A book for Caitlyn - please help

There is another thread on this but it is a little confusing at this point. I'm going to start this one and just include the instructions on how to help. I'm trying to save all of Robin's posts to make a memory book for Caitlyn. I can search the regular boards but the archived threads cannot be searched and must be looked at page by page. All 2026 pages of them. We have already started but anyone that has some time can look for Robin's posts. Here is how.

1) This thread will be the signup, just check here for the last pages done and assign yourself the next pages. Watch for someone posting at the same time so you don't check the same pages but if you do that's okay. It won't hurt to have duplicates.

2) Follow this link: http://www.disboards.com/showarchiv.php?s=&action=showarchives&forumid=-1

3) Go to the page you want to start with, I haven't found a better way to advance pages other than go to the highest number shown at the bottom.

4) The archive pages have these column headers.

The forums are all mixed in so we do want to account for the pages with these forums but that would be the end of the search.

5) If the page has community board or another board Robin may have posted on open each thread and look down the list of posters. You can also use find on the edit otion of internet explorer & search for robin once the page is open.

6) If you find a post from Robin, copy and paste the subject, date & time and her post into this thread. Use edit on your signup post to add the information.

7) After you've finished the pages you've signed up for edit your signup post to say you've finished.

DFW DISers....lets take on Six Flags. Sept 9 DIS meet (UPDATED)!!!
HI....

Just wanted to see if any of you guys are interested in a DIS meet at Six Flags over Texas. CBRDec00 and WDWHound will be there with my gang and I an Sept 9th. We would love anyone/everyone to join us...if it is easier we could also meet outside the park for lunch in the Arlington area.

OK....We are all meeting outside the gates at 10:40 am and hitting the coasters!!! For those that are just wishing to join us for lunch it will be at 1pm at the Cheddars right across the street on Six Flags Blvd.


I need an exact head count to get a table big enough.

Have you helped a kid lately??
I know we are all good at helping those less fortunate around the major holidays. But I was wondering if anyone has thought to help a needy child with back to school stuff?? I helped 2 kids (their father has terminal cancer and can not work) get much needed school supplies, clothes, personal items, ect. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun it was taking these kids to get them things. The look in there eyes had to be pretty close to the look in ours while at Disney World. I also donate a couple of Halloween costumes to women shelters every year. There is often a lot of help around Christmas...but I think we should really try to make a difference all year round.

I am not an overly religious person but I often think of what my dad used to tell me before he passed. "It's only by the grace of God that we are not in their shoes"

Am I the only one that gets the creeps at the idea of marriage??
PLEASE Someone else out there must feel the same way. I have been divorced for a while now and have ZERO interest in ever getting re married. It's not that I dont have a great relationship with my SO..he's wondeful and I am very much in love. It's just when ever anyone even mentions getting married I feel like I'm going to throw up. Dan has hinted at wanting to "tie the knot"....I kind of laughed it off by telling him "The fasted way to end a relationship would be to put a ring on my finger". That has been a couple of months ago now..and I think he understands not to bring it up. We are very commited to each other...I just dont have any interest in being "legally tied"

Does anyone else feel like this???

Kids losing their father to cancer. Need ideas.
My babysitter and her little brother are going through a really hard time (they are 14 and 10). Their father is in the final stages of lung cancer. The Dr has ordered the hospice service to their home and he is not expected to last but maybe 1-2 weeks. I have been picking up the kids and trying to get them a little relief, their mother works full time and is unable to take time off unless its life or death (which I think this qualifies as but her boss says no...She is in the management training program for Wal-Mart....Yet another reason why I hate that store). I lost my father due to cancer a few years back and I dont want the kids to have to go through this alone. I dont know how to make them understand that I love them and care for them dearly. Since the father has no life insurance Dan and I are trying to arrange the funeral....he is a vet so he can be burried at the National Cemetary and I have a frined that can do the flowers if I buy the supplies. I want to make this easier on the family...just dont know what would actually help. Any sugestions?

I dont ask very often but they could really use some prayers and PD!

Someone PINCH me...I have a kid FREE weekend!!!
OMG....I thought my house was going to be over run with kids this weekend. It turns out that my mother wants to take Caitlyn, Marty, and Chase for the weekend.(Caitlyn is mine...the other 2 are loaners.lol) I am shocked...Dan and I haven't had time to ourselves for a long long time.

After this weekend I don't think I have any interest in EVER spending more than 3-4 hours at a time with my mother. When I got home from Six Flags yesterday I was so stress that my stomach was in knots.

Chocolate whipped cream in a can. YUMMY.
I went to the grocery store last night and found the most wonderful thing. Its by Redi-Whip... CHOCOLATE WHIPPED CREAM in a spray can.... it taste like soft serve icecream. I bought a package of strawberries to go with it and it was to die for.

WOOHOO... I am finally part of the 1% club! Update on me!
After over 2 years I am FINALLY over 1000 posts. It just amazes me that some of the 'newbies' already have more than the Aug 99 folks!!


I just wanted to thank all of my DIS friends for the ongoing support you guys have given me.


Also... a brief update about my life.

My ex continues to NOT have solo visitation.
Caitlyn is making great progress with counseling.
Dan and I are VERY happy together.
I feel like I have a true family. Caitlyn calls Dan "Dan Daddy" now.
I am feeling healthier this week... the MS isn't dragging me down
We will be at WDW in 59 days.. staying at the Dolphin.
I love my job!

ARGH... My ex almost got me arrested!
OK... Deep breath..... calm... deep breaths.

When I first seperated from my ex I closed my bank account and left no fowarding address... I needed time to regroup and wanted to be alone. Well.. fast forward over 2 years... I'm driving my car and get pulled over (I did't use my blinker and it was late at night) The officer was very nice.. didn't even give me a ticket. Well... Yesterday I opened my mailbox and had 4 letters from the county clerks office I have 5 outstanding warrents for checks written on a closed account. My worthless ex wrote bad checks to..... 2 "adult" bookstores, 2 comic books shops, and a pizza place. These checks were only in my name and now they say that I have no choice but to pay the freaking fines.. it's over $1200

Thank goodness for Dan... he is going with me to take care of it today, I am so upset I could just scream. Oh... and when I asked my ex about the checks he said I wrote them... I after all am a pervert.

Pantyhose and sandals?
I'm going to a formal wedding tomorrow night and can't decide on my footwear.

I'm wearing a black dress (hits a little below my knee).... I bought the matching black strappy open toe sandals to go with it. Mom thinks that I must wear pantyhose to 'complete' the outfit... I think pantyhose look funny with open toed sandals.


HELP....I don't want to get pulled over by the fashion police!

The Monkey Bars won!


Last night Caitlyn fell off the monkey bars at the park and fractured both bones in her forearm. Looks like she will be in a cast for 4-6 weeks... they are casting her arm on Thursday.

She has taken it really well... but I have yet to tell her that a cast = No Swimming.

I didn't know Robin except by way of reading these boards, but she was obviously a wonderful loving mother and friend. Janette, If I can help in any way, please let me know. I'd like to send my condolences to the family.

I found this post by Robin from 10-06-2002 especially touching.

"When my father passed away a few years ago Mom and I would think about him whenever we found a penny - usually the pennies would appear when we were feeling down and needed a little pick me up. Dan and I explained the idea behind the penny to Caitlyn and said that everytime she finds a penny that will mean that Dan Daddy is smiling down at us in heaven. Caitlyn seemed to find confort in thinking that in someway Dan could always reach her, she ran to her room and got her piggy bank to give to Dan... that way he would have lots and lots of pennies in heaven to use. Today after the medical examiner left with Dan's body Caitlyn and I went driving (I had no idea what I wanted to do or where we should go) Caitlyn wanted to stop and get something to drink. She found a penny on the way in to the gas station.. that was all she seemed to need. Caitlyn is at peace now knowing that Dan left her a penny. I wish I could be that easily calmed."
