A Daily Lesson in Parenting and Manners: A TR by a real life Wicked Stepmom!

Ok so it took me a WEEK to go through your trip report with the LINKS! I love your writing you had me weeping one moment and laughing the next. My kids think I am NUTS, because I will sit here and wipe tears and then start laughing YuP ToTaLlY NuTs:rotfl: I to am a Wicked step-mother ... gee she(His mom) is thinking of moving the kids away from us too, just a half hour away but still it isn't 7 minutes away. The boys (step son and his half brother) get off the bus here at my house daily. They are good boys, they to don't like to try new things. Which irks the patooty out of me... I am a let's try new things type of girl and so are my three kids! My DS5 was mad:mad: because I wouldn't let him ride EE while in AK. I didn't think he was tall enough ooops!

Hey how do you put those links in I haven't figured that one out yet!

My Dh Just told me to start to plan the next trip for sept 09:cool1: He made my year!

Can't wait for the next installment

just checking to see how you are doing with the dreaded rash. Hope all is well, and cant wait to read the next part of your report!!! Give the kiddos a cold, snowy hug from Alaska!!!

it took me less than 24 hours to go through your trip report...it took me less than 5 minutes to get sucked in though!!

You are fabulous!! :flower3:

Thank you thank you everyone for your positive and encouraging comments!!

I'll be working on the next installment when I get home. I have "Nuts and Bolts meetings" at work this morning...which stinks...b/c I would, very much like my friend Brenda, like to get paid for reading the Dis and writing my Trip Report!

OH and I LOVE the idea of teaching parenting classes that would focus on a good "mommy voice" and the wicked "eyebrow arch"!!! The world would be a different place.

And just b/c it's funny...there is a little boy i work with who is freaked out by my ability to raise my eyebrow...if he's acting up in class and I happen to walk by, he'll cover his eyes and shout "SORRY! OKAY! I'll BE GOOD!!! JUST DON'T DO THE EYEBROW!!! :rotfl2:

wicked power is fabulous!:thumbsup2

okay....I went through the trip report and then I decided to wade through the 87 other pages because I love your family!!!

I have the mommy arch....I don't have to say anything...the eyebrow goes up and I have submission:laughing: even from the 14-18 year olds in the marching band..."yes ma'am" is heard often in my presence. :rotfl:

I have an eleven yo (almost 12) who often asks "Do you think this is appropriate for me?" She's been asking that since before she was Sally's age.

Bless you for being your kids rock:flower3:

Once you have the eyebrow arch down, there is nothing that can defeat it!!:thumbsup2

thank you so much for your incredibly kind comments. It does my heart good! I'm very lucky to have Jay and Sally and Teddy as my family. They are wonderful people and I love them to bits!!!

I'm glad they translate so well over the computer!

thanks so much for reading!!:goodvibes

Dear CampbellScot,
Just wanted to say how much I am loving your trip report! Love the way your write, how you describe everything - LOVE how your family interacts with each other - heartwarming!! I'm usually a follower of trip reports with more pictures as I'm a picture fiend but this one's got me by the heartstrings - I can't wait for your August vacation to get another one!!

Dear Miss Cammie - I have come out of lurkdom to say that this is my very favorite trip report, and I read a lot of good ones. The special relationship you have with Sally and Teddy is so wonderful. I love reading about your adventures!

I'd just love to give Sally a big hug. She seems so tough, but also so fragile in many ways. I am sure your and her Daddy's love will help her to be a strong and awesome woman.

And who couldn't love Teddy? He is so full of fun and mischief. :yay:

OK, now here I have to confess something. Am I the only one who - just for a second - thought that when Sally said her cup runneth over, it was code for having to use the bathroom? I was SO embarrased when I realized what it really meant. Then I realized that that is exactly how I feel when I go to Disney with my family - my cup runneth over with love and joy!!

I hope to keep reading your trip reports for a long, long time!!:goodvibes

seems to be going away finally!!!:cool1: It was the detergent. I was picked up some clothes from the laundry basket and my hands started itching like mad. I threw all that stuff OUT, so hopefully I'll be done with wretchedness!

:lmao: Nope, code for the bathroom is "I have to powder my nose"!!!

but it makes sense...although if your cup is already running over, it may be a bit late for the bathroom!!;)

I will let my husband know that there have been requests for trip reports for years to come!:cool1: It will help with DVC argument!:thumbsup2

No, I have never heard of Collin, but then I was 12 when we left Stevi in... umm... 1984, I think.
And I think Kalispell = Cow's Bell is a universal thing.... my best friend attended college at UTK in Knoxsville, TN and nearly everyone thought the same thing... she got really tired of MOOOOing at them. ;)

And ALL towns in Eastern Montana are teensy...LOL. And lots of them have silly names too... "Two Dot" is one of my favorites. :lmao: Especially since it hardly even rates *One* dot. :confused3

my favorite MT town is Hell. Yup...Hell. My husband is from Dutton...which is confused with Denton an hour away. All podunk towns if you ask me.

I saw a lot of parents who acted the way your almost in laws did...except mine (well they act that way now)...they were just happy that there son wasn't gay. :lmao:

The Manatees did not disappoint! They soared through the water, right up next to the glass. They used their front flippers to propel them forward, which Teddy thought was "AWESOME"! He plastered himself against the glass and exclaimed over seeing their WHISKERS!! He gave me a look of pure joy and told me how much he LOVED Apricot!!!

Then the child goes and busts out with "Sailors used to think that Manatees were mermaids...and Manatees are related to elephants and aardvarks...not cows...even though some people call them sea cows because of the way they graze..."

Ok, if you ever are in Tampa, Florida ... you HAVE to check out both Lowry Park Zoo and the TECO power plant in Apollo Beach (during the "winter" when they come up the river for the warmer water) Tampa is probably about an hour away from Disney ... and I totally thing seeing manatees in person would be completely worth it. Lowry Park does some amazing rehabilitation with the manatess ... and I love being able to watch those amazing creatures swim around. The power plant is the best since it's free! It's only open for a couple of months during the year, but it's seeing manatees in their natural environment. You can't beat that!

My daughter and I were at the beach the other day ... and about ten yards out saw dolphins. You would have thought the world had ended (she's three now!, I need to update my signature!) "Mom, did you see those real life DOLPHINS!!!! I bet they know where Ariel is today!" (She had spent the day looking for Ariel, and getting pretty annoyed that she couldn't at least come up and say "Hi" really quickly before dipping back down into the water.) Needless to say, seeing dolphins and manatees in their natural habitat (and living 45 mins away from the mouse) are pretty good reasons to stay in Florida.

I've been lurking on your report for awhile now but wanted to say - love it, love it, love it! Why do I imagine that your "step-mom raised eyebrow" looks suspicially l like my "you actors can't actually think I'll believe that story raised eyebrow."

:rotfl2:

Hope you sent everything washed in the nasty detergent back through another rinse cycle--or two. My uncle had the same issue, altlhough his started with his feet and ankles itching. I changed the detergent once without knowing about his allergy. *oops* Everything still clean went through the entire wash cycle without detergent!

Someone recently turned me on to your trip report and I have been reading for two days! I love your writing style. Really just an awesome report. I so feel like I know y'all. I am a Jersey girl who has be transplanted in the south. I say mozerella the same way that Teddy does, but I also say things like bless your heart. You and I seem to have switched places.
I am very much rooting for you, Jay, and those kids. Y'all deserve a happily ever after. Keep writing, I promise to keep on reading!

Wow!! How are you liking Atlanta? What drew you down South? Do you miss Jersey? Do you miss good Italian food? Atlanta is a lovely city. The trees KILL me they are straight out of Gone With the Wind!!! Very Fiddle dee dee!

I LOVE It that you have adopted "Bless your heart"!!! People here look at me like I'm some sort of religious nut job when that pops out of my mouth!:lmao: Do people laugh at the way you say Mozzerella? I had to learn to say it the Jersey way b/c Sally and Teddy always gave me very disapproving looks if I said it wrong. They can't respect a person who can't say Moozadell!

So glad you've joined up!!!! I hope you are getting your fill of that Good old Southern Hospitality!!!

thanks for reading!!!:goodvibes

We moved down here for my hubby's job. I soooo miss real Italian food. They have no clue here. We have found the the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta is my kitchen! When I ask for things at the grocery store, they look at me like I have two heads! You should have seen the look I got at the deli counter when I asked for hot capicola :confused3

I better subscribe before I lose your report!
I started reading very early this morning and got up to Day 2 after hours and hours of pure and utter enjoyment reading your trip report!!!
Sadly, I then did something REALLY stupid and broke my laptop!!! :sad1:
I am gutted and using my hubby's work computer for a while before he needs to use it for work again (on a Sunday, I know!!!).
I can't wait to keep reading. I count myself VERY lucky as I have masses and masses of your report to read in one big chunk.
I think you are an amazing step-Mum, definitely NOT wicked and you are honestly the type of parent I aspire to be when I finally get pregnant!!!
Sally and Teddy just sounds so so adorable, I am truly mesmorised (sp?!) and this is honestly the best trip report I have read on here so far!!!!
xxx

what i do when i get a mean nurse is i ask to speak directly to the doctor and he always over rules the nurse and tells me to come in and they get so mad :rotfl:

Well, I'm hooked. I'm only on chapter 6 so I have a lot of catching up to do. Fab writing. So far, IMO you shouldn't be the one wearing the "wicked" crown.

MissCammie,
I have been lurking on the boards absolutely loving your trip report! Your children (yes "yours") are so lucky to have you. Sally sounds like a very wonderful, soulful little girl - sometimes my heart breaks for her. And as for Teddy - well, I have a 9 year old great nephew just like him. They only get more mischievous as they get older! I thought it was hilarious when he licked Sally and she didn't even notice! Little boys!

I'm glad your reaction has cleared up and I can't wait for your next installment. Good luck to you and Jay with everything else.
