A Daily Lesson in Parenting and Manners: A TR by a real life Wicked Stepmom!

I've been lurking here off & on for some time but recently got caught up. I am really enjoying this TR. I was so pleased to find a new installment when I checked in! Miss Cammie rocks.

Teddy was quiet for a moment and then he said,

"MissCammie...do you believe in Leprechauns?"

"I do, Teddy."

"Is that because your blood is from Ireland?"

"I suppose it is."

"MissCammie...are there Italian Leprechauns?"

:rotfl2:

"I don't know Teddy...do you think there are?"

"Well what if Leprechauns came from Ireland and moved to Italianland and then they would be part Italian right MissCammie?"

"I guess that would be one way to look at it..."

"MissCammie, do you believe in the Loch Ness Monster?"

"Of course I do Teddy."

"I do too MissCammie. Her name is Nessie and people try to find her so they can study her and not respect nature but she has magic so they can't find her right MissCammie?"

"That must be the reason!"

"MissCammie how come Ireland and Scottishland have fun magic and Italianland doesn't?"

:lmao:

"I'll bet that ITALY has all sorts of myths and magic too..."

Teddy was quiet for another moment...

"MissCammie...do you think that Nessie likes mozzarella cheese?"

:rotfl2:

"I'm sure she does buddy..."

Smashin' day so far...loving it. You tell Teddy that the Italians traded their magic for beautiful weather....we Scot's and Irish may have pretty rubbish weather most of the time but we have THE BEST magical stories:wizard: . And as a Scot I can confirm that yes Nessie loves mozzarella 'cos her favey food is haggis pizza:love: .

I know how you feel about not wanting to break the spell when Sally's eating something different, Niamh is a very fussy eater (Becci's not so bad now but she has her moments), anytime she starts eating and appears to enjoy it we have to communicate with our eyes 'cos if you make any kind of fuss her inner Maria Carey comes out and "games a bogey":scared1:

Just SWEET moment with Teddy. Great stuff, Miss Cammie. (Please slip us a hint about how the kids are doing now)

I greatly enjoyed the new chapter. Ya got me again. we may have to start a Disney fund for the Campbell/Scotts just so we can get our trip report fix on a continual basis>:rotfl: Best wishes for all of yall:hug:

I think the trade off of Magic for Good Weather MUST be true!!! Teddy is VERY into myths and magic these days. Nessie is his personal favorite. It's non stop Nessie these days. I will tell him that I have it on official Scottish authority that Nessie DOES like Mozzarella cheese...even if it IS with Haggis...not my personal favey...but to each his own!;) Teddy's grandmother is actually VERY proud of her Haggis.

I love love loved seeing "games a bogey"!!! My uncle Fiacre says that ALL THE TIME! Between my Southern-isms and Irish-isms, the kids often have no clue what I'm saying. They just have to go on whether I'm using the eyebrow arch or not!:lmao:

THAT is the best idea I've ever heard!!!:cool1:

thanks for the good wishes everyone!!

As for an update on how the kids are doing now...Teddy had himself a milestone last night...his very first Stomach VIRUS!!!

Poor baby. I heard a terrible crashing upstairs around 12:30am...I thought it was Sally with a bloody nose...nope it was Teddy. I ran up the stairs and he was standing in the bathroom looking VERY bewildered. I realized what he was about to do and got his head over the toilet, but it was a little late at that point. I didn't yet know that the poor baby's stomach had gone into reverse all over EVERYTHING before he made it to the bathroom. His bed, his carpet, the hallway, the bathroom, HIM...oh lordy it was a mess.

I was proud of him for at least trying to make it to the bathroom.

He broke my heart...he was shivering and crying and apologizing. I was worried he was going to dehydrate and we'd have to go to the ER for an IV...which we have done several times. The child is so thin that it doesn't take much. I was giving him sugar free sprite in little sips...and that came right up as well.

*sigh*

So Jay and I cleaned up barf for over an hour. It was a mess and y'all know with my touchy gag reflex...it was all I could do not to join teddy in hugging the potty! FINALLY we got all cleaned up. After a shower,Teddy had been in a sleeper b/c he was freezing..then he got the sweats so we changed to shortie jammies...Mickey mouse happened to be featured on the front. So we talked about Disneyworld! I sat in the rocker and he climbed in my lap and we talked about our favorite place. He FINALLY went to sleep.

Daddy and MissCammie are exhausted.

he's still white as a sheet this morning, but he's doing better.

When I told Sally about Teddy being sick she gave her pat answer...

"Poor Him!" This is said in complete sincerity which makes it very cute.

The kids are okay. They aren't at their best. The custody garbage is ongoing. Mom is fighting with her boyfriend a lot lately and she lives with him in his house..and Sally is worrying that they will break up and then where will they live. Which is what all 8 year olds should worry about.

it's a mess. As I am nobody, there is nothing I can do. Which makes me frustrated...which makes me grouchy. Poor Jay. :sad2:

we're doing the best we can to be as happy as possible when it's possible. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for reading everyone and for all the wonderful comments and thoughts. They mean so much.

I'm trying to be more regular with posting. It's crazy busy at work, but of COURSE the Dis is a priority!!!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I loved it as usual another great installment! Keep them coming! I just love reading your writing. The kids are so adorable. I have been practicing my eyebrow slap.

Wow you must of posted the exact same time as I did so I didn't see your lastest post. So I'm editing my response to include it. Poor Teddy. I sure do hope he feels better. I just hate stomach viruses. We had a week long one right before Christmas. YUCK! I can definitely relate to the cleaning up process. Been there done that and I'm sure we'll be doing it again! I'm also sorry to hear about the ongoing custody battles. I hope that Sally and Teddy can soon move past all of this worrying and that things settle down and everyone can feel safe and happy. You are so right children should not have to go through this stuff and worry about where they are going to be living. Thank goodness they have you and Jay to give them stability as much as possible.

The only thing I love more than kids who ask questions is the grownups who take the time to answer them.

BTW, as an experienced sibling, mom and grand mom I highly recommend a dedicated trash can for upchucks. A large one as that makes hitting the target even easier. A liner if great if you get a forewarning.

And dang if they didn't talk her into eating a Sweet Pretzel! Food Sally has never before seen or tried...made its way into her mouth! Jay and I were dumbstruck. Sally and Teddy split it between them and Sally ate every bit of her half. Wow! I didn't dare say a word. I didn't want to break the magic bubble of eating without fear! She really enjoyed it too! The sweet "blond girls" also gave Sally and Teddy little bags of carrot sticks, which they happily munched on while we sat and rested. It was lovely. It felt magical and I wanted to hold on to that moment for as long as I could...that ordinary moment...a moment that may seem like nothing...but there was magic in the humid air as we sat outside and we ate our Disney food...and we weren't afraid or worried. We were just happy.

It was Disney magic.

Sniff, how sweet!!!!

Another great post. I am glad you found some magic on this trip. And gotta love the kids.
Sorry the battle is still going on on the homefront  Sending more pixie dust your way for a quick and good resolution pixiedust:

I'm so pleased to here Teddy is so into his Scottish side:cool1: . Here is a web site I think he would enjoy, www.activityvillage.co.uk/loch_ness_monster.htm it has lots of fun activities and web links. Another "fact":rolleyes1 he may find interesting is regarding The Wild Haggis - "A haggis is a small four-legged Scottish Highland creature, which has the limbs on one side shorter than the other side. This means that it is well adapted to run around the hills at a steady altitude, without either ascending or descending. However a haggis can easily be caught by running around the hill in the opposite direction."

I personally love haggis and, though I'm not as keen on it as Nessie, a haggis pizza is pretty scrummy:love:

It wasn't until I was going back into your TR that I thought you may not know what "Games a bogey!" means...your friends must have been seriously confused when they came over to your house when you were young and heard all the phrases used:scared1: !!!

Sorry to hear about Teddy, hope it stops there and is not one of those viruses that is passed from person to person

i am completely hooked on this trip report!

I am BEYOND thrilled to see another Cowboys fan living in New Jersey!!!:cheer2:

Being a Cowboys fan in Jersey is DANGEROUS!

When I was young and naive and first living in New Jersey I revealed freely that I was a Cowboys fan...people looked at me like I'd just insulted their mother!! Seriously...I got some UGLY looks!

So I had to adapt to the New Jersey way of life...I've learned to make a killer red sauce...I pronounce Mozzarella the right way...but I STILL love my Cowboys!!!

glad to know there are others out there like me!!

I really enjoyed reading your trip report. I just discovered it today, and was totally engrossed in your writing style, i just couldn't stop till i finished it all.:thumbsup2

I am planning a trip to WDW later this year (probably around August / September) , with the new lady in my life:love: . The last time I was there was in 1999 with my kids and their mom.

Please add your next chapter soon!!!!Can't wait. What's takin' you so long:laughing:

No way!
It is definitely dangerous being a cowboys fan in jersey--especially when i live about 30 min from philly!
You should see me on game days--i wear my jersey no matter where we are going--i get some dirty looks, but i find alot of cowboys fans!

This is the best trip report ever. I had an inner Donald week.

I am up in Northern Canada and Teddy had me thinking of the Nothern Mythology. I went to a lecture and someone asked about Neesy's friend Ol'slavey and I believe just from the fright of a native elders face to be true. I can't say I did before but when a elder turns white and refuses to talk about it...
Anyhow this may look like a sensationalized snipit but thought after your recap that Teddy and yourself may enjoy it

I too am a Cowboys fan. Sometimes eating at a table full of Redskin fans can be kinda difficult.
