A Daily Lesson in Parenting and Manners: A TR by a real life Wicked Stepmom!

Miss Cammi, I am really loving this trip report!! Keep them coming, I cant wait to read more!!!!!!!!!

They should have a standing ovation emoticon or a clapping one, at least, as that's what I wanted to give you. But this little guy will do the trick: :cheer2: Can't wait for the rest of the TR! popcorn::

Still loving you TR Miss Cammie, and *ahem* we have one of those same spinny sorcerer Mickey things at our house. But sometimes Mommy doesn't have any batteries for it *cough*. Glad the kids found the magic, despite everything else. :wizard:

I made sure those things made it into the car when they went to their mother's house. We were talking to them last night and I could hear one of them whirring away in the background. :woohoo: :lmao:

Another tear jerker, for goodness sake! Who would have thought the Wishes chapter would be a tear jerker. Sweet, sweet Teddy!

Although I was laughing out loud about "My money". Got a look from dear old DH. He thinks I'm weird to even be READING TRs and PTRs (and weirder for writing one), nevermind laughing at one. :lmao: Oh well.

We are a kissing on the mouth family (though not so much a naked family. My own five year old has problems with this, but we're working on it). I NEVER thought I would be. Growing up we weren't even much of a kissing family. I don't think I've EVER kissed either of my parents on the mouth (unless it was out of my scope of memory), but both my kids kinda started it themselves when they were really little, and when it came to my kids, I just never stopped it. Something different about your own kids...(and of course Sally and Teddy are YOUR kids). Recently my five year old and I have had to talk about the difference between "Mommy kisses" and "Girlfriend kisses". He's watched a little too much tv...(I need a raised eyebrow smilie here).

Anyway, enough highjacking...can't wait till part two!

Yeah, my sisters and I didn't kiss our parents on the mouth when we were little either. Granted we were a little on the manners obsessive stuffy side, but it's just not something I'd ever done. Working in the field I do, I'm VERY aware of body space and appropriate contact between children and adults. I try not to let work invade home life...but it's an automatic check system in my brain.

Teddy has no issues in this area.:lmao:

ahh another great clip of your trip. I love the money part. Isn't great when kids have their own money to buy the toys that parents find so great?? No really isnt it? I mean I swear I have hundreds of dollars of nonsence toys my kids think they need, just sitting in their closet. My favorite is this string thing they bought at MGM, but alas the batteries died, and well mom always forgets batteries at the store.

Yes there are TONS of toys that were SO necessary that aren't even looked at a week after they get home...and we don't EVER seem to have batteries either!:confused3

All I can say is what a great KID Teddy is becoming.

Love the report!

he's a good boy Teddy...a handful...but he's got a good heart! Thanks for continuing to read!!!

Enjoying your report. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading!!!! I'm glad you are enjoying it!!!:goodvibes

I don't post that often but I have read a lot of trip reports. I just had to post to yours. What a great trip report you are writing. I just love it. You had brought tears to my eyes! Little Sally is just adorable and I love it when she stands up for what is right! Teddy is just pure lovin' he is a sweetheart.

You are a fantastic mom to both of them and they really need you in their lives.

I can't wait to hear more!

Thank you so much for reading. I'm glad you are enjoying the report. More on the way!!!:cutie:

Miss Cammi, I am really loving this trip report!! Keep them coming, I cant wait to read more!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for the nice thoughts!!! I'm working on the next chapter!!!

They should have a standing ovation emoticon or a clapping one, at least, as that's what I wanted to give you. But this little guy will do the trick: :cheer2: Can't wait for the rest of the TR! popcorn::

Wow, that is SO nice. Thanks so much. Kind words are ALWAYS appreciated and much needed around these parts lately. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

:goodvibes

Miss Cammie---another WONDERFULLY-STUPENDOUS post !! I have had to permanently install a box of tissues near my mousepad, cause I have found that I burst into uncontrolable tears every time I read your TR.

You need to bottle whatever you feed those kids when they're at your house.......every parent (and in my case, wanna-be parent) wants kids like yours !!!!

Hope you had a good first week at school! I'm hoping that since it is the weekend you might have some time to add some more chapters! I'm loving your report!!!

Wishes Special Edition over, it was time to put our game faces on. We had a parade spot to find. Sally and Teddy hopped into the kid transporter and we were OFF!!! We were sort of fighting the crowd as it seemed most of the party goers were heading home. As Jay saw it, we paid extra for this party and DANG IT we were going to stay until the bitter end! Sally was all smiles and whirring her loud imagination reducing toy. Teddy had pretty much fallen asleep the second we started moving. That child can sleep anywhere, anytime. If he's tuckered, he's sleeping. PERIOD!

Jay decided we were going to watch the parade from Liberty Square. He likes to decide things like that...so I allow him to...so he feels in control...even if he really isn't...because that's called being a GOOD WIFE...*ahem*

So we headed to Liberty Square. We found a nice open spot and parked. WOOHOO!!! Jay went in search of water and Diet Coke. So Sally and I sat and people watched. We like to people watch. Sally likes to watch for people breaking rules. Seriously. She reads signs obsessively and if someone is doing something WRONG, boy do we hear about it! I think Sally is going to be a judge someday. Truth, Justice, and Super Sally's way!!

As it happened we were directly across the street from the area roped off for guests in wheelchairs. Sally sweetly commented that "Mickey is very thoughtful to make a place for wheelchair people. Because they can't stand up to see and that wouldn't be fair". Fair. She is still little girl enough to believe that things MUST be fair. Even though she sort of already knows that the whole fairness thing doesn't happen very often. (Dang I sound jaded don't I?! I need a diet coke...be right back...y'all can sing Zipadee Doo Dah while I'm gone k?)

See, back quick as a wink!!

Sally watched as several guests in wheelchairs were wheeled to the special area roped off for them. She smiled her darling smile at those in wheelchairs and commented from time to time how nice it was that their kids pushed them...in their chairs I mean. Which is actually what Sally said, to clairfy. Because actually pushing someone who is not attached to wheels is NOT nice. *ahem*

Sort of a random picture I accidentally took of Sally leaning against me and people watching...her hair had SO started to fall. Dang that humidity!!
100_1049.jpg

I was looking around me, breathing in Disney air and waiting for my husband to come back with my Diet Coke! Sally suddenly clutched my leg and gave me a little shake.

"MissCammie...those people over there...see those people over there? Well they do NOT have a wheelchair person in their family. I watched and they are just regular walking people and they are BREAKING. THE. RULES."

I looked over and saw a family settling their kids on the brick wall and filling in most of the available space in the roped off area. It was a rather large group with more adults than kids. Nearly 10 people in all.

"Maybe they are just waiting Sal...maybe their wheelchair person will be arriving in a second."

Sally very firmly shook her head.

"Nope. I was watching. And I can TELL they are RULE BREAKERS. That is so mean to be a rule breaker. What if a wheelchair person comes and can't see the parade?! That is not being a good citizen and that is called being unfair and being a RULE BREAKER. There is even a SIGN."

Oh I had to FIGHT not to laugh out loud. It just irked Sally no end when people violated clearly defined rules. It upset her internal sense of balance. She was working up quite a head of steam over it.

"I hope Mickey comes and PUNISHES them. They should be KICKED OUT of Disneyworld. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO MAKE THEM MOVE!!!!"

I was afraid her head was going to start spinning around.

Just as I was about to sit on her to keep her from marching over there, a CM came along and told the family they needed to relocate. Sally was at strained attention, watching like an Eagle with it's eye on a snack.

The family sort of rolled their eyes and looked like they were going to begrudgingly move...but as soon as the CM turned around, they sat back down. Now I wasn't as annoyed as Sally, but that is SUCH an obnoxious thing to do. Seriously.

Sally looked up at me in shock.

"Did you SEE those RULE BREAKERS?! DID YOU SEE WHAT THEY JUST DID?! MISSCAMMIE...DO SOMETHING."

:lmao:

"Sweetpea, I cannot make those people move. Yes they are breaking the rules. Yes, we find that very upsetting. But all we can do is be good role models for appropriate parade sitting behavior."

*ahem*

Sally continued to watch the RULE BREAKERS. She continued to mutter about punishments. I just kept up a steady "pat pat pat" on her arm. At that time Sally had been feeling angry about A LOT of things. Unnamed things...*coughhermothercough*...and she took that anger and channeled it towards people who broke rules. It was okay to be angry at rule breakers. That was appropriate. I think her righteous wrath keeps her occupied. It allows her to "FEEL" angry. Even if it's not really aimed at the right people. It's scary to be angry at people you love. So lets try and set fire with our eyes to rule breakers of the world!

:furious: :furious: :furious:

Not too much later another CM came along. He looked annoyed. He said in a very clear voice. "YOU CANNOT SIT HERE. AT ALL. YOU ALL NEED TO MOVE TO ANOTHER AREA. please." He then stood and watched them all leave. And my goodness they took their time. They were speaking rapidly to one another and casting looks over their shoulders at the CM. He kept a polite smile on his face but he didn't budge until they all moved.

Sally quite literally applauded. "so that's what you GET you rule breakers! You get in trouble in front of EVERYBODY and everybody HEARD."

Once the people cleared out, Sally visibly relaxed. Then daddy arrived with the Diet Coke and the water so we could change the subject.

"Daddy...there were RULE BREAKERS over there, but they had to MOVE and they didn't listen the first time, but then they got yelled at so they moved and they were probably embarrassed. But that's too bad and..."

Jay interrupted Sally by swooping her up into his arms. Which totally surprised her and stopped the tirade in it's tracks. Jay's no dummy either!

And even though Sally is a "big girl", Jay continued to hold her. They chit chatted about what we'd done so far. They talked about seeing Minnie. It was a sight to behold. I watched her relax. I could see it, muscle by muscle practically...After a minute she laid her head on her daddy's shoulder.

yes, tears were exiting my eyes. There is nothing so tender as watching a little girl with her daddy. And Sally is a daddy's girl to the CORE of her being. Sally used to wake her daddy up in the morning by standing up in her crib and shouting "SUN'S UP DADDY!" over and over until he arrived. She is so like him in every way. Right down to the obsessive compulsive detail oriented black and white view of the world.

*CAMPBELL...STAY ON TRACK...*

Where were we?!

Oh yes...justice has been restored and all was well with the world...

Then the parade began!

Sally and Teddy love parades. Love them. To them a parade signifies "special day"...like a day off from school...even if they are rinky dink little town parades where the newly opened Panera bread company store has hired a crew of girls to walk down the street with a banner throwing candy at small children. They LOVE that. Collecting candy ROCKS. Sally is a pro at it. Teddy just likes to run after things...even if he doesn't pick them up...unless it's money. They always collect a TON of candy...we have about 8 bags of "parade caught candy" on top of the fridge. They rarely eat it...just like to catch it.

Sure enough Sally says to me:

"Do they throw candy at this parade?"

poor naive child. This wasn't some rinky dink Memorial day parade, OH NO. THIS is a DISNEY Parade!!! The Big CHEESE of parades! (terrible pun I know...:duck: totally deserve that! )There is too much to ooohhh and ahhhhh over. A person is too star struck to catch candy at a Disney parade!!

"MissCammie...didn't you hear me? Do they throw candy?"

"No dear. This is Disney...they don't throw things at people".

Sally nodded her head and said:

"Plus the litterbugs. I'll bet those RULE BREAKERS are litterbugs too!"

:lmao: Sally does NOT forgive and/or forget.

The parade started rolling by and it was good right from the GET GO! I tried to wake Teddy a little bit to see if he would watch, but there was no budging the child. He was down for the count.

So with my husband manning the Video Camera, I set to picture taking!!!

HERE WE GO!!! *please remember that I tend to be a so-so photog at best...*

100_1051.jpg

I love these guys...they have such dignity...considering their reason for being there...did they have to try out for these parts I wonder?:confused3
100_1053.jpg

Sally turned to me and said:

"Those guys are for picking up horse poo...how EMBARRASSING!!!"

okay...here's the GOOD stuff!!

100_1055.jpg

"MissCAMMIE, LOOK...it's YOU!!!"

indeed...

100_1056.jpg

as I snapped that blurry bad pic, Jay turned to me and said "Hey Cam, it's YOU!!!" He was referring to GRUMPY. I smiled and itched my nose at him...if you know what i mean...if you don't then all I was doing was itching my nose...that's all...*ahem* My husband the comedian. ;)

Sal gave me a look and said

"Daddy MissCammie does NOT have a beard!" SO THERE!

Thanks Sal...always has my back that girl!

100_1058.jpg

"Ohhh LOOK!!! It's SLEEPING BEAUTY PINK!!!" Sleeping Beauty is referred to by her dress color...due to the color change scene in the movie...it makes sense!

100_1059.jpg

"MissCammie it's Flora and Fauna and Merrifeather...":lmao: She was close!

since I'm very close to the "limit" of smilie and picture posting, I'll end here, but I'm continuing RIGHT AWAY...so no worries!!!:goodvibes

From another inner Donald to you: this is one FAB report! You've had me laughing and crying the whole time! Sally is so funny! Big hugs over the whole messy divorce - custody thing. I was Sally's age when my rent's D'd and it was an awful one (as in parental abduction to the middleeast) but I turned out fine and happy! Sounds like she has a strong head on her shoulders and a wonderfully wicked stepmom!

I would have been peeved about the people illegally occupying the handicap seating as well. Some people are just plain rude.

That parade look awesome. I hope to see it some day!

love love love your trip report and your kids are the bomb! you are so incitful of their needs and feelings...they are blessed to have yu as you are them...i can't wait to hear more about your trip and also can't wait to see flora, fauna and merrifeather in person...tootoo sweet... i love how kids see the world ,:wizard: the real one and the magic one....

I just caught up with your last 2 installments.

Fabulous as always!!!!!!!!!

See!!! Told ya I'd continue right away!!!

100_1062.jpg

"MISSCAMMIE!!!! It's Cinderella and Prince Charming and the FAIRY GODMOTHER!! Look SHE'S PROTECTING THEM!!! And they LOVE EACH OTHER!!"

oh sally rally...yes they do love each other. The story of Cindy really gets to Sally. She just does NOT understand how a girl could be so nice and still be treated so badly. It really BOTHERS her. It's her favorite movie, but so much of it offends her deeply. It is a thrill and a relief for Sally to see Cindy and her Prince, dancing together, in nice clothes, PROTECTED by the Fairy Godmother...It worries me some that Sally sees "being in love" as the ultimate deliverance from a painful existence. It's setting her up for all kinds of pitfalls. *sigh*

okay PARADE...

100_1063.jpg

"Look SALLY!! It's YOU...and DADDY!!!" :lmao:

Jay itched HIS nose at me...I was SHOCKED...REALLY, we are at Disney...how UNCOUTH! ;)

*ahem*

Sally waved like MAD at Belle and the Beast. I was THRILLED that we had picked the side of the road that the Princesses were on! As a result being on the correct side of the street, Belle saw Sally and she waved right back!

100_1064.jpg

"MissCammie, Belle waved RIGHT AT ME!! SHE SAW ME!!! DID YOU SEE THAT?! DID YOU SEE HER SEE ME?!"

"Sure did Sal...how could she miss you? You are too beautiful for words!"

Every moment of this parade held magic for Sally. She forgot that she wasn't supposed to believe. Her heart believed and it ruled out her brain and it washed away the doubt. This was MAGIC at it's finest!

It's Jasmine and Aladdin!!
100_1067.jpg

Suddenly the sweeping Princess Music changed. It became adventure music! Swashbuckling high seas music!! A boat came into view and who did we see?!

"MISSCAMMIE LOOK!!! It's ELIZABETH!!!
100_1075.jpg

We love Elizabeth. She's tough. She's Girl Power in pretty dresses and good hair! She ROCKS!!!

I wished wished that Teddy was awake for this. I wanted to accidentally on purpose shake him awake. I didn't want him to MISS Captain Jack Sparrow. I didn't need to worry though, as Sally could NOT control herself. Her little brother annoys her but she is NOT going to allow him to MISS his hero!!!

She reached into the kid transporter and shook her little brother...a little more gently than I might have expected!

"Teddy, CAPTAIN JACK IS COMING!! You can't miss him Teddy!! He's almost HERE!!! TEDDY!!! *shakeshakeshake* WAKE UP!"

very sleepy eyes fluttered open. "is it really Captain Jack?"

"YES! Now QUIT SLEEPING THROUGH THE PARADE!"

I handed Teddy some toothpicks and he propped his eyes open...

not really...but I was fairly certain that was the only way he was going to watch this parade. I did make him drink some water and I wiped his little face down with my handy dandy ponds face wipe thingies. They work. For make up and for sweaty little boys!

He revived some and waited for Captain Jack!

I just have to say, while we wait for Captain Jack, that this WAS a wonderfully done parade. It was bright and beautiful and just so DISNEY! I felt like this was worth the price of the party. Poor Jay was holding the video camera the whole time and dang that makes your arm tired. Especially when you are sweaty and dehydrated! He's a tough guy though, so he soldiered on!

Oh my goodness, here comes CAPTAIN JACK!!!
100_1080.jpg

good pic huh?! That man was difficult to get a picture of as he was all over the float. He was probably looking for me...*ahem*

and oh my goodness isn't he perty?! I must say, I am NOT a big Johnny Depp fan. At all. I don't enjoy his politics. *ahem* But that Captain Jack...he is a handsome hunk of Pirate! It seems my gigantic grin was saying all that, b/c Jay threatened to turn off the video camera!:lmao:

Sally knows that I tease her daddy with my "crush" on Captain Jack. And when Jay threatened to turn off the video camera she said:

"Daddy...Pirate's do NOT take baths...or brush their hair or their teeth and they don't have nice manners either. They are just handsome. And that's all."

:rotfl2:

indeed!

Basically Sally was saying "Our very PRISSY MissCammie would NEVER actually be in love with a Pirate. They have poor hygiene. COME ON!"

Bright girl Sally.

Jay had to agree with the logic, so the video camera stayed on!:cool1:

I looked into the kid transporter to see if Teddy had seen his hero! He was still very sleepily watching.

"Hey TeddyBear, did you see Captain Jack?"

*nods his head*

"Cool huh? To see the REAL Captain Jack?"

*nods again*

I don't know if he really saw anything at that moment. Sleep was still gripping him too tightly. He was trying though. And hey, we have VIDEO!!!

Captain Hook and Peter Pan came next...I did NOT get a good picture...I was distracted...by something...

*cough*

100_1082.jpg

The next float was one of my FAVORITES!!! It was too darling for words!!

It's TINK!!!
100_1083.jpg

In all her sassy, giggling glory!!!

I believe this is the only parade Tink has EVER been in. I thought it was very cute. And rather suddenly a little screech came from inside the kid transporter:

"PINKERBELLE!!!!"

Man does Teddy love him some Pinkerbelle. He couldn't be bothered to respond much to Captain Jack, but Pinkerbelle got his system revved up!

100_1084.jpg

I don't blame him, she IS pretty cute!!!

100_1085.jpg

But just as soon as she had gone by, Teddy was back to sleep almost immediately...he'd used up all his reserves. Poor kiddo...he was one tuckered cowboy!

The music changed again. My personal favorites were starting to float by!!!

MICKEY!!!!!!
100_1089.jpg

100_1090.jpg

PRINCESS DAISY!!!! Unfortunately my alter ego was on the other side...but Princess Daisy was DARLING!!! She's the alter ego I aspire to be...sweet and loving of even the most fractious personality...self love if you will!
100_1091.jpg

Next up was PLUTO!! It's a bad pic, but it's the best I could do...after Minnie and Cindy, Pluto is Sally's favorite character. She is a dog lover our Sally. So I tried to get a picture...but my camera's battery was tired and it was making the camera move really SLOWLY. Had I been my father, I'd have thrown it. We lost LOTS of electronics that way...like the time I was bringing the cheerleading sqaud to my house for a fundraising meeting...and as we pulled into the driveway a VCR came flying out of a second floor window...and smashed all over the ground in front of Alexis St. Jame's new BMW. Daddy has a bad temper.

*cough*

anyhow, here's sort of Pluto
100_1093.jpg

The parade wrapped up after that. Sally loved every second of it. She was beaming her Disney smile. I don't know if regular town parades were EVER going to cut it for Sal again.

Teddy was OUT. Here's a TEENY pic of him, b/c it's so cute.
100_1094.jpg

look at those long legs. Gonna be tall like his daddy!

We started to head for the exit. We were all dragging. We had gotten up at the CRACK of dawn. I had been assaulted on a plane...we had had an emotional catharsis with Minnie Mouse, we had stalked and found Lady Tremaine, we had had a serious blister injury, purchased way over priced children's crocs AND annoying toys, seen really cool fireworks and a REALLY COOL-as-all-get-out Parade. It had been a LONG day. We were tuckered and ready to SLEEP.

On the way out however, we ran across the Pirate Tutorial! I had read about this on several occasions. It was just starting and we had a front row seat if we stopped. I looked Jay and batted my eyelashes. Cuz it works...

"It's the Pirate Tutorial hun...with Captain Jack...for the kids..."

I think Jay was too tired to argue. Poor guy. He was such a trooper. He hung in with every request. He's a keeper!

Sally was still pretty perky. She stayed in the kid transporter, gave Teddy a shake and they settled down to watch.

It was pretty funny. All the kids standing around were so excited to see Captain Jack. It was pert near midnight and the HORDES of young children were still bright eyed and bushy tailed...or they were so tired they were wired beyond belief with adrenaline and were all near to passing out. Either way, everyone enjoyed the Pirate Tutorial!! Teddy watched with big eyes, silently soaking it all in. When his hero came out, a small smile made it's way to his face. I gave him a wink and he said to me:

"See MissCammie, he's not a person in a costume. I KNEW IT that Captain Jack was a real life pirate. I knew he was." PERIOD!

Here are some dark, not very good pics...but I tried!!!
100_1098.jpg

100_1104.jpg

I thought THIS was a funny picture...like constipated Capt. Jack!:lmao:
100_1106.jpg

After the "arrrgghhhhh" practice and all the other fun stuff Capt. Jack taught everyone, it was REALLY time to go.

I climbed into the transporter and made Jay push all of us...I was THAT tired...

not really. But I felt like it.

It was finally the end of our VERY first day at Disneyworld. What a day it had been. It was to set the tone for the whole trip.

Magic IS Real.

The Characters are REAL.

RULE BREAKERS will be punished.

We were fixin to have some major Disney FUN!!!

As we exited the Magic Kingdom, Sally turned to look at the Castle once more.

"MissCammie. I'll bet Cinderella is getting ready for bed. I bet she feels really tired. And her mother isn't there...or her step sisters. And I bet Cinderella and Prince Charming are going to maybe watch a DVD or play with their dogs before they go to sleep. Or help the mice get into their jammies. Cinderella is a really nice girl, right MissCammie? And she's married now. That's why she feels happy and everybody loves her and that's why she got to be a princess."

oh lordy the implications.

"Yep Sal. I'll bet you are right."

With those closing words, we hopped on to the waiting boat back to Wilderness Lodge. Teddy was passed out in my arms. Sally was nearly passed out in her daddy's arms. It was the end of our first day and we had our whole vacation ahead of us! WOO HOO!!!

up next: Magic Kingdom by the light of day!!!

A beautiful first day, Miss Cammie. If this is what your entire TR is going to be like, I'm going to run myself to Target and stock up on tissues. What a wonderful family. What a wonderful tale.

:goodvibes

Aww, MissCammie, you have such a way with words. I am so happy you had a great and magical time.

and *ahem* I used to do Donald Duck's tax returns. That is a gratuitous bit of information, not relevant to anything, LOL

Wow...This report is amazing as you are an amazing writer:goodvibes

I am already subscribed to about 5 other trip reports and didn't think I could keep up with anymore, but when I started to read this, I instantly changed my mind.

I was up til 3 am reading all 21 pages.

I teared up, I cried, I laughes out loud.....It was a like a good book that you can't put down,

My heart aches for Sally...She is such a sweet little girl and when she said some of the things she said, things her mom told her, it broke my heart.

Teddy...what a sweet and funny little boy.....and adventurous...I couldn't believe he jumped off that balcony....thank god he was okay:goodvibes

You are an amazing stepmom to those kids and I can tell you love them to pieces..

I hope all goes well for you and your family and will be reading:goodvibes :goodvibes

What a wonderful and magical first day. It is great that Sally is allowing herself to believe in the magic.:goodvibes

Wow! this is only the first day?? guess it feels like I've been following the story for a long time now - I'm so loving it!! Thanks and looking forward to more!

I could not believe it at first, when I read it, that this was all the very first day. Wow. You guys know how to have yourselves some Disney :wizard: MAGIC! I hope our first day is this great. Or any day for that matter.

I still can't believe the airplane ride was the same day. It seems so long ago. Hope your nose is better. :)

Can't wait for Day 2!
