DH and I were talking tonight and the question was "if one restaurant could be your kitchen...meaning, any time you wanted bfast, lunch, dinner or snack, you could have anything you want as long as it was on this restaurant's menu...which restaurant would it be?"
DH said Cape May. For me? Nowhere but Boma!
We had to check in up in the lobby, which was weird, but it worked well. We were able to wander through the Zawadi Marketplace instead of the zoo downstairs and we were seated within 15 minutes of checking in. We sat way back overlooking the pool and The Mara by the windows and it was great.
Diet coke, coke and chocolate milk again. Huge chocolate milk again for DS:
DS's Plate One:
Mac and cheese (heaven!), a chicken nugget and some fries. Missing? A slice of watermelon that was getting too close to the mac and cheese for his comfort.
DH's Plate One, nicknamed: "DH's Plate O' Meat"
BBQ ribs, chicken, prime rib. I had some of the ribs later and they were really interesting. Not a strong traditional BBQ taste, but very spicy (as in many spices) and very spicy (as in hot). DH thought they were "eh", but I liked them and thought they were an interesting change. He liked the chicken and the prime rib was good.
My Plate One and Bowl One:
Clockwise from top: pita triangles and flatbread, avocado and grapefruit salad, pasta salad, cilantro and lime salad, kalamata olive hummus, sundried tomato hummus.
The hummus, as always was awesome...I liked it better with the crunchy flatbread, but the pita triangles were good with it too. I like to mix the olive and tomato together.
The avocado and grapefruit salad is so good! Very refreshing and the avocado was perfectly ripe. I add a little salt and pepper and it's fantastic. There was another fruit in it (the things that look like tomato, but aren't) and I liked that a lot too.
Pasta salad: This was yellow and tasted very spicy (as in spices). This tastes like Boma smells. Does that make sense?
Cilantro and Lime salad: Very refreshing, sweet, crunchy with the wontons, and always a favorite of mine.
Carrot Ginger Soup. My favorite WDW soup ever. Best description: Liquid warm pumpkin pie. SO good!
DS's plate Two:
Yup. Seriously. A corn bread type bread and more watermelon.
DH's:
Kids pasta and meatballs, Potatoes with Afritude, more prime rib
He says "it was okay...it wasn't bad." Coming from He Who Hates Boma, this is high praise. "They aren't homemade meatballs, they are mass manufactured, but they aren't bad."
My plate Two:
Prime rib (not sure why he gave me so much??) with Boma mustard (behind prime rib), Mac and Cheese (YUM!), coconut rice (interesting...would taste good under a teriyaki stir fry, I believe), and BBQ rib.
DS's desserts:
Yay! Exotic cookie and brownie!
Desserts for (DH and) me:
Clockwise from top: Banana bread pudding covered with vanilla sauce. Cherry crumble, also covered in vanilla sauce, cocomisu, Zebra Dome, Chocolate Mousse, Amarula cake shaped like Everest.
Banana Bread Pudding: very good, a little dry, but good. I didn't finish it.
Cherry Crumble: VERY tart cherries. DH loved this! The vanilla sauce was good on it.
Cocomisu: traditional tiramisu with toasted coconut. Best dessert of the trip so far, hands down. No question. Excellent!
Zebra Dome: you may ask...why only one? I will answer in next post.
Chocolate Mousse: a little boozey, very chocolately, very good!
Amarula cake shaped like Everest: Okay. Moist cakeish thing. Nothing to write home about, but good.
And that was Boma. We have it booked again with the whole fam later this week and I look forward to going back!
