Correct me if i'am wrong, but i think it as to do with the french language.
The contest rules have to be available in both franch and english to be valid in the province of Québec. :sad2:

We miss out on several very very nice contests because of that stupid rule...

Good luck to all who can participate

I think it's more than just language, Loto Quebec is involved too. Everything has to be very complicated here...

It's not just the language thing, Quebec has very tough hurdles to jump for contests. You may also notice that even Canadian contest with both french and English rules exclude Quebec.

The main factor in anything with Disney is the advertising to kids aspect, and yes the French thing too, but we are not allowed to participate in Movie Rewards since it is considered targeted to kids since collecting the rewards requires buying movies and the kids will ask for the movies if they know they can get points and exchange them for something else... blah, blah, blah.

Just wanted to thank the OP for posting this. I entered the contest today.

I had actually received an e-mail about this contest, but had deleted it without reading the details because I thought " oh, another contest for U.S. residents only".

Lesson learned!

I have been entering Movie Rewards contests for years, and I have won several smaller secondary prizes on them. I think the contests have bene good in Canada as long as the program has been good here!

Good Luck to all that entered.

And the Contest in Quebec thing has to do with the regulations of The Regie des Loteries et Courses du Quebec

When a contest is run in Quebec, it has to go through a separate body called the "Regis des Jeux et des Lotteries" before ANYTHING can be given away. This board is set up by the Quebec provincial government and imposes a tax on prize value. Anyone who runs a contest in Quebec has to give the Regis des Jeux et des Lotteries 10% of the prize value. Not only is this tax commission expensive, but also involves weeks of applications, justifications, and reports. Often, our sponsors can't wait 4-6 weeks to get approval from this body. So even though we would love to include contestants from Quebec, the Regis des Jeux et des Lotteries quite honestly, presents too many loopholes.

the French province of Quebec with almost one third of the population of Canada is often not included in any contests. Indeed, it has to do with charity and contest laws in the province of Quebec. When planning national contests, companies are confronted with a unique set of rules and regulations in order to include Quebec. The Regie des Loteries et Courses du Quebec requires long preparation times and fees for approval. As a result a great number of national contests promoted by national brands exclude the province of Quebec. To shed some light on the issue, we have contacted the government agency responsible for slot machines, horse races, lotteries, sweepstakes and contests in Quebec. The following is a list of required steps in order to accomplish the impossible, get a sweepstakes approved in this unique Canadian province. The rules of a publicity contest must be accessible to the public and must include as a minimum:

·The conditions for entering the contest
·The places where the public must deposit or send the contest entry forms
·The deadline for entering the contest
·A description of the method of awarding the prizes
·The place, date and time the prizewinner will be named
·The media used to inform the winners of the prizes won
·The place, date and deadline for claiming prizes, or where applicable, whether the prizes will be delivered to the winner
·The information about how a jury will select the winners
·The nature of the skill-testing requirement that a winner has to satisfy in order to claim his prize
·A person for whom a publicity contest is carried on shall furnish security to the board where:
1)Has a head office or place of business in Quebec declared in accordance with the laws of Quebec
2)He has not been convicted of an offence against the Act or these Rules in that year precede the date of the launching of the publicity contest
3)That the value of a prize offered to Quebec residents is more than $ 100
