A Disney Dining Diva's Summer Surprise Dining Report -COSMIC RAY'S *COMPLETE* PAGE 8!

I've only been to 1900 Park once and only because we were travelling with little girls and I did find that it had the bset buffet. I'm happy to see some sushi there.

Can't wait until we got to 1900 Park Fare. I've heard so many great things about the characters and it makes the so so food worth it :thumbsup2

I've read in so many reviews that 1900 PF has really good character interaction but mediocre food. I really want to try 1900 PF but DS keep on refusing saying that he doesn't want to deal with stepmother and stepsisters since they are evil!

Enjoying your reviews! I had no idea they had sushi @ 1900 PF. We're going for breakfast though!:sad2:

Great reviews so far! Me and my hubby love CSR and one of the main reasons we choose it is because of the food in the Pepper Market. Its not the best food we've ever had but its way better then the regular food courts at other resorts becuase its made fresh to order. I :lovestruc the market nachos and I usually just ask for shredded cheese instead of the cheese sauce. Even then my nachos get pretty soggy at the bottom so I cant even imagine what it would be like with the cheese sauce, haha.

iloveeeyore is currently on a 4 day run at work, AND starting her next semester in pursuit of an advanced degree.

Don't worry. The report will continue soon. (Even I'm waiting!)

I just saw this; I'm off to bed now, but subscribing and back to catch up tomorrow.

***All caught up now.

I am so happy that you enjoyed your meal at the Pepper Market (it has a real love/hate relationship with people).

We've never been to 1900 so I appreciate seeing your review. Without having young kids any more, we tend to only do one character meal and for me it has to be Crystal Palace for Tigger and Pooh.

Hi, KatMark! I'm so glad you are following along with my DR. I guess you are in WDW now? Or maybe just back. Hope your trip is (or was) fantastic!

We only do one or two character meals per trip, too. We did CP in 2001 right before MNSSHP, and we thought it was great! Eeyore is my favorite, and he has been really scarce around the parks the last few trips, so heading back to CP might be the only way to catch him. I'm considering booking either an early dinner or an early breakfast there next trip. We normally don't do big breakfasts, but it would be nice to get into MK before 8 one day. And I think the dinner buffet there is awesome!

The sushi was definitely the highlight of the buffet, along with the strawberry soup. I'm glad you're following my DR. Please stay tuned!

Yes, the characters were great! And there are enough selections at the buffet that I would think everyone would find something to their liking. For example, my family filled up on soup and sushi! Thanks for reading!

Haha! I'd say that their behavior was mischievous, but not evil...not scary. Cinderella and Prince Charming were delightful. I wouldn't rush to go there if everyone in the family is not really into it. If someone doesn't want to go...you're not missing THAT much! There are plenty of other experiences for everyone to enjoy. Thanks for reading my DR. More coming up soon.

I'm so glad you are enjoying my reviews. More are coming up very soon! I'm not sure they have sushi every day...I wasn't expecting it, either. It was definitely the highlight of the dinner buffet. I have heard that they have the strawberry soup at breakfast, too. That was Yummy!!!!! Thanks for reading!

We loved CSR, too, and would return in a heartbeat! Oh, that is a good idea about the shredded cheese on the nachos, and is now on my list for next time! My entree will definitely be the steak ranchero, but "someone" will need to get some nachos with shredded cheese to share! Thanks for reading and for your compliment on my reviews!

Aw, hubby, you are so helpful and supportive! Next review coming up!

Our first full day in WDW, Wednesday, was at Magic Kingdom! We had a late, late dinner planned that night (9:30 HDDR), so we had to hold ourselves off for a late-ish lunch. We enjoyed some dole whips (sorry, no photo) to stave off the hunger. Aladdin and I prefer the pineapple float with pineapple/vanilla swirl whip, Herc likes the pineapple juice with vanilla float, and Belle likes her pineapple/vanilla swirl in a cup. This was very refreshing and filling at around 11, so we made it easily to 1:30 for lunch.

I had been looking forward to CHH since our trip last summer when we never made it here, though I can't remember why?

I had been really wanting to try the fried shrimp platter:

This was served with cole slaw:
083126lunch7.jpg

...and it was delicious! I believe I counted 9 or 19 shrimp on the plate. I was able to finish all of them, but I just couldn't finish all of my french fries, so I shared those with Belle. The thing about the shrimp is that they were very heavily breaded. The shrimp themselves were only about half the size that they appeared because they had so much breading on them. Now the breading was very good, crunchy and not at all greasy, but I would say that this was the mildly disappointing thing about the meal. I think next time I eat at CHH, I will get either the shrimp and fish combo, one of the new fish dishes, or the hummus sandwich. I did pull the breading off of my last 2 shrimp. The cole slaw was absolutely perfect to my taste. Loved it!

Aladdin and Hercules had the fish and shrimp combo platter, also served with cole slaw:

They loved this and ate every bite. I would like to tell you I got a taste of the fish...but that didn't happen!

Belle ordered the broccoli and chicken salad, and her dessert was the apple crisp:
083126lunch4.jpg

Belle liked the salad, she was trying to select something on the healthy side and not fried since we would be feasting on fried chicken at HDDR that night. She thought the salad was OK, nothing special, it was a little over-dressed (so not so healthy after all), and she would have the hummus sandwich next time. 3 of us had that apple crisp for dessert and we thought it was just delicious, served still warm!

Our 4th dessert was the chocolate cake:
083126lunch2.jpg

This was the same chocolate cake that is available at all of the CS places in the parks. It was fine, nothing special.

What I love about CHH is that the selections are very different from your typical CS type of meal, they have seafood and apple crisp, and the atmosphere is absolutely wonderful and relaxing. We love the upstairs seating, and find it such a nice cool break from the bustle of the park. For Aladdin and me, CHH is a must-do, for the kids, they could take it or leave it. There are lots of new items on the menu now, including salmon and lobster roll, which I would really love to try, too. I could eat here every day and not get bored. If you've never tried CHH, put it on your list!

Subbing!! Loved the intro's, my hubby and I always say we are going to retire to Disney , I want to be a greeter waving my big Mickey hand and he wants to be the tram driver: "Next Stop Goofy 12". Hey a girl can dream right??!!??

We absolutely adore HDDR. I can't count the number of times I have personally seen it, because I don't remember every one from my childhood. In 1991, Aladdin and I visitied WDW with a group of young adult friends, and to my dismay, I was unable to convince the others to give it a try. 2001 was the first time we took the kids to WDW, and I was quite nervous about bringing them; I knew I would love it, but I feared they would find it too corny. The kids were 7 and 5 at the time, and Aladdin was eager to try whatever I decided upon, so we did give it a try. It was a HUGE hit, and the kids talked about it for months when we got home. It became a family tradition. We brought my in-laws a few years later, and they had a blast as well. This dinner show is a must-do for all ages. To us, it is one of the very best attractions Disney has to offer, and is one of our favorite, if not THE favorite, dining event in the whole wide world (not just WDW).

It is amazing that we never tire of it. It does seem a little different each time, but many of the jokes are repeated time and again. It is still knee-slapping hilarious! The food is delicious, but simple. Here is the menu:

They start you off with salad and cornbread:
083141supper1.jpg

The salad is fine, nothing special, but the dressing is light. The cornbread is yummy! It is very hard not to fill up on it...especially at 9:30 when one is starving! For our unlimited beverages, Aladdin chose light beer (he had a few), I chose sangria (so good...I think I had 3 glasses!), Belle got the pomegranate lemonade and Herc enjoyed about a gallon of apple juice!

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any pictures of the rest of the food. By the time the rest of the stuff came, we were way too involved in the show to think about taking photos. I will tell you that the ribs and chicken were cooked to perfection, the chicken was crunchy and juicy, and the ribs were tender and not fatty. The mashed potatoes were out of this world, and we asked for more drumsticks and more potatoes. The strawberry shortcake is absolutely delicious if you like real strawberry shortcake. The cake is a REAL shortcake, like a buscuit, not too sweet...not just yellow cake like most strawberry shortcakes. The berries are fresh and the cream is real whipped cream. Delicious!

We had reserved Cat. 1 seats since they came with our DDP for the 9:30 show, but to tell you the truth, the place was not crowded at this hour, nobody was upstairs at all. Our table was smack in the center of the room, right and our table was actually the center of the action at a few points during the show (but I don't want to give away any surprises). If you are on the fence about doing this dinner show, please DOO IT!!!! It is still on our must-doo list for next trip.

Next up, our first Epcot day.

More reviews, yay! After your CHH review I had to look the menu up online because I didn't know they had added stuff to it. It makes me want to eat there so bad when we go in January for the fish and shrimp combo. Does the meal come with tartar sauce or cocktail sauce? :cutie:

It comes with a small container of cocktail sauce. You can see it in some of my photos. I'm sure you can ask for extra, if it's not enough. There are also packets of tartar sauce and malt vinegar on the condiments bar...Aladdin and I think everything was Heinz brand, but we could be mistaken about this. I thought the cocktail sauce was pretty good, so I didn't venture out. Aladdin loves malt vinegar on his fried fish, and he said whatever was offered was delicious. Enjoy!!

Thanks for reviewing HDDR. You don't see too many reviews for it. We're going on our next trip!

Great reviews. You have convinced me that we need to go to the Hoop Dee Doo on our next trip.

Look forward to reading the rest of your reviews.
