A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

Too bad that your meal at Starring Rolls wasn't so great. I've thought about trying it but if they've got funky sauce on them, I know we won't eat them. We actually gave ABC Commissary another try and it wasn't that bad this go round.

You had the same complaint as I had about the Hollywood Studio bus stops. How the heck are guests supposed to get any shade from those itty bitty bus stop covers? And  on a 45 minute wait! I've never ever had a wait that long for any bus. Good for you for telling the other guests that that kind of wait time was not the norm.

45 minute wait for a resort bus? That was lame! I am sure it wasn't the bus driver's fault for your wait, but it was the scheduling that they must adhere to. But even more lame, was his body language and curt response. Very unDisney like! - Sea :cool1:

We usually don't plan for a CS meal in DHS at all. Just a snack and an early ADR or we're leaving the park. The kids are fine with nuggets, but nothing there appeals to me usually. Maybe next time we'll wander over to the boardwalk for lunch or go to a resort...

Good for you for telling the people at the bus stop the truth!! I'd hate to think that was their first trip and they thought that was typical!! So NOT true! I'm becoming more vocal in my old age and less shy about speaking up in such situations.

Do you usually ride TOT? I know you like the coasters etc.

I saw today that BTMRR will be closed from sometime in January until like March or May or something!!! I heard on the DIS podcast that they might be working on tracks. Usually winter is when Splash is closed, but not BTMRR for a long time! Glad we're not going in winter this year - the girls would be so sad! That's the biggest thrill ride that they do!

I think that's what we'll do next time -- just snack in DHS for breakfast/lunch and then do an early dinner. ::yes::

I'd like to say that it's getting older that has made me more vocal in situations like that, but I've always been that way!! :guilty::laughing:

I do usually ride TOT. But after 2 RNRC rides and the heat I just wasn't up for it that day.

I did see that BTMRR was going to be closed. I sure hope it's up & running before we get back there!!

I'm glad you had a better meal at ABC last time! :goodvibes

I know, what is up with those tiny DHS bus stops??? I thought I was going to melt into the pavement. :sad2: That's the longest I've ever waited on the Disney bus. :headache:

It sure was!! It was lame and so was that CM's answer and attitude!! Yes, very unDisney like! I thought about telling him that but I kept my mouth closed. Well, after I said what I did. :lmao:

I am so SAD :sad1: about that!!! I heard that too. We will be there in April. My boys aren't happy. My DS14 is a chicken and he loves that ride.

How cool that yall had a different experience each time on Star Tours! Definitely looking forward to that one!

Rock'n'roller coaster is one of the best rides! :thumbsup2

That's pretty ridiculous about the bus. I'm sure the bus driver was frustrated but he didn't have to just shrug that family off. Especially because it's obviously not true. It was probably their first Disney trip and it's a good thing you spoke up because otherwise they might have been scared off!

I'm still demanding a Do-Over for you guys! This DHS day wasn't panning out to be the best day ever, and that makes me sad.:sad2:

I love the t shirt your DS12 is wearing- right in front of the big guitar of RNRc!:goodvibes Very cool picture!

It was certainly getting more crowded in that park by that afternoon- look at the crowds in the pictures. Good thing you got there early so you could leave in the afternoon. ::yes::

And what the heck?? 45 minutes for a bus???? :faint: I know that must have been so miserable.
Good for you speaking up.... but, that's so uncharacteristic of you....:rolleyes1

:laughing::laughing:

Great update!

Have I said how much I HATE Disney buses?? 45 min.!! Holy cow!!!

We usually have very good luck with Disney buses!! Usually only about one time a trip do we ever have to wait more than 15 minutes. This was the worst we've experienced by far!

How cool that yall had a different experience each time on Star Tours! Definitely looking forward to that one!

I guess there are so many different experiences on Star Tours now that you rarely get the same one twice!

RNRC is the best ride ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Yeah, you could tell the driver just didn't care and didn't want to talk to that family. :confused3

Great update!

 It really wasn't that bad of a day. Just a nasty lunch and we almost melted waiting for a bus. :faint: :rotfl: Actually DH and DS10 had it much worse than DS12 & I, they had to wait that entire time. We just came in on the last 20-30 minutes of it!!

As soon as I saw that shirt when we were back to school shopping last summer I just knew DS had to have it for a DHS day!! :cool1:

I know you are so shocked that I spoke up...... :rolleyes1;):lmao:

That was terrible having to wait so long in the heat for a bus. I only remember having to wait close to that one time but that was when I was staying at AKL and was at AK, we were first in line so had just missed a bus but I still do not know why we had to wait so long that day, there had to be a mix up with the bus routes.

I think it is great that there are so many versions of Star Tours now.

Heading over to BW is what we did our last trip rather than eat lunch at DHS when it was so crazy crowded, if it would not cut into our DHS time in March I would so do that but since we need to get back for our F! Pkg it won't work I am afraid.

I can't believe you had to wait so long for a bus! We had some really horrible bus service on that 1st trip when we stayed at POR, but that was *mostly* at park closing. Wow. And how rude that CM was to you. You don't experience that many rude CM's, but when you do it is really infuriating.

So I know that RnRC is your fav and your DS12's favorite ride, so have you ever done the "script" in the room with the band? ;)

When the manager says "What do you want me to do, send them with you?" The audience is supposed to say "HOW ABOUT SOME BACKSTAGE PASSES??!!" And then Steven Tyler says "Wait a minute, I love that idea... How about some backstage passes!"

And then when she calls to get the limo and says "Make it a stretch" The audience is supposed to say "HOW ABOUT A SUPER STRETCH!" and then she says "Better make it a super stretch"

It's always fun to do that. :yay:

We learned this when we met a CM at Fantasmic and she took us on RnRC through the back entrance. I did it this past trip and everyone started cracking up :rotfl: Then some guy was like "Looks like someone's been on this before"

I love RnRC :lovestruc

and I miss Disney :guilty:

These AP's are burning a serious hole in my pocket.

That was one crazy wait time for a bus! I bet cooling off in the pool felt extra good after that wait in the heat!
DH is a bus snob. He loves having the car and being able to drive to the parks. After your report I might be thankful for always having our car!

Wow! I can't believe you waited that long. I would have been so miserable in that heat. Good grief! Something obviously was wrong. I wonder why the CM didn't just say that? I'm sure that pool was dreamy by the time your kids jumped in!

Yay for no wait on RNRC! We didn't have any wait either, which is a good thing, b/c I would have probably jumped ship if I had time to think about what I was doing!

I can't believe Indie was full! That's really weird. :confused3

It seemed like there must have been a mix up with the bus routes that afternoon. :faint: We saw several buses for the other resorts go by, several times. :headache: Plus I thought it was weird that the new driver had to wait so long to start his route.

:confused3

Oh well. It's bound to happen once in awhile I guess.

That's a good idea to head over to the BW to eat when you are at DHS - if time permits. There's lots of yummy food on the BW!! :thumbsup2

That is too funny!! :lmao: DS and I usually say stuff like that quietly to each other. We've never said it out loud though!!

I miss Disney too. Not sure when the next trip will be, but I hope it's sooner rather than later! :wizard: Are you going to WDW before/after your cruise?

We couldn't wait to get back to the resort and to the pool!!

It was pretty miserable.:faint: IDK why the CM didn't just say something like --there was a mix up, or the bus has been delayed, or it will be here shortly, or something!!

I love when there's no wait for RNRC!! :thumbsup2 It seems to happen quite often now that TSM is there.

I know, we expected to be able to walk right into the Indy show at the last minute and get a seat due to the lack of people in the park that morning. The park must have been filling up quickly while we were having our nasty lunch! :confused3:lmao:

Yes! We are planning on going for a day before and a few days (3, maybe 4) after. :cool1: I will definitely get my Disney fix in a few months, but now I keep hearing about Southwest flight deals and they keep sending me discounts and codes. Disney knows how to really put the bug in your ear.

We are staying at the Hyatt at the airport the night before the cruise because they make everything super easy in the morning when you board the ship. I'm not sure where we are staying after the cruise. We are staying with our DVC friends again, so it will depend on availability. She is trying for BLT, BC or BWV this time. I am obviously OK with any of the above :lmao:

I'm just excited to spend time with friends at Disney again!!! It was a blast last time.:woohoo:

Have you decided whether you're doing a cruise yet or not? popcorn::

I'm such a ditz sometimes.:upsidedow I was telling John about your trip report last night and he said "did you tell her you had Disney dog toys for sale?" . I didn't even think about that before. I have the last set listed on ebay right now. If you want to take a look, go to ebay and search for me. I use the same user name on ebay as on the Disboards....mickeystoontown.

Shelley I always enjoy your reports. You really know how to have fun at Disney and your boys seem like they have just as much fun. It looks like youv'e been going for quite a few years. We've gone the past 4 years and I think we will give it a rest for now. Will probably do a cruise in 2012 (not Disney).

I think if I make my boys pose for one more picture with Mickey they will hang me! :rotfl:

Do you think you will go back to Disney again next year or someplace else?

Wow that sounds like quite the trip!! :cool1::cloud9:

I still don't know about the cruise. It would be in spring 2013 if we did it. The rates recently came out and I went ahead and booked a 3 nighter, but I'm now having my doubts....It's just so much $$. :faint: I'm not sure I can justify spending that much money for such a short trip. And then add in a few nights at WDW and we would be spending so much that I am considering doing something else! :confused3

Yes, we will most likely go back to Disney in 2012. The kids still love it!!

Not sure what we are doing yet for 2013. It will be our 15th anniversary so we want to do something different!

When we got back to CBR we gathered all the dirty clothes and we headed over to the Jamaica quiet pool/laundry. The kids jumped right in the pool and were having a blast! :cool1:

DH and I filled the washing machines with clothes and then lounged around by the pool. I took a little walk and took some pictures in the Jamaica section.

Eventually we finished up our laundry and headed back to the room to start to pack up for our big move the next day and to get ready for dinner!

Up Next: Dinner at Shutter's

After reading many mixed reviews of Shutter's I decided to go ahead and give it a try on this trip. This was our 3rd time staying at CBR and we hadn't tried it yet. So tonight we had an ADR there. After we got back to the room from swimming/laundry we had packed up a lot of our stuff. The kids were playing video games and with Lego's and weren't too interested in going to dinner. DH and I were hungry and wanted to try Shutter's, so we let them stay behind. I had bought bread and crackers at OPR earlier in the week and we had brought PB&J with us, so between that and all the little candies and things they had purchased along the way they had quite enough for a little feast in the room!

So DH and I got ready and headed across the bridge to dinner!

They had just opened up when we got over there. We checked in and were given a buzzer, which went off about 3 minutes later and we were seated.

We ordered and our waitress brought out some bread. It was pretty good.

DH ordered the Caribbean Pasta with Shrimp. It wasn't really what he was expecting when it came, but he thought it was okay. I ordered the Aruba Style Roasted Chicken. I had hoped it would be as good as the chicken I had at Olivia's at OKW. Too bad it wasn't. The sauce on it was not good and I didn't like any of the side choices. So it wasn't a wonderful dinner for me.

We were still on the DDP, so we still had dessert coming. :upsidedow DH ordered Tres Leches. I didn't see anything I really wanted, so I just ordered the Chocolate Cake.

DH ate his dessert and thought it was good. I only had a few bites of my cake. It was okay, I'm just not too big into chocolate cake. It sure was pretty though!

The service was decent I guess. It wasn't crowded at all so the food came out quick. Our waitress was okay, not much of a personality though. We probably wouldn't return. We can get a better dinner at the food court.

Rating: 5 out of 10
Total Bill: $57

After dinner we walked over to the gift shop and took another look around. We looked outside and it was pouring!! We hadn't brought an umbrella or ponchos. So we waited it out. I found a shirt that I really wanted. I had been thinking about getting it all week, but I thought the price was a bit high at $28. And it came in several colors and I couldn't decide which one I liked best -- pink, purple, blue, or green.

Well, there it was – the answer I had been looking for all week....The pink ones only were marked down to $19!! So pink it was!! So I go through all the pink ones and there are none in my size. :sad2: I asked the CM if the other colors were $19 as well and she said no, just the pink. Okay, great. I almost bought a size too big, but decided to wait and see if I could find a pink one in my size somewhere else.

It poured hard for a little while and then let up some so we went for it & ran back to the room! We got back and packed up a bit more. Originally I had planned to do laundry this evening, but we had gotten it done that afternoon and we were as packed up as we could be for our move to the Poly the next morning. So here we found ourselves with a free evening......I knew DS10 wanted to go back to the Lego store before the trip was over. And I wanted to be totally done with DTD, DHS, and AK before we got to the Poly. That way we would only be going to MK & Epcot once we got there, plus we wanted to spend plenty of down time at the Poly. So I told them this was our last chance to go to DTD and they were all over it!!! :yay: :yay:
