A Critique of Magic Morning (MM) formerly known as Early Entry at DL.

Hi,
I have been faithfully reading all of the super stickies and I still have this question:

I will only have a 2 day park hopper (Sunday and Monday trip) and no MM/EE access. I am crazy enough to want to do Peter Pan AND NEMO, if possible. I'm also using RideMax but they don't do Sunday at all so my calculations are off.

Which day should I attempt which ride?? I was thinking Peter Pan on Sunday and Nemo on Monday. Do you think Peter Pan will be too ugly by Rope Drop on Sunday considering it's an EE day? I think Nemo is a definite no-no on that morning.... any suggestions?

TIA!
MElissa

I would suggest riding Nemo sometime in the evening/afternoon on either day and Peter Pan along with the other FL rides Monday morning. You don't want to try Peter Pan on a MM day if you don't have MM. I suggest heading over to the left side of the park to do Indy, BTMRR, and Splash for Sunday morning because they aren't open for MM.

We had 4 FPs in our pocket (that we used that evening) when we left DL at 10:20am & hopped to DCA for a 2.5 hour visit. (prior to our afternoon rest).

:)

4 FP by 10:20? Did the park open at 8 or 9 for you? Do you remember which ones you had? I've read almost all the FP threads on here (I think), and I can fathom having 2 or 3... Do you remember which 4 you had?

This was probably over a year ago.....but our normal one day strategy would be:

- Assuming 7am MM and 8am Gen. Adm.
- SM FP at 8:01am
- Indy at 8:40am
- BTMRR (or Splash if it's warm) at 9:30am
- Buzz at 10:20am. (note - Buzz FP will go away in June 2011)

Then hop to DCA or have a nice breakfast at Carnation. :)

The key is starting early & being mindful of the return times. :thumbsup2

It could only be done if starting by 8AM unless you count the disconnected Roger Rabbit FPs...in which case you could get 5+ by 10:30AM. Or for that matter you could hop into to DCA and get still one more FP at 9:30AM...Soarin.

For an example see "Which Fast Pass First?" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1107718 (see my post #4 in that thread)

On my last trip I got:
-Space FP at 8AM
-BTMRR FP at 8:40AM
-Roger Rabbit FP at 9:20AM
-Another Space FP at 9:30AM
-Soarin FP at 9:40AM
-WoC FP at 9:50AM

5 ride FP and WoC FP before 10AM. It definitely took some good planning, but this was the best that I've ever done that early.

From a FP master!

That is amazing, although it seems like you were running and not riding during that time. At WDW we often have someone who won't go on one ride or another run to get another FP. I always go get the SM or BLAB FP while DH goes into the Tiki Room, although now that it seems like Zazu and Iago and hopefully the insane tiki goddess won't be destroying the atmosphere down there, that won't be the case anymore. Guess Granny has to come along now. :rotfl:

I do still have some to learn from the masters here, though. I think I've held 3 at a time down there at WDW, but that's usually by about 12. We never seem to get there at opening, except on New Years Eve Day when we knew the park would close to regular admission by about 10 or 11.

Thank you both for your help!

In the past I would always have my kids ride Star Tours while I hopped into DCA to get Soarin FPs.

With all the rides at DL and DCA so close together physically you can actually collect FPs with little diversion (5 minutes max - sometimes only 1 minute). DLR29 could have fit 10+ rides into those first 2 hours in addition to collecting FPs.

On a non-Magic Morning day you can get Space Mtn FP at 8AM, do 6-7 Fantasyland rides - get your BTMRR FP - ride BTMRR in 5 minutes, and move on.

That's exactly what we did. Actually, it was a MM day and even though we didn't have MM, I still ran to the Space FP machines at 8AM. Then we did 7 rides at DL in addition to getting those FPs, and then we hopped and got the 2 DCA FPs.

FYI Buzz Fast Pass Machines are already gone and a thing of the past. Actually they are gone for use, but are being converted to the new Star Tours Fast Pass location.

Line was very fast actually- like what it was when we had fast passes, since there is no holding the queue up for FP entrance.

Correct TeddiBarra. :)

This thread started a few years ago (& evolved into more of a supplement to DLR's MM superthread). It has some aged info in some of the posts, but i try to keep the first post updated with current info. :hippie:

We've had a couple of reports of being able to ride Buzz multiple times late during MM or the first two hours of any day.....which is a good thing

....That is amazing, although it seems like you were running and not riding during that time....

As HG & DLR29 mention, normally slow loading Fantasyland rides can be enjoyed one after the other during the early morning. Also, rides you might want to hit multiple times (like BTMRR, HM & Buzz) can be ridden during this time with little wait......AND one can also pick up FPs during this time for evening use. Rarely does one ONLY run around & pick up FPs.....most DISers ride rides in uncrowded bliss the first 2.5 hours while methodically picking up FPs for use later.

It's amazing how productive one can be the first two hours with a little bit of DIS knowledge. :thumbsup2
