how dissapointing is it if you do a character meal and your favorite character does not come in.... i guess it's not any different from CRT where cindy doesn't make it either, but atleast with cindy you still have some sort of character interaction. here, all donald did was a very quick pose and off you were shuffed..... the best thing about this meal was the juice you get, some tropical juice which was very nice. But i thought the buffet was very limited compared to crystal palace and off much lesser quality than akershus, plus what there was really did not appeal to me .... one of the least ones for me this one

Im quite shocked that you didnt find Tusker House to have a very good selection? I found quite the opposite. Tusker House has one of the largest selection of breakfast food i've seen!! Its one of our fave places. Ditto for Liberty Tree. Love that place. One of our faves. Lol. Different strokes for different folks right?

I have yet to try Cali Grill, I have ressies in August. I hope our experience is good! we'll see i guess. ;)

well, i'm sure with opposite tastes, you'll have a lovely time in cali grill :-) :-) but i do have to admit, the setting itself is lovely.... it's a very elegant seating and the views are amazing... going outside and watching the fireworks in itself was great !!! have fun !!! wish i could be there too :-) but i will be doing some days of disneyland paris instead :-)
