I've been reading for several hours now and I can't find info on a couple of things.

First, when you buy a new membership, is it almost a year before your first DVC vacation begins (11 mo window)? Or can you use points immediately and find some availability sooner?

Second, How much are dues roughly?

And third (for now), The $80-something you pay per point gives you that many points for how many years?

Thank you all for your help.

1. As soon as you close, with a few exceptions, you can use your points at any resort where ther are openings. You can make ressies as soon as you pay your deposit. Some people do the Magical Beginnings where DVD buys your first year's points.

2. It seems like dues go from ~$3.50 to ~$4.50 per point per year, depending on the resort. Just a guesstimate. Someone else will have more psecific.

3. If SSR, until 2054. For all other resorts, until 2042.

Intheory, you can use your points immediately. what the 11 month window refers to is a priority booking window. So, from 11 - 7 months of your checkout date, you can only book at your home resort. After the 7 month window opens up, you may book at any of the resorts so long as there is availability.

right nows, dues, per point, are in the $4.00 range.

For your third question, you will receive points everyear until 2042 when the original contracts expire. If you purchase at SSR, then you will get those points till 2054.

The point of the priority booking at the 11 month window is that between 11 and 7 months out, you're only competing with other owners at your home resort for rooms. That means that you can usually get the class of room you want, when you want it. At 7 months or less before your travel date, booking opens up to all DVC members and the most desirable rooms and dates can disappear. So that 11 month window is a privilege that gives you a significant home turf advantage.
