I have to say, this is going much easier than I thought it would. After 12 years and a pack and half a day, I quit cold turkey. The first 3 days were pretty rough, but now....
Every once in a while I'll have a pretty intense craving, but mostly I find myself not even thinking about it. And, so I don't gain weight, I've lowered my calorie intake a little, and I am exercising more than I normally do. I definitely feel more awake. And I was afraid of not being able to sleep, but that never happened. If anything, I'm sleeping better.

I also survived my first weekend in the bars w/out smoking, and did just fine!! The only thing is, you drink your drinks faster, and it seems to hit me a little faster.:p

thanks everyone for your good wishes!!
Andrea

Good for you! Congratulations!

YEAH!!:) Keep going the end result will be worth it. My dad quite 3 years ago and is happy he did.

Andrea I am an ex-smoker too. In Aug 2000 I was advised to give up smoking by my doctor and not to put on weight - I am already overweight so it was important that I didn't put any weight on - which I managed to do through willpower and thinking that I didn't need food to compensate for ciggies as that would be me still having a crutch and I felt that I was "better" than that. It worked I didn't smoke for 15 months. Sadly I took to the wicked nicotine again in January whilst I was going through a marital break-up and stress at work etc (how easy it is for me to think of what I believed to be valid excuses). I left my job in May and the day I walked out of the office is the last day I had a cigarette.

I think you're doing very well just keep at it - you are stronger than nicotine.

Can I also give you a piece of advice that worked for me when going to a bar. If someone you knows, knows very well that you have given up but still insists in offering you a ciggie just remember it is their guilt and insecurity with themselves that is prompting them to do that and you should feel sorry for them because they are just jealous of your wonderful willpower.

It's not easy but one day at a time heh?

WAY TO GO BABAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're body will be grateful!!!!!! As will you and your family!

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!! Keep up the good work. Don't get sanguine. Don't even THINK of picking up even 1 cigarette. The physical cravings disappear in the first 10 days, but it's the psychological cravings that " do people in".

Good Luck :D :D :D

Babar.. wow.. this is great news.. Be strong, Be proud,

That's awesome!! I quit smoking cold turkey about a year a and a half ago, and have since NEVER regretted it! At times the cravings are still there, psychologically, but I take them as they come and always overcome them, you will too. Keep taking it day by day! You are doing great so far!:teeth:

That's fantastic!!!

You can do it now, the worst is over!

Congratulations!
