We are planning a 'chill out' day at Clearwater on this visit. We have never been to Clearwater before. Any 'must see' or things to avoid. Also looking for low/medium priced eating places. I have heard about Pier 60. Is this worth a visit ?
Thanks :thumbsup2

last time I went to Florida I went to Clearwater. It was quiet to say it was the week before xmas and the beach is lovely. We brought a picnic so I cant help you on eating out, but I hope you have a great time :)

Only ever really been to the Clearwater Beach location, planning a day there ourselves next year, to be honest worth a trip just for the quality of the beach.

The Sunshine Skyway bridge that spans St Pete's Bay is fantastic and well worth seeing.

dont forget its a dry beach,as the police officer informed me as i was getting beers out of the boot of the car,let me take the sodas thougth

Not our sort of place, we went for a week after 2 weeks in Orlando, totally dissapointed. Others love it but we were bored, wished we had stayed in Orlando.:goodvibes

Hi,
We are starting our trip with a couple of chill out days in Clearwater.
We have just had family return from there and they informed us that there is quite a bit of building etc work going on there at present.
They visit every year and were a little dissapointed with as they said the big boys turning up to play.
Saying that I dont think the beach is affected whic is good as it is lovely.
Anyway thought I'd just share, bye the way they rave about Frenchys!!! as a good place to eat.
Enjoy and see you on pier 60 :goodvibes

Funny you should mention this, Cornish Pixie, I've got their website saved, as we're hoping to eat there next month (well in just under three weeks actually...... not that I'm excited or anything....:rotfl2: )

We went to Clearwater on our first trip. Luckily for us it was the 10th anniversary of Pier 60 and they had a huge firewaork display once the sun had set, sand sculptures on the beach and a live concert as well. a As I understand it there are always street entertainers around the Pier - we got a fantastic charcoal drawing done of our daughter, one of the best we have ever seen - and another thing worth doing is the Little Toot. Its a tug boat that takes you out to sea and gets the dolphins jumping and playing behind you. They can't guarantee it but it almost always happens that the dolphins come out to play.
Both Pier60 and Little Toot have websites if you do a quick search.

There are alot of terrific restaurants on the US19 road. One of our favourites is Codys Roadhouse - great food, and great atmosphere - there is a website with the menu. But you will be spoilt for choice - Clearwater is great in terms of eateries!! Enjoy!!
