We just came from Build a Bear with my ten year old son. We have so much fun watching him build his dog tonight, as we have always enjoyed this store. Wouldn't it be a blast to have this kind of store at DD and have all the characters to "build" and add different clothes to? I wonder if they'll ever do it, like they are doing with Mr. Potato Head. :D

Good thinking!! That would be so cool... DD loves making her own staffed animals...

There is a build-a-bear store in Orlando (and near Disneyland). They sell Disney costumes for the bears at these 2 stores. We hope to go to the one in Orlando this summer.

You can get a glimps of some of the outfits on e-bay. Just search for Disney build-a-bear. There are usually a few listed.

It would be neat to be able to build the characters too.

Excellent idea, Jillpie!

BTW, my 7 year-old built himself a black labrador when we were at Build-A-Bear a few weeks ago. So cute! He named it Max Jr. after Max, our black lab. :teeth:

That would be awesome if they did!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo They would really rake in the money by doing this!

::yes:: I agree with you. When we had gone to Vegas, my husband and I had built a tiger and a bear, and this time with my daughter, we are planning on going back there. If Disney had a build a Disney character, I would have her do that instead.

That would be a very cool thing to be able to do. :D

It's a great idea. The Phillies are going to have a Build a Phanatic place at their new ball park!

There is a build a bear in the downtown disney at Disneyland. i don't think they had mickey's to build per se but had disney themed clothes. It was a nice activity that my son and i did for an hour of so one evening when my husband was a little tired and in need of quiet time.

That would be a wonderful idea, and a real moneymaker if it was exclusive to the disney parks.
Or, if they wanted to spread the fun, make sure that the ones at the parks had a special signature or something.

Jillpie I'm very impressed with your idea. One thing that occurred to me was that Disney is extremely protective of the image of their characters. Each item must comply with rigid standards which is why Mickey always looks like Mickey, Goofy like Goofy, etc.
If they allow people stuffing the characters to random dimensions. they lose control of the image quality(i.e. characters could be too fat, too thin, have the wrong eyes, etc.).

I love your idea though, and I would do my best to make my Mickey look like the real thing:earsboy:

Nice to get all of your feedback, thanks! Micca, I think you may have a good point. But wouldn't it be loads of fun to have the clothes say, Magic Kingdom or Epcot on them. Oh, the ideas are endless what they could all say. I am 43 yrs. old, and I would be the first one lined up to make my own Mickey. :earsboy:

They do the Potatohead thing down there, I know that. I noticed they are adding a lot of those "build your own" things down there. I saw a make your own bracelet, make your own pin, make your own shirt. I guess that hands on stuff appeals to everyone.
