Hi everyone. Its your weekly WDW Warrior back for another tale of trams and rides. This week is going to be jam packed of stuff as we take a whirlwind tour of WDW. Are you ready? Strap yourself in and remember..no flash photography.

We decided that Friday(5/18/01) would be the best day to go this week as we wanted to stay somewhat late but not TOO late as I did have to work the next day. The next step, where to go. I wanted to do a waterpark, FDH said ok. So Blizzard Beach it was and the rest would be decided on a whim.

We got up at our normal hour of 12pm and were out the door by 1. Had to make 2 quick stops and were on the road by 2. Hit Blizzard Beach by 2:30. As we were rounding the property we the could tell this was going to be a mistake. The parking lot was not very full but it was 90 degrees and there were tons of people on the mountain. So we enter, after the usual issue with my ticket, and rented a locker. Of course we get a locker in the middle of a huge crowd and a whining child. I almost killed this kid. He just yelled and cried and had no tears in his eyes. Big FAKER!! Anyway, after the sunscreen is slathered on my easly burnt honey off we go to the chair lift. After a short wait, and people watching too, we make it to the top. What do we find when we get there....Yep. You guessed it. For those that didn't, we found a huge line for our favorite ride Teamboat Springs. There was NO WAY we were waiting so we headed back down around the back. Now comes the first big mistake...here is the biggest tip I can offer you. If you go to a water park, wear some kind of shoes. I mean it. The ground was HOT!!!!!    (symbolizes HOT). We do the hot ground dance down the mountain and decided that it is to busy to be up here so we hit the lazy river. Now keep in mind we had been here about an hour already and were just hitting the lazy river. Here is our 2nd big mistake. When we got in we noticed there was next to nobody in the river. We were overjoyed as usually there are kids climbing and splashing and such. Well we get to the cave area and see the crowds..DARN! Oh well. We finish the circuit and decide we had enough and leave. While dropping off my key we had an encounter with a rude CM. Off we go. As were were exiting we were stopped for a survey. The woman didn' seem interested at first but when she found how often we had been to WDW in such a short time(Once a week since 3/31) she perked up and was really nice! We told her our opinions and didnt sugar coat them and left. Next stop Downtown Disney.

We parked in lot A and headed for the bus stops. We jumped a bus destined for AKL. After waiting for what seemed like forever we finally were on our way. We arrived and were immeadialty awstruck! I love it. We checked out some animals and just generally walked around. We did stop at the food court type place(Name I can't remeber) and got some food. It was now almost 6pm and we decided that MGM would be the place to be. So we hopped a bus and off to MGM we went.

When we arrived at MGM we noticed that it wasn't very busy. When we got inside it was definitly not busy. The hat icon is finally up without any stars or anything else. Really neat! We went to the board and took note of what had no lines. We headed to Rock N Roller coaster with a posted 10 min wait but it was more like 5. After rocking out to Aerosmith we decided to check into the Tower of Terror with its 13 min wait. For those who are not familiar, when the wait is posted at 13 mins at ToT or HM it means no wait. We walked on and headed "to our room" The CM's were a riot here today. Was taking orders of what we wanted delivered to our "room". After an EXCELLENT drop sequence we decided to check out the animation tour. We just missed one and the next was going at 7:30 and that was still 20 mins away so we passed until next time. We walked up Mickey Ave and as we walked by Millionaire the CM's there said if we wanted to go in we could as the next show was just starting. We watched a 14yr old(I think) get to the 32,000 point mark. He used all life lines and the phone a stranger was just hilarious. A little tooo excited:p . The host was a bit annoying but hey, what you gonna do. As a side note we never even made the leader board..Darn. Next stop, Backlot tour. Once again no wait and also noticed that the water effect is closed. We boarded our tram and took our tour. Got a little wet on the Canyon but nothing major. By now it was 8pm and most people were heading for Fantasmic but we forgot the books to read so we skipped it and decided we would do it another time. We have yet to do this show. We took the Friendship boat to Yacht and Beach stop and walked to out next stop..EPCOT.

Now for those who are keeping score we have already been too MGM and Blizzrd Beach. It is also now 8:40. As we are taking our boat over we figured we would try to see Living with the Land but once inside and we decide to skip it. We get into EPCOT and check out Ice Station Cool(yuck Beverly!!) and out the front gates we go. We were in EPCOT for about 15mins..LOL. Went in from the Int. Gateway and out the front. We boarded the monorail. I asked for the front but got some dumb excuse, I just think he wanted to be alone:o . We get to TTC at about 9:15 and jump the Express monorail to MK. Now tonight was a E-night but since we were not resort guest we knew we couldn't ride. We headed right for Space Mountain and were on it in about 10 mins. We exited at about 9:55 and walked to Fantasyland watching Tink fly in the process. Now I have a question for you all..Is Tink a real person or a animatronic? I say real, FDH says animatronic. You decide. We watched the fireworks from Fantasyland and walked to Frontierland and watched the people on Splash Mountain. We then walked through Adventureland and out the gates. Now those who were with me last week knew about the HUGE crowds we faced upon exit. Yep, they were here again. We were smart this time and walked to the Contemporary. Once there we took the elevator to the 15th floor and out to the roof.

Now those who do not know, 400 acres of swamp are burning on the South West end of WDW property. There was also a small brush fire that broke out at EPCOT today. This small one was caused by a cigarette. Now I ask any one coming down to WDW in the near future to use EXTREME CAUTION. We are under an extreme drought and everything is very, very ,dry. Please don't throw out burning cigarettes from your car. We also saw a smoking box in MK that was actually smoking because someone did not put it out. I want to hit people who just drop them on the ground or toss them out the window.   Have some respect.
Sorry for that, I will step off the soapbox now.

Anyway we could see the fire raging from the roof. Amazingly you could only smell smoke at the end of the night when the wind must have shifted. We then exited the roof and headed for the monorail. We got off at GF and took a bus back to Downtown Disney. We were home by 12:30.

WOW what a day. Did all parks(sort of) except AK in just a few hrs. The crowds are really getting worse and worse in MK. MGM was not very busy and neither was EPCOT. AK didn't seem to bad either from what we saw of the parking lot. We were worried about the fires as it looked like it may have been close to AK but alas it isn't. Hopefully the fire is out soon. AKL is nice but I still prefer WL. My FDH has VERY strict standerds when it comes to hotels. Being night owls we prefer to have 24hr everyhting. The only hotels to meet our needs is the 7 Seas Lagoon Circuit(Contemporary, Poly and GF) All 3 have 24 pool and 24hr food. LOL. The 3 expensive ones..LOL..Looking for an AP rate on those..Anyway, thats our day. Until next week..

This is the Weekly WDW Warrior... signing off

Even though you didn't get to spend much time in each park, that was neat that you got to go to (almost) all of them (and a water park). :D

Oh, and personally I think that tinkerbell is "real" (human) not audio-animatronic, but that's just my guess.

I'm just about positive that Tinkerbelle is a real person. In fact somewhere in the back of my head I have the idea(this wd be info from year & years ago) that she is actually not a regular cm but specially selected somewhat like the young girl they used in the opening ceremonies of the last olympics that did all the flying.

Sounds like fun, Dax!
I was told in February by a CM that Tinkerbell is a real person, a hired CM who gets paid a lot of money to slide on that wire :)

DAX you absolutely amaze me with everything you are able to accomplish at WDW in just one day.

I enjoyed reading this. I'm praying for rain, I'd rather have rain while I'm there than smoke :)

Katholyn

After reading these boards, I am surprised we don't accomplish more. Of course my FDH knows nothing of these boards and wonders where I find all my knowledge:rolleyes:..LOL...Its my secret honey, now shut up and enjoy..LOL

Tinkerbell is definitely a real person. Usually a woman, sometimes a small man believe it or not.

As I said the first time I saw her flight...."That is one brave fairy!"

Wow, what a busy day! Thanks for posting, I like hearing about your trips to WDW.

Beth :p
