A Disney-addicted mom plans a trip in August, 2010! *New pics #574*

Hi, Amanda!!
Got a little behind, but just caught up! Loved reading about your Target spree!! Stepping foot in there is beyond disastrous for my wallet-- I always manage to convince myself to buy things we don't need!!
You said you wanted new sunglasses-- where are you looking? Do you want nice ones or cheap ones? I know I probably sound crazily interested, but I LOVE sunglasses!! I've had everything from Dollar Tree sunglasses to vintage Prada's.
Sounds like you guys had fun at SP! Sorry the heat/crowds weren't in your favor.

Too funny about sunglasses! I usually buy the $15 Target sunglasses. This time I ordered a pair from L.L.Bean that arrived today. They're nice! I'll try to take a pic when I have time.

looks like a fun time!!

Thank you!

Amanda

I can't believe my trip is coming up SO quickly! Boy do I need it!!! :scared1:

Trip stuff:
Placed an order with garden grocer to arrive between 7pm and 9pm on 8/21. Our flight lands at 5:50pm so the timing should work out well. I'm hoping they come on the early side so I can get the kids to bed....

Made a reservation with Kids Nite Out for a babysitter on 8/26. Having the sitter come at 6pm and we have 7pm reservations at Bluezoo. I think that'll work out well. I'll have some time to show her around before heading to dinner.

Bought APs for the children. Rumor has it that ticket prices will increase on Sunday so I needed to get this done. I was hoping to wait until my bonus showed up and/or my raise kicked in but I didn't want to miss the lower price.

News of the week: Zachary had a neuro evalution this week. He's been in Early Intervention since January for a motor delay. He was seen by physiatry 2 weeks ago and he noted more weakness on the left compared to the right. We saw neuro on Monday and they believe that Zachary has mild CP (Cerebral Palsy). We're still reeling from the news and trying to figure out what it all means. We will definitely get a GAC so that Zachary can stay in his stroller while waiting in line. He can't stand/walk for long periods of time without getting tired (and wanting mommy to carry his 30lbs around!). We're a little sad and confused but trying to learn as much as possible. I'm going to take him for a 2nd opinion in the next few weeks. We're also waiting for his orthotics to be approved/made.

Amanda

Sorry to hear about Zachary's diagnosis. I hope the second opinion has better news for you! I'm sure it's overwhelming to think about. It can always be so scary the things that are out of our control. We're here for you! Keep us updated!

On the trip front, sounds like you're getting a lot done! Your plans sound great so far and I'm glad you're finishing it all up. Sounds like you will need a vacation after all this!

Hey, Amanda! It's Shel! I can't believe you've had this planning journal going on for so long and I never found it! :)

OMG!!! Hi Shel! I'm so happy to see you!

I can only imagine how scary hearing Zachary's diagnosis has been. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

 I'm sure you're feeling overwhelmed and scared right now. I am thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way.

As for your trip- you are making great progress!

So sorry to hear about Zachary. I can only imagine how scary the "what do we do next" feeling is. We're here for you.
That's great that you're getting a baby-sitter--the date night will be lots of fun, I'm sure!

I haven't checked in with your PTR in a while. I'm so sorry to hear about your son! I hope all is well with him!

Sesame place looks so cute! I too, love the cookie monster picture.

We've done Kids Nite Out before. It's great to have family time but Tom and I also need a break. We both work high-stress jobs so we try to make time for grown-ups too!!!

Thank you! Sesame was cute. Tom and I were laughing at ourselves for comparing to Disney all the time. Disney does some things better - more interesting queue stuff, fastpasses, etc. but Sesame had some really fun water ride stuff that was appropriate for the younger kids.

Just caught up again. Loved the Sesame Place photos...that one of your husband is too funny! Sounds crazy hot though!

You seem incredibly organized for the trip!:worship: I don't know how you are so on top of things - it is always a last-minute rush for me.

So sorry to hear about Zachary's diagnosis. I am so glad you know about the GA card. That will make for much easier touring for the whole family. I agree with a previous poster - now more than ever it sounds like you need a good break and time to recharge and have some fun as a family!

Take care Amanda!!! Thinking of you!!!

sorry to hear about the diagnosis :( I bet you are getting psyched for the trip though! I'm glad that you will be able to use the GAC :)!!!!!!

Sesame was really fun. I can honestly recommend it!!!
I don't feel like I'm as organized as some other people here! :lmao: I have to be somewhat organized because my job is so demanding. There isn't a lot of "free" time to get things done. Thank you!!!
We're pretty excited to enjoy time away to just have fun and not worry about anything.

Thanks! I'm totally counting down the days until the trip!!!

I just want to say thank you to everyone for being so awesome and supportive. It really means a lot!!!

Here's my new idea: I want to buy matching t-shirts for my family so when I'm flying solo with the 3 kids, everyone knows that we're together. I need to go on the Disney website (blocked at work) and look for some cute ideas. Any suggestions? We're leaving in 3 weeks so I need something that can be done quickly. And I'd love it make my own but don't really feel that I have time for that!

Amanda

I have bought disney-themed shirts from zazzle.com and you can write what you want on them and make them matching. It's the lazy mama's way of "making" t-shirts!

Here's the link to the zazzle site:

http://www.zazzle.com/disney

The shirts were nice and everything printed great. A word to the wise, white eyes will not show up white on a shirt of a different color.

Thanks for the link. It's blocked at work but I'll check it out when I get home tonight.

The Sesame Place photos are adorable!

Thank you.

I'm having a very nonproductive day at work. Much rather be here! :lmao:

Have you tried Etsy? There are some sellers who will do shirts quickly. There's plenty of time to get something shipped I think.
