A DisneyWorld Lifer is going to Disneyland-the saga ends...

:yay: I'm excited FOR you!! Ok, and a little jealous too:rolleyes1

And ooooh...Pirate Island...I really MUST spend some time coming up with a plan (oh yeah, and the money too) to go...we said we were gonna go in 07, then it became 08...:sad2: Somewhere we need to squeeze a cruise in...maybe we can combine with a west coast cruise...

Ahhhhh....if only....

My cruising friends and I are hoping one of the premier 2011-2012 Disney Cruise ships sail Cali. We have to wait for the itinerary to come out to know *where* it's gonna sail...but we ar planning a reunion reunion cruise with each other when the new ships are built ;)

that'd give you four years to save for a Cali-Cruise Trip~
puhleeenty of time to save~

Hi there! Disneyland lifer checking in! I'm enjoying all your pre-trip planning. Especially this line:

:rotfl2:
Aisling, you do not want to see Compton. However, I will give you a little bit of "hood" trivia, if you will. If you are arriving via LAX and take the 105 freeway to the Anaheim area, you will pass a huge housing complex known as Knickerson Gardens. This is a notoriously violent area run by the local gangs. You can't miss and you can technically "See Compton" from afar.:thumbsup2

I'd be happy to help you, if you have any questions!:goodvibes

Aisling is the toughest sweetheart you'll ever meet~

Welcome to our story~

bad news & good news & bad news & good news.....

paul doesn't want to drive to Dland in May so he handed me the VISA and said book those $49 flights...I did. sorry no caravan for us on Sunday, we'll meet you at the park in the afternoon. We also are for sure flying home on Tuesday now too.

Did ya follow that?

We'll have to book the shuttle from the airport to Dland, grim who do you use? it's been a while since we've done that.

chicken is quite pleased not to drive, and figures he can bill the difference by saving the extra time we would spend in the car. (frankly that's ok with me too, but I do hate flying) oh well...45 minutes I can survive it (with a bloody mary)(or rum and coke) or hmmmmm.....

Aisling, are you planning on hosting us to swim at Dland hotel???? I hope so....it's just not the same with out access to the Dland pool at least once during a trip. I of course will host you with the DOD that day :lmao:

btw, we did a drive by on the Best Westerns you of course were correct in the closer one (by half a block) but hey that matters to the kids and you too now that you have joined the stroller club!!!! (and yes we always brought ours along, it was big enough to hold on the loot and the kiddos are content in them, so why bother trying to rent one...) car seats too, of course with Piper you will have to do that since she is still in her infant seat...we did it for a while with ours on the plane, never gave them the thought that they "could not" sit in it. (as you know we are mean parents, well at least I am)...ask Wilson about holding your arms up on the rides....7 years old and still believes it's a law to not stick out your arms....(okay that might be a bit over protective ya think?)

almost forgot to tell you that we won in the Million Dreams....we got a big fat.....wait for it......

set of ears!!!

okay you're right a DCL trip and I would have been on the phone right at that moment....

We got our ears the last morning, the last ride....unfortunately chicken was packing (for all of us) and he didn't get a pair. Next time I'm sure he will win.......

wait for it ......

the cruise......

not.:rotfl:

Ok, So I booked the Pruneyard for nutin! :confused3

Thanks Chicken~ :(

I guess I could find Rose and me a hotel on the coast a little closer to Anaheim then so our drive isn't quite as long as it would have been...

I thought that idea was to end up here to visit before heading down there, but if you wish to make it further down the coast on Saturday go for it.

I think you may not be aware of the miles and miles between things here in CA..... it really isn't just a hop and jump to get around between SF/SJ/and LA....so you need to really have a plan on what you want to see and then make sure you have the driving time planned in that too.

Do you have ideas of what you want to see in SF? I know at one point you talked about Napa also, but that is a whole day in itself (again, due to driving)

I think it would be best if you decided what you want to see and then we can advise, otherwise we are offering suggestions in a black hole....

IMHO The drive to LA really sucks. It is hard for one person to do alone and Paul doesn't want to do it again, so I'm not going to blame him, even if that means not being able to caravan with you guys, sorry.

Perhaps you want to look at getting a one way flight down there too. $49 SWA.... SJ - Orange County, not sure what SFO would be.

I was thinking about flying...I have to talk to Rose...

How many hours total is the drive to DL, how long did it take you this last trip since ours would also be on a Sunday?

The cost of a car would match the amount we'd have to pay to fly with you ya know...I would actually enjoy being "stuck" on a plane wth you guys~

5/24 Brit and me arrive in San Jose at noon, visit with Nan, pick up th kids and get transported into the city of San Francisco by the Skjervens? Rose and Stef are flying into San Fran late that nigt. 5/25 Our first full day, all day, will be spent touring San Fran. Hopefully goingto the movies that night. 5/26 Our second day would be spent finishing up in San Fran and then drive to San Jose to definitely see the movie if we haven't and then stay at the Pruneyard. 5/27 Fly to Anaheim? Meet Aisling, Chad, Jesse, Grim, Dede & Piper at DL. ParkNight? 5/28 Park Day, 5/29 Park Day, 5/30 Hollywood Tours and USH Park Day. 5/31 Check out of BWPP and drive to San Diego. 6/1 Do a day at La Jolla Beach, 6/2 a day at San Diego Zoo, 6/3 a day at Sea World and then 6/4 fly home.

How's that for a plan?

I have a California Touring Magazine and just ordered more specific touring stuff for the specific cities we are visiting. San Fran, Anaheim/LA/Hollywood and San Diego.

ok.....ya also talked about desire to see Monterey at one time too ya know....

We will definately be taking you up to SF after arrival.

I think we might want to release you (& us) from Friday night pressure to do Pirates together. It might be too much. You will have so much to see when you are in SF that I don't want to crimp or cramp your style and the kids can be a pain to get to SF on a Friday after a long week at school and then leave for Dland on Sunday. I know you are rolling your eyes and saying deal, but just place yourself back in that time zone of living with crabby children..... and you know mine are mostly not too crabby.

Then you can have Saturday to still enjoy SF and come down here to see Pirates (yes I'm sure they will want to see it 2 nights in a row) and stay at Pruneyard Inn and fly out with us in the am from SJC. Our flight info was just emailed to you so you can make the same one if you wish to fly with me on bloody marys (or R&C) depending on the way I feel that day.

My comment was to narrow down what you want to see in Northern CA, not the whole week....there are a million and one things to see in the bay area cities of E tickets so if you make a planned day of it you can ride every ride....(did that make it in a language that made sense???):lmao:

When we first talked you did sound like you really wanted to see Napa, SF, SJ, Monterey and more (hmb) but that is ALOT in 2 days to cover.

the Drive to Dland from my house is 5:25 hours:minutes says my car. We have made it in 5 1/2 hours ONLY in the dead of night (2-3 am) driving any other time in LA and you can get stuck for 1-2-3 hours in traffic. If I had to make a flight I'd plan many extra hours to be sure, or make sure there are other later flights to change with....

This is getting too complicated, I need to go have a drink now....:hippie:

(not to mention that we are in the middle of those cookie sales....she is at 700+ boxes can you tell it's taking an emotional toll on her mother :sad2:

ok.....ya also talked about desire to see Monterey at one time too ya know....

I am awaiting Rose's reply on the fly vs drive question, I am ok either way...I'm flexible like that ;)

We will definately be taking you up to SF after arrival.

Yay!

I was thinking it would be too much for you...I remember what it's like, I work with kids at the store and skate park every day. I love kids, mostly because I can send them home with their parents when the fun is over. (and they start getting crabby)
;)

Didja see POTC II got an Oscar for effects? I'm so proud...I posed the flying question to Rose, just awaiting her answer.

When I get my brochures I just ordered I will have a more specific idea of where I'd like to visit. I saw stuff on the Fishermans Wharf, Alcatraz, Pier 39, the Trolly Cars, Museums, the GG Bridge...I wanna see it all!

When we first talked you did sound like you really wanted to see Napa, SF, SJ, Monterey and more (hmb) but that is ALOT in 2 days to cover.

I am happy narrowing my touring down, I'd rather be relaxed than rushed.

Again, just waitin on Rose to see how we're gonna go...

Ya know what's funny, I looked at my clock at about 20 after 12 and knew you were writin a reply to me at exactly that moment...we are soooo sisters seperated by birth.

(not to mention that we are in the middle of those cookie sales....she is at 700+ boxes can you tell it's taking an emotional toll on her mother :sad2:

Yay Molly!!!!!!!!! and Mom (cause I know you are a huge part of her success.) I'm sad to see the cookies disappearing from my area already...but my butta-belly isn't.

just so ya know the drive to LA doesn't include a Monterey side trip at 5.5 hours...you would be adding 3(at least 2 for driving) hours at least for that. and then not sure you'd see much in that time....really the flight is the way to go as the scenery is boring and ugly (did I mention the cows at Harris Ranch, the midpoint and height of smellyness?)

One another topic....

Leeanna is in surgery right now. (for her neck/spine) I think it's being fused, I wasn't really able to hear the whole story because it was freaking me out, so I went into lalalala land after she started telling me. It's a 3 hour surgery and I'm mostly freaking out waiting to hear how she is. I called her boyfriend a minute ago and he said another hour or so......please, prayers, pixie and Rum & Coke, oops too early Bloody Mary...nope have to drive and see her later, ok just prayers and pixie today please.

If we drive I'd expect it to be straight thru...

Monterey can wait for the next trip~

Yes, I am already expecting to want to do this again sometime...

Lotsa P&PD for Leeanna

Holler at us when you know she's ok, Ok?

LYMI,

c.

ya I'll post as soon as I know.

I'm sitting here worrying and crying. She told me last time we talked that she has to give up roller coasters after surgery. She was a bit bummed at that, me too since now I have to take the kids on them.

I know now...she is out of surgery and is moving to recovery. The doctor said things went well and she will be moving to her room in the next hour.

relief....

Grad Night Dates have been published!

May 24th and 31st are both grad nights during our trip...

Nan, how do we work around that? I guess that means our first night (the 24th) we might wanna just do DTD or DCA? Maybe dinner or shopping or just hanging out together? The 31st is our check out day so I guess that doesn't factor in~Grim and Dede, you might want to note it since you two are staying longer. I think the 4th of June was one as well.

I'm confused - I thought you were going to be in San Jose May 24th, and weren't going to be in Anaheim until the 27th.
