Just before Christmas 2004

One afternoon shortly after C.Ann returned from registering her car the Department of Motor Vehicles and dealing with the 75 people ahead of her, she sat in her comfy office chair so she could get to the business of Ebaying and Dis’ing in comfort.

C.Ann has mastered multitasking on her computer.

C.Ann’s sweet granddaughter was expected shortly so they could trim the Disney Princess Christmas tree, bake some holiday cookies and finish wrapping gifts to their loved ones.

C.Ann’s granddaughter was a very good girl and knew the "Grandma" rules applied here.

While C.Ann was busy on her computer spreading faith, love and pixie dust across the Dis she was humming to Weird Al's "eBay song"

A used ... pink bathrobe
A rare ... mint snowglobe
A Smurf ... TV tray
I bought on eBay

Link to song if you’d like to hum along http://superblog.blog-city.com/read/125502.htm

C.Ann does eBay, but doesn’t inhale.

C.Ann decided she’d like to have a meal ready before her granddaughter arrived.

What would it be today?

Homemade macaroni & cheese made with New York Sharp cheese, accompanied by French-style green beans with a hefty shot of garlic salt on them and a very tall, very cold glass of milk?

That sounded tasty, but what about dessert? C.Ann searched her cupboards for the perfect ending to their meal.

Of course, Jello with evaporated milk poured over it and sprinkled with sugar.

While she finished her cooking, C.Ann made herself a cup of Folgers coffee, her favorite. She flipped though the pages of a scrapbook filled with all the papers her granddaughter had done in school since starting Kindergarten last year. It was certainly her most cherished possession.

The bang at her storm door startled C.Ann from her dreamy walk through her granddaughters’ scrapbook. She went to her front door, expecting to see her daughter with her granddaughter.

But there was no one there when she opened the door; there was simply a brown envelope on her doorstep with no post mark and no indication where it came from. She looked around and saw no one, no cars, no mailman.

All of her packages she had purchased from eBay had arrived; she couldn’t even begin to imagine what would be in a brown envelope. She picked it up from her doorstep and quickly closed the door.

She returned to the kitchen and put the brown envelope on her table. The mystery envelope would have to wait; she needed to finish cooking her meal before it burned.

A short time after C.Anns’ daughter and granddaughter showed up. Her daughter had finally forgiven her for corrupting DD Disney Christmas tree with NASCAR ornaments. The enjoyed their meal together and had some laughs about this years Santa letter from her granddaughter, ‘batteries not included, animals sold separately’ complete with her phone number and directions so Santa wouldn’t get lost.

C.Anns’ life just wouldn't be the same without her little munchkin'.

C.Anns’ daughter noticed the envelope on the kitchen table and asked her mom about it. C.Ann had forgotten about it, because she was pre-occupied by her darling granddaughter.

C.Anns’ favorite movie quote is from "Steel Magnolias” ‘I'd rather have 30 seconds of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.’

Beginning September 24, 1999 (?year) her granddaughter had given her over 5 years of wonderful. She knew she was blessed.

C.Ann carefully opened the mystery envelope to discover legal documents.

“What is this, another class action suit that I’m not aware of and a check for 5 cents?” She asked herself out loud.

No, it was an award for bravery from the Association of Black Bear Photography and a check for the grand prize of ten thousand dollars.

What would C.Ann do with the money?

She’d be taking her daughter and granddaughter to DISNEY WORLD for Christmas!

Like you’d ask that anyway.

C.Ann put the award in a shoe box for her granddaughter, a tradition started by her own grandmother.

She ran to her comfy office chair to tell the Dis. She simply couldn’t contain her excitement. There were hundreds of replies to her thread all wishing fun and happiness on her upcoming trip.

She had many plans to make but at least she wouldn’t have to worry about her tree, which would stay up until at least Jan. 6th anyway.

They would need a rental car because C.Ann hates to be confined.

They would fly first class, no chair on the wing for them.

Instead of staying off site, they would stay at the Grand Floridian hotel.

She checked her purse to make sure she had everything in there she needed,
Wallet
debit cards
check book
stamps
pen
driver's license, library card, emergency contact card, health insurance card
small address/phone book
tissues
band-aids
life-savors
tiny spray perfume
tiny spray breath freshener
brush
keys
cell phone
Aleve/Tylenol

Yup, everything was there.

She would finally have to take her Kodak Easy Share CX6230 out of its box and learn how to use it.

C.Ann would also have to speak to her son-in-law about the gifts locked in his classic camaro that no one had the keys to but him.

But first and most importantly she would have to go shopping for proper fitting underwear. Hers have a habit of ‘hiking up.’

With all the excitement, C.Ann, her daughter and granddaughter had worked up another appetite decided to have a snack. C.Ann dashed to her kitchen and produced a fruit tray. The tray had a lovely assortment of cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries, grapes and a mystery melon that was quite tasty.

Everything was going to be perfect on their trip.

Their plane landed on time, the car rental was fast and easy, the weather was warm and sunny.

And there were no love bugs.

The Grand Floridian gave C.Ann a free room upgrade.

They ate at every character meal, saw every show, enjoyed the fireworks and were made honorary princesses in the Christmas parade.

Which all the people from the Dis watched on T.V.

Because none of the other people on the Dis were brave enough to photograph a black bear and win an award.

Hey, C.Ann, LOVE YA, MEAN IT!

I have single-handedly proven the search fuction CAN be fought.

If you wait ten seconds and try again and again, it will give you what you need.

I just couldn't figure out your tags. Why do you feel like a tree?

I'm glad you liked it, it was fun to write!

Come on to the state of Maine, we'd love to have you!

----------------------------------------------

I think it was 2 years ago - and I was staying at our place up to the lake in the Adirondack Mts. for the summer.. My granddaughter was only 3 then.. Every weekend she would come up with her parents and they would stay in their travel trailer on our other lot..

Well - I thought it would be "neat" if I could "train" one of the many chipmunks up there to not only come when I called his name ("Chippy" - like how original is that?????), but also to get right up in my hands to take a peanut..

It was surprisingly easy - only took a couple of days or so - but the plan soon went astray and I found myself being "stalked" by none other than "Chippy"!!

All I had to do was step out the door and ZAP - there he was! If I sat on the steps - or in a lawn chair - or at the picinic table - he would make a mad dash for me and start running up and down my legs, my arms, across my shoulders, etc.. If I tried to run back inside, he would run up the steps and sit right there in front of the door - waiting for me to come back outside..

While telling this ongoing story here on the DIS, I mentioned that I felt like a tree and that's where the "tag" came from.....

-------------------------

Needless to say, if you could go all the way back to when I first started posting here several years ago, you would find that my mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.... LOL ;)

Oh, CAnn that was too funny! Bet that chipmunk misses you all winter!
BTW, my mind has also left completely at times!
