Shhh, don't tell anyone, but that's exactly what I'm going to do. It's going to be an early bedtime for me.

I can top that! My dh grew up with a father who went thru ultra-religious phases. He would forbid his kids to brush their teeth or see a dr. Dh to this day refuses to take care of his teeth. He brushes when he feels like it or when he gets tired of hearing my mouth. His reasoning is "why spend all that money when they'll just get pulled out eventually anyway and I'll end up paying for dentures?". There is no convincing him otherwise. He also believes he'll have all his teeth pulled and get dentures that will last him the rest of his life! And he won't have to take care of the dentures either! My best friend works in a dental office and he refuses to believe anything she tells him.

Why on earth would a religion frown upon brushing teeth and dentistry??? I've never heard of that.

Does your DH ever have pain? Maybe that would convince him. I think my DH is seeing the light right now.

My husband is the same way about the dentist and Dr's. He currently as of about 2 months ago was supposed to go get lab work done because of irregular blood pressure when he went in for something related to getting a refferal for an eye check up. No matter what I do I can't get him in there for his blood work. He just blows everything off like it doesn't matter. My kids and I are going to be the ones that suffer if something bad happens. I think it is horrible.

from what his sister told me, it was a very conservative, don't trust the govt, don't talk to anyone who isn't one of "us", girls wear dresses and don't cut their hair, type of thing. Those are the highlights she gave me anyway. It probably was something along the lines of everything happens for a reason, you'll be cured by divine intervention.
