My boys and I flew last week on Tuesday home from Orlando. We had a direct flight to Indy that I had just confirmed Saturday morning. We were to depart MCO at 12:30. As I am checking in at 10am on Tuesday, the gal informs me that "that flight was cancelled"...?? I told her I just confirmed it Saturday (she then said that I was the 3rd person that morning that had said the same thing). I guess the bottom line is....confirm it within 24 hours...heck I thought I was doing good by 3 days but I guess not.

Anyhow to make a long story short: the next direct flight to Indy was at 4:30pm. I looked at her and my luggage and my 2 kids....that would have been the next 6.5 hours at the airport that I would have to entertain my boys :( I told her no..we tried for a reroute, but then we would have sat at Atlanta for 3 hours so I opted to stay where I was. She told me she couldn't even check my luggage until 12:30 for that flight so off I went luggage and kids in tow. We sat down to have breakfast and I pulled out my cell phone and called Delta's 800 number and told them how VERY unhappy I was and now I could see why I ususally flew with Airtran. The gal quickly comes up with us going thru Cincinnati and jumping over to Indy. We would land at 3:30pm in Indy. I jumped on it. Anyhow, we jump on the noon flight to Cincy only to arrive to be told that that flight was overbooked by 40 people! Anyhow, we opted to be bumped (we wouldn't have gotten on anyhow) and we each received a $225 voucher and a free dinner and we arrived in Indy at about 6:30p which we would have done on the 4:30p flight from MCO anyhow.

It did seem like an awful lot of trouble for free vouchers and I am not sure when I will use them but Delta sure does seem to have some serious kinks to be worked out....

Delta DEFINITELY has some kinks...I was literally called a liar by one of their customer "service" reps. at MCO after they screwed up and I asked them to correct their mistake. I don't mean to bash Middle East people (this happened long before the current trouble), but this rep. was from that background and was VERY offended that I (a mere woman) dared to be the one to speal to him and handle the situation, rather than my husband. Finally he said that he refused to deal with me!! Then he got really abusive when I wrote down his name from his name tag and told him that I was going to talk to a supervisor. Thankfully, the supervisor admitted the mistake and took care of it, but I couldn't believe they would put someone who refuses to deal with women in a customer service position.
