A Critique of Magic Morning (MM) formerly known as Early Entry at DL.

OK, so is anyone gonna tell me about the above referenced shortcut? The secret passageway to Space Mountain from Fantasyland.

And what line should we get in for Matterhorn? Please describe exactly where the entrance to this queue is located.

I LOVE these tips!

double post....got to stop dreaming of dolewhipfloats....sorry.

Sorry I realized after I posted, I didn't say what shortcut! I edited my post to define what info I was looking for!

:ssst: TwingleMum....be careful......we don't want everyone to know the location of the "secret passageway". :cool2:

(When you hop off the carousel and start walking back thru the castle towards Main St., the passage is to the left....you walk by those pretty statues of Snowy & her buddies - the dwarfs. Continue walking and you walk right into the back of the Buzz ride.) :)
Becca,

See above. It's not really a secret...I was just having fun. (If you stand in front of Carousel - looking toward the castle - there's a walkway that leads to the left.) Above the "Secret Archway to the secret pathway"... a sign says... "To Tomorrowland"
;) ....so not really a secret. :)

Regarding the Matterhorn lines during EE (& i suspect all day). If one walks from FL (from Dumbo) the "first que" is just past the TEACUPS. To get to the shorter que....just walk a few yards further (away from the teacups & towards the new Nemo ride).

Have fun. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! I can't wait untill my trip. I've been to WDW many times, and I know all of the tricks and shortcuts. I've been trying to study the maps at DL to get my bearings, so I can zip around like I do at WDW.

I remember once when I was at DL with my parents as a kid, we were on the canal boats and it was time for the fireworks... We had the best view from our little boat... Ahhh memories....

This happened to us on our last trip. It was a nice view and something DD still talks about.

That is great advice! I have been wanting to ride these, but don't want to wait in the super long line. I don't know why I didn't think of it, that's how we rode Nemo the first time :goodvibes I got some great shots of the FW with the Matterhorn while waiting in line ;)

We did the EE during our Spring Break (and everyone in California's Break as well).. We got to ride Space Mountain twice without a wait, Star Tours, Buzz. Everyone ran to the Nemo ride. My family just waved "Bye"- We'll ride Space Mountain anytime over the Nemo ride.. Love that Space Mountain.:cool1:

Can anyone tell me which rides exactly are open during EE and I know I asked before but am a bit confused-- no fp are distributed during EE, they only start distribution once the park is "officially" open, correct?

No one can tell you this exactly because the list is subject to change. We can tell you what are rides are usually open for Magic Morning (aka EE).

Coming back from a 4 day NY trip for my high school band, I thought that Hound had created a MM thread to compete w/ mine. Then I looked at the date and realized an old thread had been revived. :lmao: No worries hound. I'm so tired right now and I'm still on NY time (It's feels like midnight to me :surfweb: ).

Even though this thread is a year old, the advice and review are still a very good read for anyone with EE/MM questions. :thumbsup2

Whoa, wait, wait... Hound, you said you walked on to It's a Small, Small (headache inducing :rotfl: ) World? I thought that was closed till November or even 2009? :confused3

Glad to hear you had a great experience! Looking forward to your trip report!

Look at the date of his post. More than a year ago. It's ok, I didn't realize it either for a while. :rotfl2:

Just got back and had a great time @ DLR. I'll try to do a trip report, but wanted to offer opinions on specific items that I had asked about. First Topic:

Hound's "rules" in regards to DL Early Entry -

- If available and you don't use it.....you're crazy.
- If you don't follow HydroGuy's advice (& the other knowledgable Dis'ers here).....you're crazy.

My experience w/ EE:

Got the family up between 6 - 6:15am, shower, shave etc, & I was out the door (of the Fairfield Motel on Harbor Blvd) & standing in line at McDonalds at 6:55am (ordered for all 4 of us...they stumbled in between 7am - 7:05am). We quickly ate then left (at about 7:25 am) & power walked (with coffee in hand) to line at DL arriving at 7:35am (11th in our line).

At 8am sharp (we all counted down) they let us in & the family walked "purposefully" down Main St. toward the "smallish" castle (it had been 40 years since i'd seen it). We carefully avoided knocking down small children & grandmothers with walkers. :rolleyes1

Per the excellent advice from those listed above we rode (in order):

-Peter Pan - no wait. One of the first on.

-Dumbo - waited 52 1/2 seconds. Rode on the second cycle.

-Alice - (I don't remember it from 40 years ago....i liked it....would even like it better if Jefferson Airplane was soundtracking). Waited maybe 2 min.

-Matterhorn - I goofed. I didn't know there was ANOTHER LINE. My wait was about 8-10 minutes (if i had gone to the line on the FAR side of the mountain it would have been about 3-4 minutes...didn't realize it till we were almost on.) 7 y/o kiddo was a little scared but like it. :scared1:
-Mr. Toad - 1 min. wait. The Toad "Rocked"... just like I remembered it! Kiddo & I loved it. :jumping2:
-Snow White - 2 min. wait. (That witch is really mean...isn't she?)

-Pinochio - 1 min. wait. (very cute ride...i don't remember it...was it always there?)

-Carousel - 2 min. wait. PLUTO RODE (& took pics) WITH US. pluto:

At this point it was 9:05 am, so we walked purposefully toward Tomorrowland (taking the very secret passageway that took us right by Snow White's statues) - took 2 pictures - then continued on to SM and picked up SM FP (for return at 10:15am). My family (7 y/o kiddo, wife & wife's sister) was breathing heavily & their heads were spinning so we strolled over to Main St.... got a cup of coffee & a danish... & relaxed for 5 min. before walking to...

-Storyland Canal Boats - (Long line that didn't move the 5 min. we were there...i'm guessing all the EE folks in Fantasyland headed here & it was slow to open.....anyway's...we bailed & walked on to (with absolutely no wait!)......

- It's a small, small (headache inducing) world. Which was actually very nice. & I HAD remembered how nice the landscaping was....nice to see it still looks great (way better than that park in Orlando).

Trip report to come, but I wanted to inform all who might contemplate EE for DL...to DO IT. And as always follow HydroGuy's & the other Diser's most excellent advice. :thumbsup2

hound :cool2:

:)

Good for you, you got a lot out of the early entry!:goodvibes

I'm hoping to do the same thing on my next visit but I won't have EE, just my DL knowledge.

DH thinks I'm nuts!!
I am making tons of notes and he thinks that I am planning every second of our trilp - lol
I will be giving gentle nudges as we go along though - quietly checking my notes!!:cool1:
Thanks!

wifes the same way. when we did wdw we had only 4 days. i had a plan and amazingly we saw and rode on nearly everything in all 4 parks in that time. its not a bad thing.

Alec & I nabbed one of the Canoes over at Critter Country & did IASW so we could check out how nicely the Stitch & Lindsey Lohan character dolls are being integrated into that sweet (headache inducing) historic boat ride. :rolleyes1
:lmao:

Not competing with DLR 29's excellent & complete MM Super Thread. This was actually a "thank you" thread from last year to the many people who helped me in planning my first trip to DLR (in 40 years). (Had been to the parks in the swamps many times in the past two decades.)

Not being a "relax & smell the roses" type, I asked for specific advice on MM (called EE then) & HydroGuy, GotToTravel, & others gave me great info. I had enjoyed HydroGuy's "How to use FP on a busy Summer Day thread" (the one with the blow by blow info), so i figured I'd share our blow by blow of our first 2-3 woundrous hours at Walt's park. (from wake up until EE (MM) was over).

Probably the only thing i would have done differently (knowing what i know now)....is that at 8:55am, i would have started over to SM so i could have picked up a FP at SM at 9am sharp (thus giving me a return time at 9:40-9:45).

We did EE the last day of our trip. Got up very early (for us) and drove to the park from the hotel. And sat, and sat, and sat, and sat. They didn't open the parking lots until 7:45, we wasted so much time waiting to get in to DL :-( Took about 10 minutes to get into the park after it opened and we had a blast. Two times in a row at Space Mountain, but just after chugging a Dr. Pepper in line with no breakfast. I had to tell the kid we should do Buzz for a while instead of rollercoasters.
