90's Grunge/Alternative Rock

Layne Staley had a great vocal instrument. Alice in Chains and Mad Season were something special. Loved the Staley/Cantrell contributions. Chris Cornell in Soundgarden captured me as well. His vocals in "Ugly Truth" and "Hands All Over" were something I have never heard before. That gentleman "ROCKED". And he has kept it up with Audioslave. Which brings me to my next 90's band, "Rage Against The Machine". Zach and "Bulls on Parade"....wow!!
As far as "alternative" was concerned, Morrissey, The Smiths, The Replacements, Paul Westerberg (lyrics - Love Untold) were outstanding. I also loved Toad The Wet Sprocket and Frankie Black.
Now, you can give me Disturbed, Godsmack, Breaking Benjamin and P.O.D. And don't forget the greatest "unfamous" band of this generation, Kings X.

And as posted by Ducklite:That said, there's plenty of other great music out there. New releases by Three Days Grace, KoRn, Breaking Benjamin, Halestorm, Seether, and P.O.D. have all earned 4.5 or 5 stars from me in the past six months, and I expect that several other not yet released CD's I'm waiting on review copies of will earn the same grades.

Check out the band "More" form New York. Some of their tunes can't be forgotten.

RIP Layne Staley. I crewed for AIC on their first US tour, awesome, awesome band.

I'm also a big Soundgarden fan. Chris Cornell...mmmmmm....

Loved STP.

And Cardawy, yup, Temple of the Dog and Mother Love Bone were both GREAT bands. I never saw Temple, but I did see MLB open for someone in early 1990.

I loved Layne Staley! I listen to their Unplugged CD everyday, awesome! I also loved Stone Temple Pilots, Scott Weiland is so hot!

Tool is the successor to Alice in Chains IMO. I was lucky enough to see U2, The Cure, The Replacements, The Smiths, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen, and R.E.M. in the 80's.

Mr. Stipe himself signed my Green concert shirt in a bar following an appearance. :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Running Up The Hill and Wake The Witch. Did you get The Dreaming?

I have all her stuff from The Kick Inside to the one with the song about Houdini (red/dark cover) that came out around 1992 I think....

Most of it is one cassette though.. and no more cassette player

I am a HUGE Morrissey freak! I love pretty much everything he does. Plus he's not too hard on the eyes either! :cloud9:

Its a shame Morrisey plays for the other team  Love the Smiths as well... have a bunch of their stuff on cassette as well.

Sinead O Connor (her concert was kick butt!)
David Bowie

and I saw the B 52's recently --and they put on an amazing show.

My favorite Kate album is "The Kick Inside". And I even like the duet "Don't Give Up" with Peter Gabriel!

Also, I love the Pixies!! Oh and the Sugercubes in early Bjork days!

You know Kate Bush is the voice on Peter Gabriels song Games Without Frontiers..

The Jeux son Frontierie (sorry my French spelling is awful) is Kate singing.

90's grunge all I have in my car!

PJ
AIC
STP
Pumpkins
Nirvana

DH and I are PJ fan club members. We try to go to two concerts on each tour if they are relatively close by. Can't wait until my son is old enough to go with us!

Can you believe that PJ is considered classic rock now? They play rock blocks of them on VH1 Classic.

Yessss, The Jesus and Mary Chain are a great band.

Sonic Youth as well.

Oh HOW could I have neglected to mention Jesus and Mary Chain?? Thank you Amity and Bellhop for reminding me. Stoned and Dethroned is the BEST make-out music!
