A big Hello and Please Help!

Firstly hello to all I am new here and normally hang out on thedibb but I and my partner have recently been looking at intimate weddings at Disney and have come across your site.

We are booked to stay in AKL for two weeks in May this year and we are just about to book a intimate wedding at WL sunrise Terrace and wondered if anyone can give us the layout of an intimate wedding at WL? We were going to book the wedding at AKL Asante Terrace but reading threads of the web it looks as if this is no more!

If i give you some idea of what we are hoping for perhaps someone can say if this is something that has been done before?

It will only be the two of use at the wedding so I am hoping this wont be an issue and we are both very shy and dont like big crowds so have chosen WL sunrise Terrace out of all the locations to try and make it a small and intimate as possible.

We would like to have a morning wedding and wondered what will happen on the day should we have a 11am wedding for example? When do we get up? Can my partner have her hair done? What will happen after the wedding ceremony with just the two of u? Is there only a reception if we organise one with members of the family what will happen after the ceremony with just the two of us?

Welcome and Congratulations!

I LOVE the WL! Sunrise Terrace is so pretty! We were married there in October and it was the most perfect day We chose WL Sunrise Terrace for the same reasons, we wanted something outdoors but all of the other outdoor locations are so "out in the open" but WL is pretty private, as private as you can get outside the WP, I think. The privacy thing was important to us too. The view of the lake really is breathtaking for the Terrace.

Our ceremony was at 3:00 but I can give you a basic timeline. My hairdresser came to me and did MIL, MOH, and me. I got ready about 1:30 but didn't get into my dress until closer 2:30. At 2:30 DH and all other guests went to the lobby to meet our EM and our photographer, Ty, and the fabulous Rev. Jack Day, then the guests and Ty went up to Sunrise Terrace on the 4th floor of WL. My daddy came to my room about 2:00. Our EM called the room about 2:50 and daddy, MOH, my best friend, and I went to the lobby to meet our EM and Rev. Jack.

We all took the elevator up to the 4th floor and met Ty. Then I could see the wonderful cake that was set up. The cake cutting is just inside the Sunrise Terrace in the hotel, behind all of the glass that looks out onto the lake. It's such a gorgeous view!

The ceremony started just about 3:00, I guess, I didn't have a watch on, with MOH walking in, then my daddy and me. If it's just the two of you then you could walk in together or individually. Disney will keep you separate if you do not want to see each other before the ceremony. The ceremony took about 15 minutes and then pictures were taken, we had the cake cutting, Rev. Jack did the toast, more pictures, presentation of our DFTW Certificate and our (secret) special DFTW gift. We enjoyed our cake and then headed to the lobby and outside with our photographer for more and more pictures, we took pictures for over an hour. Then it was done and we separated from our guests to have a private evening.

I lived in Orlando for most of 2005 so DH and I visited the site several times and I was worried how it would be set up for wedding, but no worries, it was really nice My MOH and best friend did some additional decorating on the Terrace for the ceremony but it's not like that was "necessary" to make it nice.

JandJ that is absolutely brilliant and makes us both feel much better. We are staying at the animal kingdom lodge and are hoping that our limo will be able to take us to and from WL but worst case i suppose i will have to drive!

Did you pay extra for the photographer or was that the standard Disney photographer that took over and hour of photos?

If we can we hope to have the wedding in the morning so after we can slop of somewhere and enjoy the rest of the day together rather than waiting all morning for it.

Did you have to book the hairdresser extra as we only have the basic deluxe intimate package at the moment? If so can we do that when we get there or do we need to do that in advance and what sort of price was it extra?

Sorry for all the questions but we have literally just paid it all off and confirmed that we would like the WL sunrise terrace for 9th or 10th May....

Hi, congratulations.
I read in our travel agent paper that they are stopping the weddings at AKL. It said that people had noticed that when it was warm there was an odd smell. I just wanted to give you a heads up so that you could check first.

funniebunny thanks and yes i believe you are right so we have booked to get married at WL sunrise terrace and are just staying at AKL for the two weeks we are out there.

I believe we have a limo for 4hrs as part of our intimate wedding although i need to double check which will hopefully take us back and forth.
