My DDs are really enjoying this game, but I am not happy with this whole boyfriend/girlfriend and make out talk either.

I don't play the game, so I am wondering from you guys, how bad is it?

My DDs say they can't make the characters 'do' anything. I hope that is true. They also say there are many words that can't be typed in. I am hoping that since this is a beta site, maybe there will be a way to stop some of this stuff.

well, basically, it's lwhat I said... someone comes up and asks, then you accept or decline. But yes, thanks to the dictionary, a LOT of things can not be said, such as cities, states, numbers, negative words and the like. As long as your DD's just play it smart and say "no thanks" or simply put in their tag "i'm taken", it'll keep the wolves at bay

Ok, I have not shared this with anyone--I guess I can with the 70,000+ population at DIS------

Some dude had asked me out at VMK and wanted me to remove my hat--told him no it was special and had a reason. He got mad and started saying not nice things. So I told him his hair looked bad!! He was upset! I told him that his hair was weird and etc. . . . .let's just say I have not had a problem since--- I also told him thank you for saying those things to me

then I left--no more problems since then

I am not at all familiar with online games and I let DD register to play VMK this weekend and now I am a little concerned. She mentioned that boy characters would ask her about being "friends" and she would just tell them "sure". What do I need to tell her to prevent this? I thought this was just going to be good, clean Disney fun

There is something on VMK called a "friends list", which is really useful, as it lets you send messages, see their location, and jump to the same location. I have many of the Dis'ers here on my friend's list.

What is different and what you might be more concerned about is the (rather silly) make believe girlfriend / boyfriend thing. It's all usually rather innocent, especially since the dictionary is quite restrictive. Still, people can be rather creative in their use of even allowed words.

Furthermore, the VMK staff is very quick to intervene if they detect or hear of inappropriate behavior or language. I spoke with a VMK staff person yesterday, and she told me that the "Make Out Room" and anything similar to that was forbidden, but that make-believe "boyfriend/girlfriend" would be allowed. (The game's target audience IS "tweens", so I can't say I really disagree with that.)

If you want to be completely safe, you should monitor to children while they are playing, or at least show them how to use the Help button to Call for Help and encourage them to use it if they ever feel uncomfortable.

I watched a boy today in central plaza telling a newbie, know they are new by their name and lack of pins, that they could go to his PRIVATE room. and he kept specifying private. Over and over again. After about five times, VMK_Annie came in and sneezed and suddenly the boy was gone. perhaps he's done it before and knew he was in trouble. Like he was going to get away. LOL Those VMKs are fast let me tell ya. Anything of a mature nature gets stopped in record time. I like it. Of course, I know someone who keeps getting in trouble for mostly innocent stuff and I won't name names. You know who you are. LOL So rest assured that if your kids are playing VMK is right on top of it and will be there to save the day. I've seen it numerous times.

A couple of days ago, two girls and a boy were trying to hook up in Central Plaza, but they wanted some privacy (I guess they didn't know about the guest rooms) so they started typing in that everyone should leave. I was sitting on a bench and I wasn't leaving. The two girls began approaching each character in the Plaza and told them "get out" "move" "leave now." A bunch of people actually did leave. So I typed, "Let me get a cast member to help you" and they all left.

All day yesterday chiabob had a goofy hat on and pirate dude would take your picture of you and goofy.

He kept saying, "I am goofy! Take picture with me!"

Then, we had a character meet. There was dumbo, mickey, and many other characters.

By the way, we charge $2 for the picture, $5 for the film, and $2 for processing.

I actually used "I am too old for you!" in my signiture! no one has bothered me since! now they just bug me to trade! can't get away from the little buggers! sure wish they had an adult only site. (I know, I know, the game is meant for the 8 to 14 crowd. why should they get all the fun!?) I did get to witness vellamint and mommykate "attack" the first boy to come onto main street with a bunch of "will you be my crazyhusband" questions! it was too funny! revenge! poor kid got scared and left! ha! laughed REALLY hard after that one!!!

This is makeing me crazy this is for little kids they are definetly getting the wrong messige from other MUCH older players. I am so glad the vmk staff has thickened security. Just because i like the workout pants and the tink halfway longslevd shirts dosnet mean i am trying to look like i need someone no whay jose who ever that is lol l i had enugh of this. i am trying to help other players face this and try to make an end to this. and everyone is right it is disturbing that kids are doing this. and oh ya how do you have my vmk picyure on the bottome of this writing?
