A Disney-addicted mom plans a trip in August, 2010! *New pics #574*

Amanda, I have a diagnosis that's similar to Zachary's... the doctors actually told my (very young, very scared) parents that I wouldn't be able to walk or use my hands to write, and I do both pretty well, even if I'm super klutzy sometimes.

It seems your son is doing really well. Don't let the words define him. He'll be great.

Can't believe I'm getting in so late on your PTR - don't know how I overlooked it!! I plan to go back through it and catch myself up on your plans - so exciting that your trip is getting so close :goodvibes

Sorry to read about your son's diagnosis - it sounds like you guys are getting him all the right help. And it sounds like this trip may be just what you all need: a time to be together as a family and have fun!! :grouphug:

Thank you!!! I appreciate your kind words. It's hard to let words define Zachary. He's one of these children who charms everyone who meets him. At the end of the year daycare party, his OT was trying to explain it to us. She said, "The center is filled with cute kids but Zachary is special. It's his personality that shines through." He's just a happy, happy child. He wakes up with a smile on his face every morning. He has his 2 year old moments for sure but he's really a wonderful child. (My other 2 are wonderful but in totally different ways. Each one has his or her own special quality. Zachary's quality is bringing a smile to the world.)

Hi Sarah! And WELCOME!!!!
We totally need a vacation right now!

Oh, matching shirts will be cute! I believe the ones you can put your names on through the disneyshopping website were not too expensive?

Your trip is coming right up :rotfl:

I really can't wait to see how your trip goes with the august heat and all. I've been thinking about it today and if my stepson wants to go in august so he doesn't have to miss school we may do next august instead of may? We'll see.

Less than 3 weeks!
We didn't put names on the shirts and I did pseudo-matching. They have the same graphic and words but the styles are slightly different. Tom and Nathaniel's match; Jessica's and mine match (I prefer more tailored t-shirts); and Zachary's has a blue background since that's all they had in his size. They all have Perry the Platypus on them and say, "Yes...Yes we are." Which is, of course, a Phineas and Ferb reference.

I'll definitely let you know! We are NOT commando-style tourists. My kids are too young to tolerate long days in the park, heat or no. We plan to take full-advantage of the fabulous pool at BC!!!

Opinions needed:
I was thinking it might be fun to add a celebration to each of our ADRs. I let each child pick one meal (I picked for Zachary) and I was thinking of adding a celebration for that child at that meal. Example: For Zachary we're celebrating that he can now walk. For Nathaniel we could celebrate kindergarten graduation. Etc.
Is that a weird idea? Is it too much?

That sounds like so much fun!! And each of the kids would have the opportunity to have their magical meal. :lovestruc I know how tough it can be to give the kids individual attention and special times so I think this would be fantastic! :goodvibes

Amanda,
I don't think it's weird. Infact on one or 2 of my ressies I did that.... For the boys it was "too cool for little school" Both boys are now at the 'big school' (elementary school, Shane is starting K and Cody is starting 1st).

I think I may add my Nana's B-day onto our ressie with them. Her and Papa are coming to MK one day along with my mom (as a surprise) and I booked Crystal Palace for dinner. I think I put in Celebrating 4 generations as the celebration, but I may switch it to Nana's B-day as that is early Sept! I have a little time yet to 'fine tune' it!

I like the idea of letting the kids pick. We let the boys pick our 1st night ressie...WCC. Thye call it "the place with the Lincoln Logs" :rotfl:
Not to be Debbie Downer, but would the kids get upset if one kid had something special happen at their night and they didn't? From what I hear Disney is not consistant with what they do for celebrations.

Under 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay for you! I can't believe how fast my trip is coming up. Just under 2 months.....when I started my PTR it was well over a year, now we are under 2 months!

Amanda

Just catching up. Your little Zachary is in my thoughts as well as you, there is nothing more stressful than upsetting news about your child. Sometimes though it ends up way better than we thought so that is what I am hoping for you. Your trip is coming at a great time for your family, and as far as the celebration question......my vote is celebrate away!:goodvibes

I also think the celebration idea sounds like fun! That is the theme of the year so go for it!

Zachary is such a great kid! We're so lucky!!!

I think that sounds really fun, and how special that they each get their own meal. It's a great idea!

Thanks!

Cool! Thanks!!!

So now I just need to get my act together and add the celebrations. I think I'll do "Zachary walking" for the Hollywood and Vine lunch, "Nathaniel graduating kindergarten" for the Garden Grill dinner, and "Jessica starting pre-K" for the Princess dinner. I'm debating adding "Mommy passing her boards" to a meal and maybe something for my DH....
We haven't received our DME tags yet. Should I be worried???

Amanda

That's definitely a cute idea! It is the year of celebrations! Go for it! The kids may get some extra attention too! Very cute!

Mommy passing her boards definitely deserves a celebration! In fact that one may warrant 2 or 3 celebrations!

Oh goodness.....totally forgot to order DME...thank you thank you thank you for mentioning:worship:

Can not believe I have been so off on this trip! See what happens when you think you know it all!

I feel the same way! Glad I could help!!!

I just "cashed out" for my second $25 gift card from quickrewards! Woohoo! Each of the older kids will now get one gift card to spend. Poor Zachary! :thumbsup2
