I'm planning our first trip for Nov. I really think it would be fun to do Tusker House for the breakfast buffet right before park opens. The problem is that my husband LOVES breakfast food and gets carried away and all excited at buffet type places:lmao:He then proceeds to snarf down tons of food and as a result he complains later that he feels bloated and gross and needs a nap.
I plan on eating then running all around AK and I don't want to listen to him whine about how he ate too much. Do any of you have husbands that go nuts at buffets so you can relate? :rotfl2:
I am almost feeling like I should avoid Tusker which I really wanted to do because of this problematic husband and buffets. Anybody do a large buffet type breakfast and then regret it and feel that it put a damper on your touring of the day? Maybe we should stick w/ a lighter breakfast in the morning and save the family style or buffet stuff for dinner. Or maybe I should fill my husband's plate for him like I would for the kids making sure he only chooses healthy, non sluggish foods:laughing:

My Entire family is like that:lmao: but it's a great picture oppurtunity since you'd go in before everyone and that's pretty rate. And since it's AK, you guys can take it slow and go ride the safari afterwards. You guys can relax while in line and since it's early in the morning, the animals will be out and about.

Have fun on your first trip, and hope this helps

We love to do the breakfast buffets. We do them 1st thing in the am then we go and enjoy the parks till it gets too hot(we go in july or august) then we leave and go back for a nap..When we get done napping and get ready to go back to the parks we have dinner..We can eat a huge breakfast then have a snack and then have dinner. I have 3 kids who love breakfast though so they will eat better doing this than if we ate lunch somewhere. We also like to do the breakfast buffets to get the character interaction...

Snarf :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: I love it. I'm the snarfer but I'm total commando, I don't let anything stand in between me and having fun. I went to Disney one time during a torential down pour, there was no one in the park. We got to the MK and hour after it was opened and still parked in the very first row, that's how bad the rain was. If that didn't stop me I don't think a little bit of food will get in the way. If he wants to go that bad try giving him the bums rush, hurry him out of there before he can eat too much. Oh and ask for the check when you order, that way you can pay and try to rush him out. Hope that helps.

We never do big breakfastes at WDW because we do rope drop and the big roller coasters first-dont want to 'get sick" on the ride;)

do you like to do Exped. Everest right away? If you're not doing the roller coaster or Dinosaur for awhile you might be OK doing the big breakfast.

If you do like the wild rides, how about getting there at rope-drop, doing all the active rides first & go to breakfast buffet at like 10:30 or so?

We have done breakfast buffets several times before park opens and we were fine with it as long as we had a more leisurely touring plan that day (like the 2nd day we went to Magic Kingdom)

Ok I am the Dad that love buffets to:rotfl2:. I was looking at this very Issue for our up comeing trip. We are doing the DxDP and doing three meals a day and was trying to fegurie how to do this with out falling asleep on HM at MK,uh like I never did that:sad2::confused3:rotfl2:.
so here Is my Plan and maybe some help for you. I am planning on doing smaller meals, with the enticement of trying more places. Now you may not be eatting again, but try to tell him to leave room for a later treat. That way you might get him to not eat as much.

This actually worked out pretty well on our last trip. We had an early TH breakfast, and then after, we walked the two trails to help digest :rotfl: It worked out great! Enjoy your trip!!

OP here:wave2:
Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to stick w/ my Tusker breakfast first thing and then plan on doing the safari and trails after. No Everest for awhile. The hubster will have time to chill on the safari and leisurely walk the trails or maybe the Bug movie while he digests the mountain of biscuits and gravy he'll eat. lol
p.s. and my husband is in shape too! How come I can't snarf at buffets and stay in shape? not fair!

Throw a roll of Tums in your bag just in case and stick to your plan to do the milder attractions. If hubby complains tell him to sit on a bench for a bit while you have a good time.

I'm like you. I can't chow down like that.

If we do a character buffet breakfast, we usually do them right before they turn over for lunch. So it sort of acts as an early lunch, then we have an early dinner. This lets us ride all the big rides first at rope drop, then we eat a big breakfast, then do the smaller rides/attractions, then back to room for afternoon rest/pool break. We have an early dinner (5ish) and head back to the park for the evening celebrations (fireworks, Fantasmic, whatever).

It works out great for us. We normally eat a nutrigrain bar or granola bar and coffee/tea in the morning in the room first thing before we head out for the day.

Another big breakfast, buffet lovin', Dad here. I love my breakfasts - I wish WDW had buffets that served breakfast food all day long. Big breakfasts never slowed me down. I always felt it was a necessity, with all the walking you do, to start your day with a hearty breakfast.

I eat and ride, I even drink and ride, it never affects me. But I don't like breakfast food (except pancakes) and generally skip that meal, so I haven't had a big breakfast before rides anytime that I can remember.

I don't think you are going to be too successful filling your husband's plate for him when he's an adult and there is food wherever he is going to turn at a buffet. I would say you either choose not to do the breakfast or accept that he is going to eat a ton and then want a nap later.

My DH complains too.. but less at WDW than at home after a big meal cause you walk it off!

As pp posted he will be walking it off. This is probably the best park for doing this. We also have in the past done the big breakfast, a snack in the afternoon and then dinner in the evening. Alot of time that dinner was counter service. Also there is the fact thatThat after 1 or 2 days of doing this he might get the hint that this is not the right thing to do. What about reminding him not to get 2nd or 3rds or he will get 2 bloated.

I forgot tell you our plan for our tuskerhouse Breakafast:cool1:, I have actually made my ADRs for 9:30am on a morining EMH at AK. We can get Everest out of the way,a couple times! and maybe a safari and Dinsoar before eatting our Breakfast. We have a 2pm lunch at Yak and Yeti(TS),we are on the DxDP. So we will not (hopefullly over do it at Tusker house:idea:) over eat,we like the buffets for the varety and of course the chacters.

We like to go to AK on EMH mornings, we don't do Everest but the earlier, the better for the animals. Then we schedule our Tusker House ADR between 9.30 and 10.30AM (depends on what we can get). Gives us plenty of time to do what we want before, then we go see Lion King or/and Tough to be a Bug.
Works great for us!

:goodvibes That's a great idea. Even if it is limited breakfast items. I can do breakfast/brunch any time of the day. ... maybe this would help 'Chef Mickeys'
:yay:

We have eaten large breakfasts in the past, and we do tend to feel really full .. but it doesn't hold us back from our touring plans! In fact, because of all the walking, usually within an hour or so we feel much better and not nearly as bloated as when we left the restaurant after overeating.
If you want to do Tusker House, do it! If your DH needs a nap mid-AK day, there are plenty of benches he can rest at :rotfl:
