A different kind of flashing .... beware ....

I just wanted to clarify, that the reason for this being done, is what I am guesstimating. KGO Radio did not report the reason for the decision being made, just the result.

That is disgusting! Peeing in the Disney bushes? I have not seen that before nor have heard about it before either. ICK! Spitting on the ground is gross too.
I used to belong to a site iwth a lot of CMs and you would not believe what people do in public. Not mentioning it here as it is gross.

I was in line behind a woman whose pants were to low so that everyone was getting an eye full of her back side that would put a plumber to shame. One shirt was "Protect the tatas" and some are down right vulgar. I hate when them kids get on bridges and drop things on people below them.

:) Wow, how commendable of him to apologize to you, not many people would go out of their way to do that. And I'm also glad we can have discussions without getting angry. :goodvibes that's always nice. I love to have discussions about ANYTHING because I've always been very interested in finding out other peoples opinions. :confused3 IDK, I just always like to have different perspectives on things and see things the way other people do, not just the way I see them. I'm just very open-minded. Good talk

I know, I was quite surprised to say the least! I did thank him for apologizing and I did tell him I wouldn't have said anything except my kids were in the car, that's when he apologized to DD12. DD9 was outside with DBF at the time or I'm sure he would have apologized to her as well.
I try to be open minded and non judgemental as well. I know I have my "moments" but I love to talk like this. :)

Yes, I agree-this has been a very good and civil thread. And I am by no means a prude  and I don't have children--but I have been appalled by some of the clothing and language I have seen and heard in the parks. Even shirts that aren't obscene per se--but just are inappropriate. One that was probably "on the line" was a shirt that had a picture of a roll of toilet paper on it and said "That's Just How I Roll"--yes, not obscene, but really, you don't have something more appropriate to wear to a family park? And then I have seen some things that make my eyes pop out--both from what the clothes "say" to how little of the clothes there are (like the lady in the see-through top.) I hope that in some cases these people are coming in with jackets on and that is why the CM's initially don't catch them--but think it's sad that in a privately owned place like DLR Disney cannot ask a guest to wear appropriate attire and act appropriately.

(And don't get me started on the people spitting or allowing their children to urinate in the bushes)

See thru???? HUH??????????/ Geez.....and peeing in the bushes, that's just disgusting! How do people think that's OK to do?

It was in the plaza by Mickey and Friends parking--a father was letting his little boy "go" in the bushes and as I walked by I said something and the father said--well, there's no restroom. and I said--yes there is--right there and pointed to the restrooms. So he sheepishly picked up his kid and took him over to the restrooms. Unbelievable.

Unbelievable.

I agree! Ever wonder what culture and or country one may be from, that makes the person believe it is ok to do that sort of thing? Or up bringing for that matter.

"No restrooms"? Wow! Must be a different DLR than the one I visit, because at the DLR I visit, one can't walk for more than, oh, 2 minutes before finding a restroom! Why, there are so many restrooms that there's even a "secret" restroom! (And, NO, it's NOT in the bushes by the parking structure...)

I feel that we have all had this discussion in a very adult and grown up manner, I don't think the mods need to worry about it or shut it down. :)

I've had many instances with individuals being inappropriate around kids, not just mine either. A few times it's ended very well, a few not so well. I think the best was on Mother's Day when a young man was very upset about something and was very loud and dropping the F bomb like crazy, I said something and he told me "this doesn't concern you lady" and I said "you're right, your discussion does not concern me but your language concerns me when I have children in my car with me". Apparently he was so upset he didn't realize I had kids in my car and he did tone it down. Once we stepped into the restaurant he actually came up to me and DD12 and apologized to us both for his behavior. We both thanked him and I felt that was a good indication of how this kid was going to grow up. It's common courtesy and honestly I feel that too many people don't have that in our world anymore. Freedom of expression if a beautiful thing and I don't begrudge anyone their right to it, but there is a time and a place for it and I don't feel that DL is it. :)

Great talk everyone! This is one of the things I love about our area of the Dis, we can talk about things like this without it getting heated and angry. :)

i totally agree with yours and lauries etc comments ....when im at DL i will never ever use any words that to me are unacceptable in that area to me .. same as clothing ... im just funny about what t shirts i wear there as well , id never ever have to make anyone endure to me wearing a Spice Girls or Girls Aloud tshirt ..EVER!! .. im always on my best behaviour ...

While some of the bathroom behavior my be cultural it is basically all types of people and for some it is something they do not see wrong. One woman actually had a kid who had to potty and she was not going to wait for a monorail at WDW so she let the kid potty there. From the post it inferred she was a typical American who had a nasty attitude.

What I cannot understand is parents who let their kids run naked in fountains and water areas. I seen my share of them see through type clothing at the parks. At DCA there was a woman about 20 years old that had her jeans thrashed so that just strings were across the tops of her legs and the rips were very close to indecent exposure. I try to dress up enough so that I have no holes in my pants and no stains on my clothes so why go to parks with thrashed and ripped jeans. I would have trashed them jeans before being caught in public.

i would just like to note, i dont like seeing the shirts, skanky girls or making out either ( i dont like kissing in public at all)

but i would never imagine telling someone else they cant be themselves (benign, ordinary selves), even if it isnt pleasant. i guess being told i was wrong for everything i stood for my entire life makes me sensitive to all the censorship

and btw, i have totally asked someone to watch their mouth if what they are doiung is deeply offending me or anyone i am with, but its a case by case basis

:scared1: At least he took the kid to the bathroom when you pointed it out to him!!

My girls love the Spice Girls, they would happily wear a Spice shirt. LOL

No one is saying people can't be themselves, what we are saying is use some common sense and be respectful of those that are around, that's all. Freedom of expression is great but so is being respectful of others. kwim? That is what we try to teach our kids. :)

And yes, it's a case by case basis with us too, nothing is written in stone and things happen. The only thing we can control is how WE react to the actions of those around us and how we can use the actions of others are learning points for our kids. :)

Ok as someone who helped raise money for this cause, this shirt is actually a Breast Cancer awareness shirt. In fact I saw many a few weeks back at an event I do because those wearing the shirts had done a run/walk for Breast Cancer Awareness earlier that day. I know several surviors that wear these shirts regularly because they want people to ask them about their shirt.

This is the problem sometimes with deciding what is "vulgar" one persons offensive might be anothers cause. Sometimes its not as obvious as one of Carlin's 7 words writen on a shirt.

I work with a breast cancer awareness group, we make guitar picks for them that say "I heart (picture of a heart here lol) ****ies" LOL I know that last word will get * out so imagine what it might say other than bookies. LOL I have no problems with clothes that promote things like breast cancer but the shirt I saw had NOTHING to do with any kind of cancer, it simply referred to size he preferred with graphics on it. I gotta say, I really enjoy working with them, they are great people!! and in San Diego. :)

I admit not all shirts refering to breasts are cancer awareness shirts, I was actually just making my comment on the specific shirt mechurchlady saw, since that one was. Again I think most people agree that Carlin's 7 words are probably not appropriate for Disney, but wanted to again point out not everything is as cut and dry as that.

PS- If you ae not aware of them you can always google George Carlin's 7 words that can't be said on TV and you can see what they are, and the ironic thing that a free speech activist like Carlin is the reason they actually are the 7 banned words.

Heather: thanks for clearing that up--when I saw that I thought I remembered that being a breast cancer shirt but wasn't sure.

On the other hand, and don't get me wrong, I have a lot of gay friends--the t-shirt I saw on a woman that said "I'm so Gay I ____ Rainbows" (insert the s-word) I don't think was really appropriate. I saw it in line at Toy Story one day last year. Of course, I was more disturbed by the heterosexual teenage couple in front of me French kissing throughout the entire line!

what type of "go" was it? :lmao:
