A Dole Whip in my hand & my toes in the sand: CBR/Poly Split Stay – This Is The Life!

I went and made an ADR for Sci Fi, ditching my Starring Rolls Plan, we were going to pay OOP for SR any how so this way if we are not that hungry maybe we can get an app and sandwich and share a quick meal. I am trying to plan to avoid stress this trip and just reading about your expierence at SR it sounded stressful. Thanks for the heads up Shelly!

:headache:

Do--Over!! I demand a Do-Over!!!;)

Yep that about sums it up.

Sorry your Starring Rolls experience wasn't good. It sounded miserable- the crowds and sandwich and waiting for a table and, and.... and.....!!!! All of it. Sounds sorta like you and I switched places on this trip--- my bad experiences in that park happened to you and your good ones happened to me. Ah, the hardships one endures in being my friend....

The croissants looked good at least. I saw that plain one and wondered if it was for the littlest stinker? Belle discovered croissants at the CL breakfast one morning and she STILL talks about going back to get one of them.:lmao: Which I don't understand at all b/c she's had them before but for whatever reason, the ones at the GF are the BEST.:confused3

DHS looked like it was filling in a bit more in that pic of the hat-- still not terrible.

Poor Jack, his people went to WDW and all he got was an oven mitt...
:rotfl: I'm sure he had a fun time with it.

We didn't see the Muppet Vision this time. My kids don't care for it---:confused3
Did you see the key under the mat?????

Great update----- looking forward to more DHS!!!!:cool1:

Do over!!! :rotfl2: I know, right?! What a crappy experience. I was expecting a nice relaxing brunch type meal and instead I got swarms of pushy people and no open tables and nasty food! :headache:

Never again!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, not everything can be perfect I guess. I was just hoping to find an edible CS meal in DHS! :upsidedow:laughing:

Of course DS10 had a croissant! Any kind of bread is good for him. As long as there's nothing on it.

Okay -- what key? What mat??? What are you talking about??? Apparently I missed it....:rotfl:

I love Muppet Vision 2 D and we missed it last trip since Ddil had her panic attack due to the crowds and we had to leave DHS :sad1: I am so looking forward to seeing it in March.

I am thinking now about making an ADR for 50's now maybe or trying to change our F! pkg to lunch instead of dinner. :confused3 I wanted to try starring rolls for a quick bite but two things DH and I hate about CS is waiting in line for the food and then having to hunt for a place to sit down.

Poor Jack no puppet just an oven mitt :rotfl:

enjoyed the update and review!

I hope you get to see Muppet Vision this time!

I was so surprised that Starring Rolls was so crowded. It wasn't even breakfast or lunch time. Somewhere in between. :confused3

Well I hope you'll be happier this way! I hate for you to change your plans around based on my opinion though!! :scared1::rotfl: But seriously, I would not recommend SR. :sad2: Especially if you are trying to avoid stress!

I think everyone was at SR in search of the cupcakes--- I hear they are a big draw for a lot of people.

:confused3

They really need to get some good CS options there, although I will say we really enjoyed Pizza Planet this trip!!!:goodvibes

Okay the key under the mat-- read about it here--
http://www.onlywdworld.com/2010/08/disney-world-hidden-secret-muppets.html

We first heard about it in that one thread that's floating around about all the hidden secrets in WDW. The kids get a kick out of trying to find all the secret stuff.

Oh yeah, and, I demand a Do Over after EVERY trip. Good or bad!:lmao:

Okay so thanks for that! I love cupcakes but I'm actually more interested in the cupcakes at Animal Kingdom that look like animals... and now that I know that the food wasn't good, Starring Rolls is officially off my list.
I wonder what kind of sauce they would put on a ham sandwich that would be so disgusting? That's just weird! What did it taste like?
(On second thought, you don't have to tell me... I don't want to make you sick again.)
I love the Muppets but Muppet-Vision isn't my favorite... it seems like more of the show focuses on that little 3D guy than the actual Muppets. I don't blame your boys for wanting to skip it. :)

Hope your day got better after your awful lunch! :crazy2:

Shelly - I am glad you mentioned the negatives you encountered at SR, I too have heard about the great cupcakes and the good turkey and ham sandwiches so I thought it would make for a quick stop lunch but I just do not deal well when it comes to waiting in food lines and then not being able to find a place to sit once I get the food so this way I feel much better, we can still have a sandwich and a drink at Sci-fi to hold us over till dinner at HBD and even have a seat to eat at :thumbsup2 DH loves Ruebens so he will be quite happy I think at Sci-fi.

Jo - I never heard of the key under the mat either, very interesting :)

Hi Shelly - What a bummer about Starring Roles. We have never tried the place - heck, I don't even think I know where it is, LOL!

Is it just me or does it seem that generally, it is better getting a CS meal at the resorts than at the WDW parks?

Sea :cool1:

That's a shame about Starring Rolls. :sad2: Come to think of it, I'm with Sea - I don't even know where it is! :confused3 I'm sure the heat added to the uncomfortableness of the crowd in there (I win the award for the longest word in your TR today!) The food actually looks very good in your pics. The ham sandwich looked especially good! I wonder what sauce they use on it? But I don't guess you'll be going back in the future to tell them to hold the sauce. ;)

Once again, how crazy for Disney to discontinue pet items. Guests are now resorting to kitchen linens for doggie souvenirs. Oh well, it was a cute gift, even if it didn't last very long!

OK, now I'm going to have to read up on the 'key under the mat' thing!

Bummer about your sandwiches and crowds at Starring Rolls. We have only gotten breakfast treats and/or cupcakes there and lucked out without crowds. We enjoyed our food.

Never heard that about the key under the mat that I can recall! Next time we'll have to go and look!

I guess so. :faint:

We may have to go back to Pizza Planet next time.:upsidedow

How come I didn't know about the key under the mat??? Dang!! The kids would have loved to see that. They loved finding Divine and the umbrella! :rotfl:

Remind me about the key before my next trip.....whenever that may be....:rolleyes1

I'm not sure any cupcake is good enough to go through that experience again!! :scared1:

I can't even begin to describe the sauce on the sandwich.....It was just nasty!! It almost burned my tongue even though it wasn't hot or spicy. :sad2: IDK, like I said - too hard to describe. Oh and it was chunky.

A sandwich at Sci-Fi would have been much better! :thumbsup2

Ok, I had SR planned for my lunch that day too. I have never been to HS, so what do you recommend for a QS lunch? Or should we just plan a snack and an early dinner later?

Great update on your fav park Shelly! :goodvibes We didn't spend too much time at DHS this past trip, but I did do the new Star Tours attraction.:sick::sick: I knew it would be a bad idea because of my motion sickness - but figured it was worth seeing. I'm glad I went - but probably not again. ;)

We did Starring Rolls for breakfast one of our trips and had the same feelings. Our food wasn't bad (we only got pastries though) but it was SO small in there!! And confusing where and how to order. Fortunately for us it wasn't crowded in the seating area, so I just had Bob order while I grabbed a table but I definitely understand how annoying that place can be.

I'm surprised you guys haven't seen the key at the Muppet attraction yet! We're like Jo's family and try to find new little hidden things every year and we found that one a few years back. That will be such a fun thing for your boys when you go back for your next trip :thumbsup2

It's definitely not you -- we would rather eat CS meals at the resorts everyday!! :thumbsup2

It's kind of tucked into a corner by the Hollywood Brown Derby. The inside is about the size of a hotel room, but with like 900 people in it.:laughing: All the seating is outside.

The sandwiches were pre-made, so I don't even think you could order one without the sauce.

I know!! The whole no pet items is so dumb! :headache:

Never heard that about the key under the mat that I can recall! Next time we'll have to go and look!

Maybe we'll stop by there someday early in the morning for breakfast items, but I will have to check out the crowd first!! :scared1:

Ok, I had SR planned for my lunch that day too. I have never been to HS, so what do you recommend for a QS lunch? Or should we just plan a snack and an early dinner later?

Well honestly I haven't found a good CS restaurant in DHS yet. :confused3 Pizza Planet is okay I guess. ABC Commissary was not great. I don't know. I think next time we will just grab a pretzel and a frozen lemonade and call it a day!

Thanks Heather! Are you enjoying this lovely day here in western PA???

Too bad Star Tours makes you sick. It's pretty cool now with the 3D!

Yeah, Starring Rolls just isn't big enough to handle the amount of people coming in there. And the CM's seemed rather frazzled.

I know, I can't believe we didn't know about the key!! :upsidedow

So sorry your experience at SR was so bad. Like I told you before, DH got the turkey and it was really good! DD and I got the ham and it was super bland, no sauce at all... just a lot of ham. Not even any cheese. :confused3 Strange how different of an experience we had. And I don't think anyone else was at SR while we were there. Maybe one other family? But I do agree that it is confusing in there. There is no direction as to where to go or what to do and the food is scattered all over the place. You start out with the dessert counter and then the sandwiches are past the cash register??? :confused3 I don't get that at all. Then the cupcakes are in a different place. There was no menu that I saw either. And it is VERY small. It could use some work. I'm just like you though and was looking for a good CS place at DHS. Hope you had better luck with your meals for the rest of the trip.

I've been lurking on your report for quite a while now and enjoying reading along. I agree with you about SR  We went to get a snack one day - hunting the elusive cupcuakes that get such raves on the boards. We also had a really negative experience - it was so crowded and everyone was packed into the little space - yuck. Plus, we hated the cupcakes :sad2: If you have a BIG sweet tooth they may be great but there was way too much frosting for our taste, so we suffered the hot, crowded experience for two cupcakes that we ended up throwing away after one or two bites. Definately not somewhere we will every go again!!

Note to self...skip Starring Rolls. Last trip I vowed never to do ABC again and I'm so tired of Pizza Planet. Doesn't leave many other CS options. :confused3

Glad Jack liked his oven mitt

Jo- Thanks for the tip about the key! We're going Thanksgiving morning to see the new Muppets movie and the kids will be excited to look for it in a few weeks!

Too bad they didn't have the turkey sandwiches the day we were there. They were probably better. I can't believe we had that nasty sause on our ham and you didn't. Weird!!

But yes, very crazy set up and very confusing in there. Made no sense at all. :confused3

Oh well, now we know! :upsidedow

Welcome!! :goodvibes So glad you decided to post!

Well I'm kind of glad we never made it to the cupcake counter then, I'm not too big on that much frosting. Although I'm sure the kids would have loved that! :rotfl:

I probably wouldn't do ABC or SR again. Unless I was really starving or something! :rotfl:

There's Backlot Express that we've never tried, but their menu doesn't look that great to me. Maybe we'll go there next time. IDK. Like I said before -- we might just have a pretzel for lunch and have an early ADR for dinner!!

You're trip is getting so close! :cool1:

We've only had snacks at SR too. The cupcakes were good!
Great update can't wait for Poly :)

Day 6 - Check in at the Poly day is coming up soon!!!!! :cloud9:

Moving on from our disgusting lunch, it was about 10 minutes until the next Indiana Jones stunt show so we headed there. Got to the theater and the CM said it was standing room only. :scared1: Uh, no thanks! We couldn't believe it, the park was not crowded at all that day. :confused3 Apparently everyone was at Starring Rolls and the Indiana Jones show! :rotfl:

So onto Star Tours! This ride was different than the other one we took a few days before!

1fd07ba1.jpg

The kids really enjoyed it once again! After that DS12 and I wanted to go do RNRC, so DH and DS10 stayed and rode Star Tours again! That was the last thing they wanted to do and DS12 and I weren't sure what all we were going to do, so we decided that we would just meet back up at CBR.

So DS12 and I headed for RNRC!

We did the single rider line and had no wait! :cool1:

14bff86d.jpg

When we were done DS10 called DS12 and was telling him all about how his Star Tours ride was a different one again!! Him and DH were headed out to the bus stop and going back to CBR.

DS12 and I did RNRC one more time. It was getting hotter and more crowded by the minute. He wanted to ride TOT, but I just wasn't up for it. He wouldn't go by himself. So we decided we would just head out as well.

He knew I was heading to the Jamaica laundry room to do some laundry this afternoon so he said him and DS10 wanted a ball to play catch with in the pool, so we stopped at one of the stores and got one before we headed out of the park.

Then we headed out to the bus stop. We figured DH and & DS10 were long gone, but as we got closer to the stop we saw them standing there. They had already been there for over 20 minutes. And it was blazing hot!! :faint: And those DHS bus stops have no seating and very little shade. It was very unpleasant. We waited another 20+ minutes before a bus ever came. There was a bus driver standing there too (waiting to take over the route) and another family. Someone from the other family asked him if it was normal to have to wait 45 minutes for a bus and he said yes and turned around.... Well I knew that wasn't right, so I said out loud – I have never had to wait for a Disney bus even close to this long ever!!!

So eventually we did make it back to CBR and loaded up all the dirty laundry in garbage bags and changed into our swimsuits and headed to the Jamaica pool/laundry.

Up Next: Swimming, Laundry, and Dinner

We usually don't plan for a CS meal in DHS at all. Just a snack and an early ADR or we're leaving the park. The kids are fine with nuggets, but nothing there appeals to me usually. Maybe next time we'll wander over to the boardwalk for lunch or go to a resort...

Good for you for telling the people at the bus stop the truth!! I'd hate to think that was their first trip and they thought that was typical!! So NOT true! I'm becoming more vocal in my old age and less shy about speaking up in such situations.

Do you usually ride TOT? I know you like the coasters etc.

I saw today that BTMRR will be closed from sometime in January until like March or May or something!!! I heard on the DIS podcast that they might be working on tracks. Usually winter is when Splash is closed, but not BTMRR for a long time! Glad we're not going in winter this year - the girls would be so sad! That's the biggest thrill ride that they do!
