$95 resort fee

I saw a listing for a week at okw and it says the $95 fee is for the "magical express". Uh, ok.

Actually my mom just made a ressie through RCI for my niece at OKW and when she called to make the ressie she was told by RCI that the 95.00 fee was payable at the resort and the fee was to cover Disney transportation and ME. Whether it is true or not who knows but she was told this directly from RCI.

The fee is charged because RCI exchangers will pay it---and, before that, because II exchangers would. The only thing it gets you to which you would not be otherwise entitled is the ability to call Member Services and speak to them directly about the reservation, even though you are not the owner of the points used to book the week.

I refer to it as "The DVC Extortion Fee".

Thank you for your e-mail. We apologize for the delay in our response.

The Terms & Conditions of the RCI Weeks Subscribing Membership prohibits
the auction, rental or sale of Deposited Vacation Time Inventory.
(This information can be found in Section 2C of the Terms & Conditions
available on RCI.com.)

RCI Weeks members cannot rent their deposited weeks to other members or
the general public. It is a violation of the Terms and Conditions of
RCI Membership to offer a week deposited with RCI, including any
vacation obtained in exchange for that week, to a third party.

If you would like to see the complete Terms and Conditions of RCI

Conditions" link located at the bottom of the RCI homepage.

As mentioned in the Terms and Conditions of RCI Membership, selling
weeks that are deposited in with RCI for exchange is a violation of our
Terms and Conditions for RCI Membership:

Section 5. Depositing Vacation Ownership And Requesting An Exchange

b) By depositing Vacation ownership with RCI, you represent and warrant
to RCI that: *** (2) the deposited Vacation Ownership has not been and
will not be assigned, offered or made available to any third party;
***."

When you deposit your week with RCI, you may exchange that week for
another vacation week which has been deposited in RCI's inventory. When
you receive an Exchange Confirmation, you have the right to use the
designated unit at the host resort for the time period specified. The
confirmation does not transfer ownership of the timeshare property to
you. Because you do not own the vacation time received through an
exchange, you may not rent it to a third party.

As stated in Section 12 of the Terms and Conditions of RCI Membership,
an Exchange Confirmation may only be used by the RCI member receiving
the confirmation, unless it is given as a gift to a family member or
friend via an RCI Guest Certificate. Members may not use Guest
Certificates for any commercial purpose, including rental or sale.
Violation of this guideline could result in the termination of your RCI
membership.

We hope this explanation provides you with a better understanding about
RCI's Exchange Program guidelines.
