A disney trip with no parks??

I am doing it for the first time in May. I am going 3 nights pre-cruise. I am stressing already about what we will do. I know we will do SAB at least one day since I have never been to BCV before. I have to plan the rest because if I don't then I will be buying park passes that are not in the budget..:scared:

YOU CAN DO IT!
Staying at BCV you can:
* resort hop to BWV or even Swan and Dolphin
*walk over to the Boardwalk and eat, go to dualing pianos, do boardwalk games
*go to GF and ride the monorail to the other Disney Resorts
*watch fireworks from GF or Poly or Contemporary
*go to DTD-DisneyQuest (extra $)
*go fidhing at OKW or Port Orleans
*resort hop
*visit our new HOME on the Savannah
*dine at fun places w/ the Disney experience, not in the park-character meal
*ride the monorail to EPCOT and then back TTC

so much more, but trying to suggest things that will not cost too much extra.
ENJOY IT ALL.
Besides, if you are going on the cruise you will get in alot of character time.

Thanks for the pep talk and the ideas! I needed them both.:flower3:

We never did a trip with no parks but we did a 6 day trip with 2 park days. We took the kids to Ft. Wilderness for the Sing-along and the movie, they roasted marshmallows and made friends and the movie is always a family friendly Disney flick. We saw "The Kid" It was a great night- and completely free- except we did buy the marshmallows.- You should bring bug repellent. We got lost on the Ft. Wilderness campus though.

I've done the no-park thing on a number of occasions. That's one of the reasons I like the Boardwalk. Plenty of walking around places, can sit on the boardwalk in the evening and enjoy the majority of Illuminations from EPCOT, plenty of restaurants in the area, good pools, and plenty of relaxation.

Remember, your room key gets you on their transportation as well. Use it to ride to Downtown Disney or even to ride the monorails and go photo hunting.

I even rented boats at the Yacht Club and at the Contemporary one year and did photo shoots of the areas.

There are a LOT of things to do without ever setting foot in the parks, if you so desire.

Have fun!

While we have never done a non park trip, we have gone down there with the DK's for over a week and only did the parks once...

We kept them busy by doing activities at the Community Hall, pool hopping, going to DTD, etc... They had a great time and seemed to be content hanging by the pool...

As a matter of fact, they got to know a couple of the CM's at OKW real well last year are still talking about them several months later... :)

Anyone ever stayed at a WDW resort and NOT  gone to the parks?

We keep trying to do this one time. Alas, we're abject failures, we've never been able to do it.

But it's a goal in life. It's important to have goals...

There are some resorts (to us) that would be conducive to staying away from the parks. VWL, OKW, SSR, AKL (for a few days anyway).

But resorts like BWV and BCV would be very difficult for us not to want to go in. I remember when we stayed at BCV. We could hear Off Kilter playing and we would have to go! It is just too tempting.;)

I completely agree! During our 2nd wk at WDW last Aug (first wk VWL, 2nd wk BCV) we werent planning on going into EpCot 2 of those days. Well I knew I HAD to go! DH & DS stayed behind to chill but I was right out in front of Off Kilter! yup need my fix

This coming Aug there may be a few night Im at EpCot w/out DS. He has his MYW tick, I'll have an AP

OK we have already given up changed our BCV ressie ( we were going to have to move all nights were not available) and decided to buy AP's. OK add us the the failure list.:sad2: :guilty: :headache:

Thanks everyone for your input! I am so excited now. We are staying 5 nights at SSR (our home). We stayed there in December but didn't get a chance to enjoy it as we were showing our friends just about everything at WDW. (We think we have them converted, they are already talking about there next trip, LOL :yay: ) The kids still seem fine with it. They can't wait to hang out at the pool. We are also planning a trip to Clearwater Beach and throwing in a Devil Rays game, (wish they were playing the Red Sox, but alas we will have to settle for the Orioles). We are also going to venture down to the Disney Wilderness preserve and take a "buggy ride" (unless they cancel it in which case we will settle for a hike.) The rest of the time we just plan to relax and play things by ear. Mini golf, shop, wander around some of the other resorts, especially AKL, and try to relax. I like the idea of eating at Ohana and watching wishes from there. We considered California grill but REALLY don't want to take tha kids there, DS (6), DD (4). I can't wait to get there!!

Is there a boat from BWV to DTD???

There are no failures at WDW!! Just "Happy Accidents";)

Enjoy yourself! It will be fun!!

Is there a boat from BWV to DTD???

Nope. But the buses run fairly regularly there after about 10:30 or 11:00 a.m. Before that, you may wait a while.

The boats only go between EPCOT, MGM, Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club, and Swan & Dolphin.

One of the times we did a air boat road in the beginning as they said of the everglades. It was really cool and we saw some gators and alot of wildlife. My kids loved it. We also spent many nights at DTD eating and shopping. I did take the kids to the Virtual Reality place at DTD "name just slipped me". Your kids will definitely be video gamed out after that day and I don't think I played a game for 6 months after that.

My wife loves the outlet shopping. I always have to make that trip. One time I just happen to book a tee time during shopping day. There are great deals and it is only a few miles from DTD.

Have fun. Some of our funnest trips have been without parks, but still love doing those also.
