A bit late, but we have returned from our first cruise on the Disney Wish. We have sailed on Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy so we were curious to see how we'd like this ship. Here is my overall opinion.

Cruise Dates: January 20th - January 24th
Ports: PC, Nassau and Castaway Cay

Port Arrival: We very last minute booked transportation through GO PORT from MCO (where we returned our weekend rental car) to the cruise port. This was easy and seamless and we would easily do it again. We were concerned we would have too much time to wait at the port since the transportation started around 0830am and our port arrival time was 11:45am. We lined up when called, they loaded our luggage in the bus tagged with a number, and we climbed aboard the bus with a LOT of other cruisers. We stopped at multiple cruise ports and ours was the last stop, but that was fine by us as we were not longer too early having caught this first shuttle. We also got to talk to the owner, a former Disney Bus driver, and he was fabulous. I wish I remembered his name but I can't recommend this service enough. It was $30 per person each way. We were dropped of at the same place as the Disney bus, but we did have to go outside and then back into the building. I'm not thrilled with the PC terminal for the Wish, it has no Disney "magic", but our last cruises on DCL have been in other ports (FLL, San Juan) so it's been a while since I've even gone out of PC to compare. The check-in process was fast at least, so we had plenty of time to sit and wait. Our 11:45am boarding time ended up being closer to 1pm I think anyway.

DAY 1 - 20-January: We already knew the weather on our embarkation day would be cold and windy and not swimming weather, so the usual plan to hang by the pool wasn't going to cut it. We decided to wander the ship but first order of business was food. We found 1923 but it was only open for concierge guests, so we ended up at Arendelle instead. 20250120_132019.jpg

The food here was good, don't remember what I got other than this sugar free dessert that was delicious and I had a parmesan roll that was also very good. While we waited for food, my husband and daughter headed to one of the desks on the ship where they could request dining. We had the late dining and wanted the earlier one. They got there when they opened and put us on a list but we were told we couldn't be guaranteed our own table. No problem. I'll try to address this later if I remember. All you should know is later that day we got a notification that we got the earlier dining.

We continued checking on our rooms and wandering the ship. I will say I do agree that I didn't like we didn't have an outdoor deck that we could walk all the way around without stairs. My FIL is 82 years old, gets around pretty well, but he does struggle with knee pain especially on stairs. We did love the bow that you could stand on and took photos there:

We headed to one of the bars to play some trivia and eventually our rooms were ready. We did some unpacking, struggled a bit finding room for all 3 of us to unpack all of our clothes (my 22yo daughter was in the room with us, my 20yo son was in the room with his grandfather). First night of dinner was in 1923.

Impressions: We enjoyed the restaurant and the food. Our servers were just okay. There was a lot of confusion about our table because we had switched, but eventually we had a table...and were seated with 3 40-50 yo women on a cruise without their families. They seemed nice enough, one really engaged with us and with both of my kids, also talked about her son who was in high school. My FIL told some stories about his travel to Italy. It all seemed friendly enough and we were okay sharing a table. After dinner, we ended up catching the first show of our cruise. We found some seats up high, but were surrounded by kids of course and one kicked my husbands seat most of the show. Honestly the show was just okay. I think we did some more stuff that night, not sure. Probably some trivia. Next day would be our sea day.

DAY 2 - 21 January:
We headed to Marceline Market to finally check out the buffet. I did like all of the sinks and they strongly enforced people washing their hands. Also nearly everything except the drinks was served to you, even the utensils were behind the counters of food so you had to ask for them. For some reason we couldn't sit outside, and it seemed like this ship setup had less outdoor seating for the buffet than the Dream or Fantasy. I was able to get made to order omelet and some other food. Our only plan for this day was to enjoy the ship and the much nicer weather.

Spent our day on the adult only pool deck, grabbed some chairs and mostly chilled. We LOVED the adult only infinity pool and that it was so warm. Weird that there really isn't a lot of seating near those pools, so you have most of the adult chairs out in the sun. This was okay for our weather, but I can imagine in hotter weather we wouldn't appreciate a lack of shaded adult areas at least on this one deck. I did like that we could watch the movies from our adult seats. Food was another issue as we had to traverse two or 3 sets of stairs to get to the food for lunch and then bring it up to our seats. I did like the adult loungers and the cushions on them, but of course if it rained that would be an issue.

Let's talk about the pools on this ship. So. Many. Pools. This means a LOT of water on the pool deck EVERYWHERE. Those stairs we had to go down from the adult area to get to the food...between two pools in one area and I think 2 others. They were constantly battling the water on the decks and you really had to be careful walking through there. I almost fell once and that was coming out of a bathroom not even next to the pools.

On this day we attended the DVC Member event, always fun. We also did a learn to draw...I hate that it's just a video but I did like my drawing:

We went to Haunted Mansion Trivia...once again didn't come close to winning.

We played Bingo. So plus and minus to this one entertainment area Luna. I like the top level seating, and at least for BINGO it was great. They had Cast members on both levels...which was great as my FIL won the first round of BINGO and didn't know it until we told him. However with other shows, you can't see the people below you and when they are wandering the audience you miss that interaction. We saw several shows in Luna, from family entertainment to adult entertainment. We had some favorite people who lead these...well one really...but the rest were just okay. Maybe we are just used to getting to know one main adult entertainment person as we have on the Dream (Mario).

We skipped the show this night in favor of other stuff.

Dinner this night was in Marvel, we showed up and only had the table set for our group of five. I glance around and found our 3 'friends" from the 1st nights dinner at their own table. I guess we didn't make a good impression.

Marvel was okay, fun for younger kids I guess and my BIG kid husband. The setup is a bit odd so when Spiderman arrived at the end, we heard the other rooms as he made his way around to the tables but dinner was over and we simply didn't want to wait until the end for him to visit our table. This disappointed my biggest "kid" husband but he high fived him on our way out.

We ended up porting in Nassau around 9pm that night due to a medical emergency and they were taking somebody off the ship. We had a front row view from our balcony room as we docked and when they took the person off the ship.

DAY 3 - Nassau:
We have ported in Nassau on other cruises but haven't been off the ship in years there. It was much different than we remembered, and my husband needed some sunglasses, so we got off and walked around right near the ship. It was okay, not as bad as we remembered, and there were 2 or 3 other ships in port at the same time.

We came back on the ship for lunch and hung out there until dinner. This would be our night of having dinner at PALO, but also Pirate Night. We knew we would dress nicely for dinner then change to pirate garb for afterwards.

Oh almost forgot---I signed us up for a 1 hour (free) tour of the Wish that morning which we did after breakfast. I always love learning about some of the fun things you don't notice on the ship, like the carpet colors and paintings and details. Highly recommend.

Another thing I did this day, after lunch and hanging out at pool, I decided to go on a search for the recreation area. I wish we had found this on day one! They had the Incredibles Obstacle course setup in this room which was cool. I liked this indoor recreation area as it is something that you can use on bad weather days like the table tennis and air hockey. I miss the mini golf course. We also did the Aqua Mouse on this ship (just DH and myself) and really loved it too. I liked that you got on and off this at the same place...right near the adult only deck.

Palo dinner was fantastic as always. Our preference is brunch but my kids have never been old enough to do this restaurant and they chose dinner. My 20yo son is a foodie and totally enjoyed. My 22yo daughter is impatient and didn't like the pace of our service, though the server did ask if we had a time crunch before starting and we said no. Also he had a VERY strong french accent that was a challenge, and when you have an 82yo FIL who is already hard of hearing...well that was fun. The food was good though.

After dinner we donned our pirate garb and watched the pirate show from the deck above the stage, though it did get crowded and a bit unruly with people jockeying for space like we were on Main Street USA before the fireworks. The new show was fun, didn't realize it was all a big rock band show but we loved the music and of course the fireworks.

DAY 4 - Castaway Cay:
How can you not love this island? One of these days we'll check out the new island, but this trip was about the ship. The plan for this day originally was this: the boys were doing the fishing excursion and the girls were doing jetskiing. We have never done either of these activities, and honestly the last 2 visits to CC my DH has signed up for fishing and it was cancelled. We were hoping 3rd time was the charm for him but we found out, after breakfast, that it wasn't the case. The boys all got off the ship earlier to do the fishing while we hung back, had a late breakfast, then had to be at the jetski area at 10:15am I think because that was NOT cancelled.

We had time to kill but didn't want to go all the way to the adult only beach as that was too far from our meeting point. So we just sat on the beach near where we thought we had to be for about an hour. The boys went to the adult beach.

I had considered cancelling this before our trip as the weather didn't seem ideal. You really didn't want to get in the water here but at least it was nice to just sit on a lounger on the beach as it wasn't too hot. What I did like was that I signed us both up for this ahead of time, which meant about $200 each or so but DCL guest services contacted me when we got on the ship and notified me that we could both do it but just on one jetski which was perfect. This is not made clear when you book on the app so if you want to do this make sure you ask.

I think we were supposed to have "15 minutes of instruction" and then 45 minutes of riding with a guide. That's what I told DH. We arrived at the meeting point and there were FOUR of us. The two of us plus another couple...and we were both doing the shared jetski. We got a quick spiel about the inherent dangers, then we mounted our jetskis. Now the two guides asked if we had ever ridden before and we said yes...but that should have probably been no. I think we've both been on jetskis once or twice. Our friends were from Georgia and he said he rode jetskis all of the time and owned them. That was obvious later.

I had my 22yo daughter drive and as the leader got on his jetski and couple #1 followed them my daughter was asking me about the brake??? So we slowly took off and she worked on getting the courage to go fast, as the second guide stayed nearby us and just enjoyed riding the waves and "racing her" as he would say later. Guide and couple 1 were way off in the distance, we could barely see them. So much for staying in a group. Eventually my daughter got some speed and by the time we arrived at the sandbar, passing by the adult beach, she felt pretty confident. We got off at the sandbar, the guides told us a few fun facts, we took a few photos, we talked to the couple, and soon we were back on the jetskis.

20250123_102840(0)~2.jpg

Heading back and my daughter has her bravery. I keep telling her the speed is fine but what I don't emphasize enough is "as long as you stay straight". See the guides knew they could just enjoy this "group" and they started speeding AND adding some turns. Just as I realize this, and try to tell my daughter NOT to take the turn that sharp--it is too late. We are both thrown off the jetski into the water at high speed. We go one way and the jetski the other so at least it makes the turn and of course the automatic shutoff engages.

Now at least the water is warm, or maybe that was the adrenaline. The guide behind us stops to fish us out, our jetski is quite a distance from us, so he is trying to get me to climb on his jetski when I can't even reach the ground and I'm not exactly a lightweight. Amazingly I get on his jetski, my daughter gets on the one with the other guide, and they take us back to our jetski for our return trip.

This time we go more slowly but also the water is REALLY getting choppy so we are REALLY bouncing. My body and my butt don't enjoy the bouncing either. We do make it back, I text my husband to tell him we are coming to the beach, and he asks if I saw those jetskiers fall off their jetski.

NOPE.

We meet at the adult beach, hang for a while, and have lunch. I don't know what the new setup they had for our lunch was but it did not work out well. Hard to explain but the line situation was just weird. We've done the adult beach and buffet many times. This change did not work well.

Later I would video my husband recounting the story of the jetski people that he, my son, and my FIL saw go FLYING in two different directions and I can't contain the laughter during this. My son says he blinked and no longer saw the jetski and people together. My laughter gives away the fact that it was us. Also we are both in pain on the side that hit the water.

I am still recovering from either a bruised or cracked rib, not really sure, but those first few weeks were rough. This 50+ body doesn't enjoy flying through the air at high speeds into the water. I'm just now returning to playing tennis which I do regularly.

Back on the ship later, we hang at the adult pool for a while. It is nice.

I enjoy some snacks before dinner. This pizza was my FAVORITE:

Dinner that night is in Arandelle. This is the BEST way to end the cruise, this dinner show is so fun and perfect to end the cruise. There were many crying children but they got drowned out by the music.

After dinner we saw the Aladdin show...THIS WAS FUN! Do not miss it!

20250123_201527~2.jpg

We watched some more adult shows and visited the Star Wars bar which was cool.

Soon it was time for our last sleep on the ship.

DAY 5: Disembarkation

We chose to have breakfast in Marceline, and I guess a lot of people do this as lines for the sink before entry were long. We waited for our tag to be called before heading down, instead of hanging on the main area like everybody else. Lines wrapped around to get off the ship, but they moved well and were overall organized. Getting our luggage was easy as always and soon we were back on our shuttle to the airport, also easy to find. This time we were not the only Disney Cruise Line people on the Go Port bus.

***
This brings me to the end. If there are specific questions I can answer, ask away. Would I do this ship again? I think I would but I wish it was a longer itinerary as 4 nights isn't enough.

Food overall was good and I didn't have enough time to try it all, especially all of the options around the pool deck. I loved that they served you the ice cream instead of hovering around a machine with others trying to use it, like kids.

I loved the pizza made to order on this deck. I didn't get to try many other stations but they all looked good.

Lunch at Marceline was also good and had many options. They will load you up with food if you want -- just ask.

We were okay with the elevators though I know that's a common complaint.

I missed having one large outdoor deck to walk around the entire ship.

The main pool area was just crazy but I would guess if you had kids it was nice to have so many smaller pools for them to enjoy. They emptied all of them about every hour so that's when it got a bit crazy, but not so much on the adult only deck.

We did several trivia events in different venues and enjoyed them all and even won ONE of them. It was brainteasers but it was just our group vs two other people in one group and Brian (cast member) just made it fun. He was our favorite. If he was leading an event we knew we would like it. I liked that we won a gift bag with several small items instead of just the medals but we did get those also. Trivia is always hard core so we knew it would be tough to win any of the events but we still tried.

I did find it odd that we didn't meet our stateroom attendant until our second day and it wasn't until about day 4 until she realized we had switched to the earlier dinner. We had an issue with the refrigerator "drawer" in our room, it was iced up and we had to leave it open to thaw. We had bought waters to have in our room. We brought a magnetic white board to leave notes for our attendant which worked out. Rooms were always cleaned well.

That's about it. Looking forward to our next Disney cruise maybe in the fall?

I so enjoyed reading about your trip! My Mom and I are sailing on the Wish for the first time in May. I've been on the first four ships already, so really looking forward to experiencing the Dream.

Love the story about the flying jetski riders...nope, didn't see that at all, honey!

The adult infinity pool is something I'm really looking forward to! I wondered about outdoor seating at Marceline Market--we always like to take our plates from Cabanas and eat outside, but I haven't been able to figure out if that's an option at all on the Wish.

Thanks for sharing about your trip!

Thanks so much for your trip report! We sail on the Wish in 2 weeks so it was fun to get a preview of what we want to do. :D

Glad you enjoyed it. I was not finding too much information on the Wish myself so glad I could share. We are most familiar with the Dream as I think we've sailed it 4 times (one was a B2B) and it is the ship we've done the last 3 DVC sailings. I do WISH the WISH sailings were long so we could have more time to explore. With all of the adult areas so spread out, I still feel like we couldn't check all of them out.

The infinity pool was really nice for sure. I loved just hanging out in it and looking out over the water while we sailed.

I feel like there is definitely less outdoor seating at Marceline as I also love to sit outside to eat but there are places. We did get a chance to sit outside a few times. Marceline also these high-top bar like sitting areas along the windows where you can sit and look out over Castaway Cay which my daughter and I did. So you for sure can take plates outside to eat at Marceline.

Hope you have a great trip!

I enjoyed your trip report! We are on our way to Cocoa Beach right now to get on the Wish tomorrow. We have only been on the Wonder and Magic before so I am looking forward to seeing this ship! I am really looking forward to the pool deck food, especially the BBQ.
