A bit of a cheat

Let's say I make reservations at Crystal Palace for, say, 8:30 a.m. for a day the MK opens at 9, and I enter the park early but don't report to CP. Instead I just wander around, take some pictures and line up at the rope just before 9 a.m. Does anybody say anything? Would this be a problem?

And not eat at all?

A CM will likely stop you and ask what you're doing behind the rope if you're not on your way to a restaurant for breakfast. If you don't eat at CP, you'll also be taking away a table from someone else that may really want to dine there.

This would not be OK on a few levels. You would not be allowed to wander the park. There would be CM's all over and they would not let your just wander

Second, you would have taken an ADR for a prime time (before the park opens) and not used it. There would most likely be other families that would have loved to dine there but now is not able to because you took the adr and did not use it.

Besides, you have a two year old boy -- take him to breakfast with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, for heaven's sake!!! MUCH more important than being first at rope drop And he'll be in a much better mood for touring the parks if he's had a lovely breakfast.

I immagine you could take a few pics on Main St before heading into the ressie. That way you get the best of both worlds.

If you are O.K with being a bit of a 'cheat'...why ask if it is ok?
Why worry about someone who really wanted to eat at CP at that time but couldn't because you wanted to take some pictures?

I haven't done a MK character breakfast in awhile but at AK a CM walks you over to the breakfast - it wouldn't work at AK. Of course maybe this has nothing to do with anything and why am I even mentioning it?

If you want to take a pic by the Partners statue on the WAY to CP, you can. Or on Main street. Sometimes even for the 8:05 reservations, the photopass photogs are out there already when we walk in.

If you want to be out by rope drop, make an 8:05 reservation. We do every trip and 9 times out of 10, we are out of the restaurant by the time the park opens at 9. And when we get out before 9, usually the lands are roped off and a CM is standing by the rope, so you wouldn't be able to wander anywhere other than Main Street, the Hub, and to the back of the castle where CRT is.

Please don't take a reservation away from someone who would actually use it. As others have said, you don't get to wander around aimlessly anyway.

Well, Gus, since you asked - Yes, it would be a problem! Maybe CM's would NOT stop you, maybe they would NOT insist on escorting you to CP, but it would be a problem to make an ADR you purposely plan to not attend, just to get in the park "early".

The ADR double bookers and non-attendees really irk me for some reason.

And I never cease to be amazed at creative minds at work to "cheat" the rules in one way or another.

Buy the breakfast. Go. Splurge. Treat yourselves. Enjoy - no worry, no hassles!

No, only a handful of places require this, and Crystal Place is not one of them.

It is being reported on a couple posts that CP is now requesting a CC guarantee of $10 pp

Another good reason why this strategy wouldn't work.

I just booked an ADR for Crystal Palace last week and they didn't ask for a credit card. Of course this might be happening in the future, just not right now....I guess.

I heard they are going to start a CC for CP but that could be wrong. My guess is that they have a hard time making people follow through esp. in MK because you get caught up in the magic of it and blow off CP and just figure you can eat elsewhere. So why not add a CC and in regards to "cheating" I would not do this. Its like I called 3 days in a row 3 times a day for a few ressies and finally got them. But to know that somebody made ressies just to go to take pics of the park I would not be happy. I am not doing CP this trip but think of those who might not get a ressie because you got to it before them. Your son would love the character interaction anyways, it is a great place to go

It's fun getting pictures of Main Street empty. I had 8:05 reservations at CP and did that. Got into MK at 8, walked down the street, even got a picture of DD sitting next to Roy. Since you can't get into any other part of the park until 9, this would have left me with almost an hour to kill. Fortunately, we ate breakfast and still got out in time for the rope drop.

It seems silly to go into the park before 8 just for pictures.

I would hate to think that you are considering the idea of holding some other family, possibly with young children, from "experiencing the magic" of their character breakfast just to try and get a few extra minutes inside to get to the rope drop.

This is an example of why the TS's are now starting to require credit cards for now shows.
