I am not sure if this is where to post this or not, but ya'll have to read about this one... Stick with me...it's VERY Disney!!!

There is a neighborhood about 10-15 minutes away from my office called Sweetbottom Plantation. A 41-year old man that used to work for Disney (or do sub-contracting work for Disney) built an exact replica of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion in the Garden District portion of the neighborhood. He did everything down to the last detail...with The Haunted Mansion sign built in to the front gate of the house, flickering lights, animatronics on the interior and when you look in a mirror in the house a ghost is standing next to you. The only things missing are the Doombuddies. He also has a 3-story Disney museum in the back. It is a gated neighborhood, so I am still trying to figure out how to get in there to see it. I know about it because there was an article in the newspaper about it.

I had to share with my fellow DISers. If I have to be jealous... so do you!!!

That is really awesome! I'd love to see photos!

I would find it hard to believe that something so cool and big like that would not have photos online somewhere, or have the ability to get photos.

I would look online through newspapers in your area to see if there are photos.

I looked online yesterday for a LONG TIME and did not see anything!!! There was a picture of the front of the house in the newspaper article, but that's it!! I know one of the realtors in the neighborhood, so I am thinking about calling him to take me in there...though I still wouldn't be able to see the inside. It seems a shame that this gut spent so much money to do this and nobody outside his family and friends get to enjoy it!!

Wow...that's awesome. Let us know if you find a link to photos.

Maybe he'd allow people to come through once a year for charity? You know, like when some group will have a tour of homes during the holidays, with the proceeds of tickets sold going to charity. Maybe you could organize it for the time around Halloween! You'd have to find out what his favorite charity is, and then find a few other places to tour, etc. He may already be doing something like that, which would be perfect, since then you'd only have to buy a ticket! How long has it been built? :)

It looks like there's a ghost hunting group in the Atlanta area, which might have given a tour of the Haunted Mansion replica at some point. I didn't have the patience to navigate their site for too long. Do a Google search on Mark Hurt, or Haunted Mansion Gwinnett, and maybe you can find out some more. :flower:

The link that was posted is the article that was in the Atlanta Jouranl-Constitution. Unfortunately, the article was written so long ago, that they don't have the rest of the article posted. The reason I remembered about this was because I had a dream about it the other night.

If I can find any more info. or somehow get to see the house, I will definitnely fill everyone in!
