I was a gymnast too in my early years! I got as far as optionals and had a pretty devastating knee injury, which pretty much ended any hopes I had of going any further. I focused on "cheer gymnatics" after that.

I love the sport. I think it's a wonderful thing for young girls and boys to be involved in! I don't think things get overly intense until a gymnast makes it to elite level.

I DO think there is value in examining coaching styles. I had a coach who weighed us obsessively...before practice and after. We had extra workout if we went above the "line" of weight that he determined was appropriate for us. He was a nut. So Jen Sey's experiences didn't seem too far of a stretch based on the kind of coaching I had.

I do know that her book caused quite an uproar in the gymnastics world. I think that was her point. I don't think she lied, but I do think she purposefully outed some topics that she knew would be hot button issues. Did you see her on RealSports with Bryant Gumble? She's an interesting person. I met her once. She seems to be very angry and bitter about a lot of her young life. I personally think she had more issue with her parents than anything else.

I guess I was lucky to have normal coaches as a gymnast. Yeah, I saw that interview- she is defintely an interesting person, and a bit bitter I agree. It's a shame that not everyone is lucky to have great coaches- in all sports!

I can't wait to see some pics of the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I hav always wanted to stay there and we are going to JIKO finally this year!

Yaahhh!!! Excellent first chapter MissCammie! I have to tell ya, I LOVE the disclaimer! After that pootsnorkle (gotta love that word) last time its smart of ya to throw that in!! Hope your poor broken paw heals quickly and typing doesnt hurt too much. That picture of Teddy "not standing on the chair" was totally something that my DD7 woiuld do! What a hoot and a half!
