A Commando on Valium - A 7 Day Solo Trip at AKL ***Update 3/23 page 19

Welcome! You must be the one I stole the idea from in the first place, thanks!!! I have been reading along with your Trip Report...I just haven't posted yet...shame on me!

Oh, I stole it from someone else on the DIS so I can't take credit for it! Although I wish I could! :rotfl:

Okay everyone, I need some opinions!!!

Right now, my first day consists of the following:

Fly into MCO
ME to AKL
Check-in
AK until 5pm
DHS until 8pm
MK until 11pm

A few things about this plan have been bothering me, but I don't know if trying to solve them would actually make things worse.

I'd really like to get on Toy Story Mania the first day. I have been hearing day in and day out and from the guys at Tourinplans.com who I trust with my Disney Touring life that TSM Fastpasses are gone by noon if not earlier and that the Single Rider line which I would have relied on can be a royal mess, and is sometimes even closed :gasp:

I'd also really like to see Spaceship Earth on my first day. This is my favorite attraction at Epcot and I am anxious to view all of the changes.

Last trip I did AK, Epcot and MK. I was pretty beat by the time I finished up my day, and I remember it being a fairly early night. I love visiting multiple parks on the first day because I am so excited I can't stand it.

So...I've come up with this plan to get all of my old and new favorites in for the day:

Fly into MCO
ME to AKL
Check-in
Head to DHS to pick up a Fastpass of TSM and ride if the Single Rider Line is open and short.
AK to do Everest, Safari, Dinosaur, Nemo and eat lunch at Flame Tree
Back to DHS to ride RNRC, TOT and TSM
Take the boat to Epcot and ride Spaceship Earth
Take the monorail to MK and finish up the night with Space Mountain, TTA, Buzz, Haunted Mansion, Pirates and Splash Mountain

So...am I TOTALLY overdoing it on the first day? Am I just wasting energy by going to Epcot? Is it even worth it to get to DHS to get the Fastpass? Help!!!!

Well first, I really like your concept of doing all your favorites on arrival day. And I can totally relate to being so excited you can't stand it. :thumbsup2

That said, your plan is pretty ambitious. But you will be running on Disney adrenaline. So I think it's do-able... so long as that's what you want to do and you're having fun doing it and not just doing it because it's in the plan and you feel like you have to (wait a minute... hmmm...perhaps that is advice I need to take! ;) )

I say make it the plan -- especially if you've accomplished similar plans in trips past-- and then just pay attention to how you're feeling and try to be open to "going with the flow." I SO need to take my own advice! :lmao:

I think I might actually plan more for a solo trip than a non-solo trip! For me, I can relax knowing that I have a pretty strict schedule. There really isn't anything more stressful to me than going somewhere without a plan. It makes my family crazy, but it's a must for me.

I think I'll write this in as my "Day 1". The only thing that makes me less than happy is that DHS will be my first park, not AK. Oh well...I have more AK time planned than anything else this trip, so it'll be okay!

I got confirmation that I am in on the Photopass share today! It's only going to be $18.25 per person - woohoo!!! I'll probably be sending a money order in the next couple of days and then I'll be good to go. It's going to be weird having pictures of myself on a solo trip haha!

I would love to borrow that idea.

:thumbsup2
Hi Everyone!

I spent some time tonight putting together a visual itinerary. It was a fun way to spend the evening - enjoy!

As if planning for a WDW Vacation did not involve enough time, today I added to it 10 fold - I bought a house!!!!!!!!!!

The sellers accepted my offer and we set a closing date of Sept. 26, just 6 days after I get back from Disney, ack!!! :scared1:

That's going to be a very stressful week for sure. But the good news is that since I'll be needing to pick out some paint colors, I'll have to head to Home Depot and maybe I'll need to get some LGMH :rotfl:

Here's a picture of my cute little new house:

Congratulations to you! It is a great looking house! All the best with it!

Allyson :)

Congratulations!! :thumbsup2 That's fantastic! Home ownership entails many a trip to Home Depot so I'm sure you'll be able to stock up!!

What a great week I had!!!!!!!!

After my offer was accepted for my new house on Saturday, I quickly scheduled a meeting with the Mortgage Guy and the Home Inspector for Wednesday.

The Mortgage meeting went great and instead of paying an arm and a leg like I expected, I'll only need to pay an arm and half a leg :rotfl:

My home inspector was INCREDIBLE!!! He gave me so much detail and tips on what to do once I moved in. He ran all of his tests and that kind of junk and presented me the very next morning with a 12 page report!!! There were a couple "major" things that needed to be addressed, but after talking with my realtor this morning, the sellers have agreed to 2 out of the 3 without any argument. The 3rd is not such a big deal, but the sellers will get some prices when they return from vacation on Wednesday and see about fixing it. I was so relieved!

Then when I got home today, guess what was in my mail box?? MY ME TAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe they are here already. I remember worrying so much about whether they would come in time for my last trip and this time I didn't even have time to think about it.

There may be one slight problem, but I don't know. When I open up the ME booklet with the vouchers, it doesn't list any of my flight information -even though I have given it to them a few times. I'll probably post something over on the scary transportation board to find out if it's okay or not.

So now things turn into a waiting game for both my house and my trip. There isn't much left to do for either one on my part, only packing. How in the world am I going to pack and plan for a Disney trip while simultaneously packing and planning for a move??

That does sound like a great week! :thumbsup2 With all the excitment you have going on, your "waiting" should fly right by. It will be a challenge to balance Disney packing with moving packing but I'm sure you're up for the challenge! ;)

It does seem to be going faster and faster, I'm at 35 days already!

congrats!

Looks like you'll have everything packed!:rotfl:
for your trip & moving!

I'm sure it'll be mayhem with suitcases and boxes everywhere!

So I made it over to Home Depot today and I stocked up on Mickey Heads!

They had so many and nobody was watching, so I made sure to grab a couple big handfuls.

Here's my stash:

From that stash I put together a countdown calendar:

and decorated my trip notebook:

I'll put a few more of the LGMHs together for my bag and stuff, but I figure that's a good start.

Nice job on freeing the LGMH! I have to take the kids to the dentist Tuesday and we actually pass a HD. I might have to make a plan to stop this time and free some myself!

Allyson :)

Exactly one month from today I'll be in Disney!!!!!!!!

This wait is going to kill me, I need it here now!

I was thinking over some of my plans today and I realized that while I had planned on going to the Dolphin to eat lunch, I'm thinking I don't want to do that anymore. It would take at least an hour, if not more, out of my Epcot day and I already have plans for dinner at Teppan Edo that night.

So I need some suggestions...

So far the places I have planned to eat at Epcot are Teppan Edo and Tangierine Cafe.

The way I see it I have a few options:
Head to Beaches and Cream - some negatives of that being, I'd only eat maybe one thing on the menu and probably wouldn't want to get ice cream
Go to ESPN Zone - I can eat at the bar and get an app or a quick sandwich, downside being it would mean leaving Epcot
Sunshine Seasons - Again, only a couple things I would eat there, but upside is that my lunch time plans will put me in Future World
Snack around the world - seems like my best option, but the downside would be that my current touring plan doesn't put me in World Showcase until much later in the day.

Anybody else have any suggestions? I'm not opposed to walking to World Showcase or even changing my touring plan around to be there during the afternoon rather than the evening. I would prefer to stay at or very close to Epcot and I don't really want a sit down meal.

Thanks in advance for your help!

This was my first time trying out the LGMHs. I think they are great and I can't wait to start clipping them off my countdown calendar! I'm for sure going to be on the lookout for them on my trip, I would love to meet another DISer!

Woo Hoo, one month!!! You'll be going before you know it!

I like the snacking around the world option, especially as you'll be there during food & wine. I wish I had done that last year when I went, but being on the DP I was always too full. Lots of things to try that way.
