I'm going on a beach vacation soon and am trying to load up my Kindle with a few books to enjoy while I have a much-needed relax ...

A few of the book I most enjoyed this past year are:

"The Help"
"Room"
"Sarah's Key" (just finished yesterday)

Based upon the books above, can you suggest any other good reads?

Thanks!

I'll second Kevin's recommendation. I read all the books on your list last year and I loved The Paris Wife.

Have you read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo or The Hunger Games series?

I ADORED The Help. The movie was great, but the book was amazing.

I also really enjoyed The Hunger Games and am currently reading Hard Eight by Janet Evanovich. I love this series (Stephanie Plum series) and a movie is coming out in a few weeks based on the first novel. I also enjoyed a few books by Jodi Picoult. You might want to check out descriptions of her novels on Amazon for a few ideas.

Oh, I'm hooked on the Stephanie Plum novels. My friend gave me the first five a few years ago, and I'm currently caught up. Those would be great for a beach vacation!

You're all on the right track! I love the Stephanie Plum (Evanovich) books. I think I've read the first 15 but I know there are more. And I'll check out the Paris Wife - anything with Paris in it sounds good to me.

For Evanovich fans, Love in a Nutshell was just released TODAY. It is not in the Stephanie Plum series, but seems to be a fan favorite already. I haven't read it yet as I'm trying to catch up to Stephanie for right now.

Of those you listed, I've only read "The Help", which I totally loved! I don't know of anything else out there in that vein. I am, however, currently reading Stephen King's new novel "11/22/63", and I'm really loving it! It's not a horror story, it's more speculative fiction.

I'm greatly enjoying "Bossypants" right now. I just love Tina Fey.

A recent favorite of my book club is These is my Words by Nancy Turner. Some of my favorites that come to mind are The Red Tent by Anita Diamant and anything by Marian Keyes, particularly Rachel's Holiday. If you enjoy historical fiction at all, you could look into Madame Tussaud by Michelle Moran and The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory. With the dictionary button on my kindle, I've revisited some classics like Jane Eyre and enjoyed that. You could always try some free samples on your kindle to see if it's the beach read you're looking for. Happy reading. Have fun at the beach!

Lots of great ideas here! I'll add The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I'm about half way through and totally enchanted.

JD Robb's IN Death series is great. Start with Naked In Death.
Nancy :thumbsup2

I love the books you listed. How about Molokai by Alan brennert or Thirteenth Tale? I loved both of them.

Another vote for Saving CeeCee Honeycutt! Also, how about: Firefly Lane, The Kitchen Boy, The Glass Castle or Her Mother's Hope? I loved all of these.

I am subscribing to this thread for some great book recommendations.

Currently I am reading Divergent by Veronica Roth..I really am enjoying it it's in the same category as I would say the hunger games. I read that it was picked up to be turned into a movie and they are hoping for a twilight/hunger game type of following for it.

I recently read Unbroken which was an amazing book. While I found it to be a fast read I also found it to be a tough read because some of the subject matter was a little unsettling, but it really is an amazing true story.

after divergent I am going to go with kevin's recommendation for the paris wife.

Oh, well I definitely enjoyed the first two, so I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy Sarah's Key too.

That said, I've really enjoyed Mindy Kaling's book "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?"

Definitely good for a laugh, especially if you enjoy "The Office."
