A Dream Come True - 2/6/11 4-day Bahama Cruise

Our cruise is paid in full and so now I debate if I want to pre-book any sort of beach trip for Nassau. Is it necessary? Or do you think we can wait until we know that we want to go/the weather is going to be good or will that sort of trip sell out? (And if it does, do I care? ha!)
I dunno.

We aren't leaving the boat in Nassau as we aren't big fans of that port.

I'm sure there will be something available on one of the many excursions available.

That was MY original plan, but the husband finds it wrong to go to the Caribbean and not go hang out by the ocean.

Since we live at the beach, a "beach day" excursion in Nassau isn't for us. We'll do our beach day at CC. Hopefully, our Nassau day will be a little warmer than when we were there last February. The temperature almost made it to 60 degrees. I went back to the ship to get my jacket. The Cruise Director started his evening announcements with "I hope you all enjoyed your day in Nome, Alaska!"

We're doing the Ardastra Gardens and City Tour. We've done it before, and I absolutely love flamingos. I got to be in the show last time we went!

That was something I dreamed of since the very first time I rode "If You Had Wings" at the New York World's Fair in the mid-60's. It was one of those "Bucket List" things. After that excursion, we may go to Atlantis for a while, or just get back on the ship.

We'll be riding AquaDuck as much as possible while
you're all traipsing around Nassau.

You can have my share (and Jim's) of rides on the AquaDuck. That's just not my kind of thing, given the bad back and bad knees!

The NY World's Fair was where my love of Disney began. I was only 3 years old, but I was mesmerized by the sights, the smells, the lights!!!

being in Dsiney brings me right back to those moments of utter awe.

I was a bit older than 3 (I was 11) and I was fascinated with so much of what I saw. That's where my love of Disney began too. I think that's one of the reasons that I love Epcot. I remember so much of the World's Fair like it was yesterday! Now, if only I could remember what happened yesterday, my life would be so much easier :lmao:!

Hey, leave the bad knees out of it! I'm not telling mine! *looks at it, still in a full leg brace*

Nope, not telling it that a ride like that is bad for it!

That's what I get for not having the foresight to have my knees fixed before the cruise!

One of the women in my office is on medical leave now--she's 38 years old, and having her THIRD knee replacement. Just in case any of you wise guys ask, no, she doesn't have three knees!

However, since I can't do rides like the AquaDuck, I guess my role will have to be to take all of the pictures which can be used later on for blackmail  ! Just remember--I never go anywhere without at least one camera with me!

Yeah, last year I had this massive knee surgery - I was out of work for six weeks, on crutches for 16, in the same leg brace for a total of 17 weeks (and then I ended up with a stress fracture in the same leg, so another 6 weeks or so)... but the overall goal of that knee surgery is to delay, hopefully forever, a knee replacement! In short, the surgeon adjust the alignment of where the impact/weight bearing portion fell on my knees (moving it from the extreme inside, w/arthritic damage, to the outside), so that the impact is on the healthy portion. It may last forever, it may not, but in my case, there are other amazing innovations out there that should hopefully put off a knee replacement forever (like cartilage replacement/regrowth).

But her knees must have been TERRIBLE if she's on her 3rd. Ick. ICK.

Camera. Got it. Note to self: buy a full body cover-up and never be seen in public in a swim suit. ;)
