A Dream of a Dream

Great pics from the fair. I have always wanted to go to one but I either always miss it or am too busy.

I love all the pics you take. The look like postcards to me.

It's not more expensive....it's just the exchange rate.

Well...it used to be...even though the American dollar is weaker than ours, we STILL have to pay those high exchange rates! :sad2:

For a while now, our dollar has been very close to the American dollar, but none of the prices up here reflect that.

A lot of the time it is the exchange but some stuff is just way more expensive! I have priced out cars before, the same exact model of car in Canada can be up to $10,000 more AFTER you consider the exchange rate, that is just outrageous to me. Good thing we have family in the States so I can just go shopping down there or have stuff shipped to their house and then pick it up when I visit, it can save a lot of money! ;)

Loved The Medieavil Fair Pix !!I went to one in Sterling NY years ago !! It was the first time I saw Turkey Legs sold !! We really enjoyed it too . Loved the pix of the Penny Farthing bikes (at least that's what they call them in England )

I forgot at Age 12 our town put on a pageant about King John and his crusading brother Richard . I was in one of the dance scenes and while waiting to go out a Weight for the Portcullis hit me on the head !!:rotfl2:Now you know why I am LOOPY!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I felt it here in Waterloo too!

We were sitting around one of the student lounges. And someone said, "Hey....Is the building shaking?"

"Is this an earthquake?"

"Nooo, we're on one of the oldest plates in the world, it can't be. Might be an explosion like the one in Toronto."

"No...this is an earthquake....people over at Milton and Sarnia felt it."

Someone calls their mom in Ottawa, "Ok...they say it originated there."

A 5.5!!! It's unheard of!

:lmao: Alek, Erich and I are all really disappointed that we were out here in BC and missed the big event.

I will picking up the kids tomorrow, YEAH!!! How does the traffic look on the 401 tomorrow with the G20 happening, I heard that there were going to be some rolling closures along the 401 though Toronto today. I am hoping that all the world leaders will have arrived and it will be clear sailing through Toronto. I am going to allow myself 3 1/2 hours to get to the airport.

Traffic is looking DISMAL. Are you coming from Kingston? I'm not sure if that'll be enough time because it's going to be pretty backed up especially around the airport....The G20's supposed to start tomorrow though, so maybe it won't be so bad? And it WILL be a Sunday, so traffic tends to be lighter.

Ok now that I think about it, 3 1/2 hrs might be enough time too. If not, they can wait. :thumbsup2

Thanks Yuki, yes I will be driving from Kingston, and this time I will use speed control so I don't get another $$$ speeding ticket. I have seen that there is a lot of protesters and riots in Toronto today. One of my friends, her son works in Toronto, and they closed business ( works for the Reality Board at the Eaton Centre) for the period of time the G8 and G20 are in town.

Yeah...it's really hectic in Downtown Toronto on that end right now. I hope you have a good drive!

Sorry you missed out on the bread. Hope you didn't have to smell it all day. :thumbsup2 Great pics. Looks like a fun day.

My mom thought she was dreaming when the earthquake happened. She has shingles :sad2: so was in bed resting and thought she imagined it until I asked her if she felt it.

Well we made it home! It was NOT a very fun travel day though.

Our flight was 30 minutes late leaving, then as we began our descent into Toronto they had to pull back up as severe thunder storms developed. The plane then got diverted to Ottawa. We sat on the tarmac in Ottawa for 2 1/2 hours unsure if we were going to be able to get back to Toronto that night. Finally we had the all clear to fly back. The flight back was super turbulent, even more so than the initial flight. It was so bad that the flight attendants did not come through the cabin before final landing to make sure the cabin was secure and that we all had our seat belts on and seat upright. I was so scared, my hands were clenched onto the arm rests like my life depended on it. Finally once we were on the ground, 4 hours late, I thought it was all over with, NOPE! We now had to drive three hours home in the rain and heavy fog, could barely see where I was going. Needless to say I was very happy when we got home. Poor Mom was stuck waiting for us in the Toronto airport for 5 hours!

It took me 4 hours to drive to the airport, with the G8/G20 summitts happening in Toronto, it did not make for fun driving. At least I didn't get another speeding ticket!!. While I patiently waited for the kids I made a few acquitances along the way, it really is small world, met a guy from Toledo, OH my hometown, he was wearing a Toledo Mud Hens t-shirt, another guy who did some demolition work at one of Kingston's hospitals, another guy who had joined the Navy a year before my ex, then a family who went to Disney just last month, I was wearing my Disney sweatshirt, and they got to talking to me about Disney cruises. I alwyas find a way to pass the time. It was good to see the kids, so much so, I entered into the restricted area, I think the kids thought that the airport security would come and drag me away LOL, all night people were forcing the sliding doors open to the baggage clains area, to see their family members as some had to wait up to 1hour for their luggage. It was a long night for all, and it was good to have everyone home safe and sound.

I'm glad you guys are back home safe! Last year, DBF had to drive through this TERRIBLE downpour from Kingston back to Toronto. So I understand how it must've felt. We had a worse ride coming back from Niagara Falls one year too. Cars on the highway were going at 50! And everybody had their caution lights on.

It's so cool that you got to meet all those people. It sure is a small world after all.

Aw nuts...now the song is stuck in my head

Yuck, I hate driving in bad weather. A few years back my brothers and I were driving back to Kingston from Carleton Place after spending Christmas Eve with our dad. The route back is on "back roads" highways and that night there was a super heavy fog. Couldn't see anything, it was so dangerous. So I was inching along and every once and awhile these people, I assume locals, come zooming by us like it is a sunny afternoon instead of a pitch black foggy night. I am surprised that we were not run off the road. :scared1:

I am glad you made it back in one piece........

Me too! I suppose it could have been worse, we could have been stuck in Europe with a volcano spewing ash.

Here I am! Sorry it took so long! lol

No problem. ;)

Gotta Bump you up Lessa and let everyone know I started my "Pole Dancing Escort PTR!!!!:rotfl2:

I'll be over to check it out tonight.

Wow...I guess the locals are really used to that kind of weather. Thick fog is so scary to drive though cause you just CAN'T see that far! Those locals are fearless.

Fearless, stupid, same thing. ;) The thing that made me really mad that night is that they were driving that fast even though they couldn't see the other traffic on the road, they could have killed somebody!
