96 Days to Go...Got Any Countdown Ideas?

We are excited about our 3rd Annual Trip to WDW with our DD 2 and DD 3. I would like to do some sort of trip countdown for them that they will understand. Any ideas? I thought of doing a Disney Recipe each weekend but I think that is more for me and DH then them. If I do a chain, how would I decorate it?

My countdown consists of using the Home Depot Mickey Head paint colors sample chips. I peeled off the heads and numbered them from 1 to 60. I laminated them and put magnets on the back. When the 60 day mark approaches I line them up on the fridge and each day remove one. It's fun to watch the heads dissappear. You can start at any number and even count down by months if your count down is a year away.

For our friend's DS we bought some cheap Disney scrapbooking paper at the local "big box" retailer and made the chain from it. He loved it, especially when the chain got very short!

we did the home depot paint heads also. But I did not have the patience to peel them off. So my daughter and I just numbered from 50 down to day we leave, and we just taped them to her door. She looked forward to every morning to peel one off her door.

The year before I got a calender box kinda like an advent calender that had 25 drawers in it, and I put a little surprise in each day from a pin to decal to tattoo type of stuff.

We just did an old fashioned paper chain for the last 30 days and hung it on the fireplace like garland. Our boys (7 and 4) loved cutting one off each day before we left.
