My FIL has chronic lymphocitic leukemia too. I am pretty sure that is what it is called. Whichever one it is, basically you are never cured, you are just in remission. This has changed somewhat though in the last few years. He took Interferon for years and actually it was not supposed to work for that long. Now a new drug was released by Novartis that I think is called Gleevic, and he takes that and they say as long as he keeps taking it, he will stay "cured."
A friend of ours at church also was diagnosed a long time ago--at least 10 years--with some type of leukemia. She does not have the right kind for the drug FIL takes, but she sure seems fine. I don't know the whole story with that.
