9 days 2 resorts FREE Dining Christmas Lights & a bouncing Tigger who stole my heart

So where was I. . . We had just checked in at POR and had made our way to our room. It was probably going on 6:00 by now but for some reason it felt more like it was about 9:00 to me. :confused3 I seriously felt like we should unpack and go to bed. I think it was a combination of having just turned back the clocks an hour a week before vacation and the entire day of traveling. (maybe it was that 1 1/2 hours on the ME bus, who knows) But I felt pretty crappy. I was hoping that after I got something to eat I would be feeling better.

I apologize for the repeated pictures here for those of you who already read my POR review. But here are our room pics ~

We weren't overly impressed with the inside of the room. But we knew that going in. There was nothing wrong with it. Just maybe not our style. But everything was there and it was fairly clean, so we unpacked our carry-on luggage and got settled in a bit and then headed out to the food court for some dinner.

Thanks for the heads up, Shelly:thumbsup2 I'm here and happily not too far behind! Got my Diet Coke and ready to sit back and enjoy the trip. :surfweb:

Shelley I always enjoy your reports. Maybe it's cuz we're also from PA and have 2 boys - ages 7 and 8. Anyway, waiting for your next installment!

Okay, so OT a bit. Well not really off Disney topic, but off my TR topic!

After we got our carry-on's unpacked and everything put away we headed out to the POR food court for dinner. Here is the menu:

Lots of good choices. I got the Customize Your Own Salad. You tell the CM what all you want in your salad and she mixes it up in a huge bowl, dressing and all, and then pours it into a plastic bowl for you to take. It was delicious! I got a Magic Cookie Bar for dessert. It wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be.

DisneyNovember2009039.jpg

We were given Halloween cups and Christmas napkins. It was kind of weird!! We had this happen a couple more times throughout the week, but most CS places had the Christmas cups & napkins.

DS10 (who ordered off of the kids menu the entire week, thank goodness we had free dining!) got the PB&J uncrustable with grapes and a cookie.

DisneyNovember2009038.jpg

DH and DS8 went to the Grill Shop and DH got the Bacon Double Cheeseburger with fries and cheesecake with strawberries for his dessert. That cheesecake looked so good, I knew I would be getting it the next time we ate here!! DS8 got the kids Chicken Nuggets, fries & a cookie. He didn't really care for the chicken nuggets, but he ordered them a few other places throughout the week when there was nothing else he would eat. He is very picky.

So overall we were very pleased with our meal at the POR food court. The CM's were very nice and helpful and the service was good. DH did say though that there weren't as many choices on the toppings bar (for his burger) as there were at the CBR food court. We used 4 CS credits and the total bill was $38.

LOL- his burger was nekkid with only ketchup on it.:lmao:

Thanks for the shout out. You came up with most of the title.:goodvibes

Can't wait for more.... please get to Epcot soon.

And... on a side note....
could I talk ya into going to WDW the week before T'day next year?:rolleyes1

We did go to Epcot that first night, but don't be expecting anything too great, it was packed and we didn't stay long. The end of Jersey Week. Plus I wasn't feeling well.

So do you mean the week after the week we went? The full week before Thanksgiving? Why??? :yay:

Lucky you! I wish I'd get that pin. It includes our 2010 travel dates.

I say keep the dining reviews in your TR (less tracking threads for me!).
It was interesting to see the room at AB in POR. SO different from the Magnolia Bend rooms in the mansions. It almost seems rustic looking. We enjoyed the food court at POR - lots of variety so we didn't feel like we ate the same old thing. (Well the kids always do! They are picky too).
That's funny about the Halloween/Christmas stuff - I guess they don't do anything for Thanksgiving, so you were stuck in the middle!

Thanks for posting the pictures of the rooms again. I've always been leery of staying at Port Orleans because we are from Louisiana and I'm afraid it would look too much like home. Seeing your room pictures just confirmed it for me. We live in a log house and most of our furnishings and decor are rustic. Oh well, thank goodness there's a resort for everybody.

I have to say that the salad from the POR food court looks incredible. I am a salad girl all the way.

Great start, Shelly! The POR food court looks good! We have never stayed at a Moderate, but I like to see the options the food courts have. I wish the deluxes had that much variety!

I was thinking about it. . . What does everybody think? Should I do a whole seperate thread for dining reviews or do them right here??? :confused3

Doesn't matter where, as long as it's there! :yay:
(Hee hee, I rhymed and didn't even mean to)! YES I'm a dork!:confused3

May be easier for you to just do it all in one place! Although I'm so bummed, I guess the security filter at work doesn't let me see pix, so I'll have to re-read when I get home. Guess I shouldn't complain, my old job, the whole DIS was blocked.

I hope you get it too! :wizard: Did you already book? I just went onto the Disney website and played around with pricing out packages and saving them and then deleting them a few days later and voila I got the PIN!!

It even says ~

"Hello _______ Family

We’re excited you’re thinking about another stay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Come back and experience another colorful island vacation full of fantasy and fun for the whole family!

Click above to check out the Resort photos we picked just for you.

Book now to complete your vacation plans! Or, click here to view other dates and accommodations."

I was pricing out CBR, YC, BW, and WL. I am surprised they are trying to sell me CBR and not the more expensive ones. . . :confused3 DH says it's because they know what I really want!!

Okay, I think I am just going to do the dining reports right here. It will be easier for everyone. Except for maybe the people who just want to read the dining posts! :confused3

Yes, a lot of people say the AB section of POR reminds them of the WL. Very rustic!

Maybe you would like the Mansion section of POR better. Have you visited POR at all? I would recommend taking a few hours to go for lunch and a stroll around the resort to check in out. Plus you can get a big salad!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

That's what worries me about spending a week at a Deluxe -- no food court. Why don't they have them??? We usually eat at the food court about 3 times. I know they all have some sort of CS options, just very limited. Oh well, I guess they make up for it in other ways!

Nice rhyme!! :lmao:

The DIS blocked?! :scared1: Oh my!! Don't they know you need to see my pictures?! :rotfl:

I've already booked the vacation and have been paying on it for a while now. I've registered on the Disney site using two other emails I have. I've priced out vacations, saved vacation offers, etc. and still no darn pin!

Face it, they know they have you and you'll come without a pin code! LOL Someone else on the boards was there for a Food and Wine weekend trip and she got a pin after she got back too. Maybe it's after you get back that is the key. I'll post if I get one after my upcoming trip.

Yay Shelly started her TR!!! What great pics so far. I love that you took a pic of the mickey ear shelf with *pixie* dust (as you say) on them. You think by now Disney would remember to dust that spot but in every room there it is.
The pic of you and Tigger is absolutely priceless. Nothing like Disney to bring out the kid in you! Was it luck or is Tigger there always and I've just never known it?
