A box okay for Magical Express?

Hi,

I have received yellow magical express tags and I know that they are for the people who pick up our luggage for us at MCO.
I am planning to ship a cardboard box with consumable items - like diapers, wipes, granola bars, juice boxes, etc.
SouthWest says it's perfectly fine to ship a cardboard box as long as it meets the size and weight requirements. Now, I wonder if it will be picked up by Disney and be delivered to our room, even though it is not a suitcase?

Also, how do they know how many items I have shipped? I have 6 tags (I have requested additional tags), but I think I will end up using just 4 (including the box). Do I tell SW or Disney somewhere, so they know how many to pick up? What if the yellow tag gets misplaced? (or am I overthinking?)

Thank you!

When we check boxes, I use shipping tape to close everything up good and then create a handle out of the tape to make it easy to both attach luggage tags and to pick it up. It is treated like any other piece of luggage, so there shouldn't be any problem with ME identifying it and getting it to your room. Just make sure that your bag has the yellow tag on it. No worries about not using all of your tags. You don't need to tell anyone. (I have not checked a box to WDW; we have done it for trips to Europe and out west for ski trips.)

I would not box stuff up in a box. You risk the chance that if there is rain and your stuff is in a cart on the tarmac that it will get soaked if they don't cover it. Just saying. Just saw a rain storm last week at Nashville and there were several carts of luggage sitting in the rain uncovered. One of the items was a car seat that was getting soaked. Or at least put everything in a bag before putting it into a box and use some duck tape to put your name on the plastic bag as well.

Thank you. we couldn't make a handle as we were in a rush, but we sealed it well.
I hope it gets delivered to the room well!

Thank you. I am in the airport right now and we already shipped it!!! But we put everything in the garbage bag first and then in the box (was also worried about rain). I will know in couple of hours how it is being shipped. thank you!

Bottom line: ANYTHING you check with the airline, Disney's Magical Express will deliver to your resort room just like any other piece of checked luggage. If it flies with the airline, it flies with DME.

Hi all.
So my box got delivered safe and sound (sorta) to the room.
It got inspected by TSA, but that's about it. It was all good. :)

Thank you for your comments!

Once the airline takes possession of your "luggage" or whatever item you have relinquished to them, they are responsible for it! If they leave it to sit in the rain and it gets water damaged, you have the right to file a claim against them and they have to make good on it.
