9/9/07 Wonder 4-day

Glad everyone had such a good time and made it back safely!

Billy and I had an incredible time - I'm now totally hooked on DCL!

I think we are going to go again next fall. Kids are checking their work schedules and I am waiting for my Disney Chase Card to book. This time on the Magic. We were going to head to the parks but after hearing about our trip, the kids want to cruise again. Any body else gonna go again?

I hope we'll go again! We, too, are talking about our next vacation being a longer sailing on the Wonder. I'm hooked! Maybe it will be for our honeymoon - we got engaged our first night at WDW before the cruise! :)

Thanks Laxman!

I just posted the engagement story in my trip report, over on the Trip Reports board. Once I get to the cruise part, I'll post it over here too. The link is in my signature if you care to read. :goodvibes

Amy, what was your cabin number? Is your fiancee' s name Bill, by any chance? We took a walk around our deck to look for door magnets and saw one that referenced an engagement and the name Amy, I think. Just curious if it was you.

It is official. We are booked on the 5 day Magic Sept 1,2008!:dance3: This time there will be 6 of us! The countdown has begun....or at least it will once I remember how to post a ticker!!

That was us! :goodvibes Glad you saw the magnets. I was surprised at how few I saw in our travels around the ship.

I thought the same thing. I felt we were the only one until we saw yours!! If I had had postie notes I would have left you a note commenting on your sign. I need to add those to the packing list for next time!!

You had 2 signs, as I recall. Nice job, by the way.

Thank you! Though I can only take credit for the non-engagement ones. Bill printed the engagement ones (we switched the magnets up during the trip, we actually had about ten total) as a surprise (obviously). Not bad for a boy who has never been on the DIS! :)

I'll post pictures of them all here soon.

We had a great time as well - I tried to make the meet but I didn't remember exactly where it was! We took a nap as well and woke up late so we just kind of wandered around looking for people who looked like they were meeting!!

Anyone go to Wavebands? We were there every night and had a blast. Our dinner table was so much fun that we cancelled our Palo reservations! We would get together after dinner as well. If you went to Wavebands, the older man that won the John Travolta contest was one of the people at our table. He was a hoot! We also had 4 cast members with us - 3 of whom were a blast. There were a LOT of cast members on board.

Also if you went to Wavebands on karoke night you might have noticed the large group at the bar - one of whom sang and said he worked for "a cruise line" and another who worked for a "theme park in Orlando" We recognized the cruise line guy from a documentary we saw about DCL and one of our CM friends confirmed it. I can't help but wonder if that's why we got the double dip? I think it's pretty rare for them to go back because of bad weather. We had a great time both days - when it rained we ate lunch and then rode bikes. That afternoon I snorkled and it was really very pleasant. The next day we just sat in the water talking to some other couples at the adult beach.

Bill was very surprised with the exotic Rasul and we loved it. We also were upgraded to a porthole room - I don't know what Category it was - but we paid for a Category 12! So we were thrilled. I don't know if it was because it was our 25th or if it was just kismet.

My folks have their 50th anniversary in 1 1/2 years and my mom really wants to take us all on a 7 day Disney Cruise. I sure hope that works out! It was one of the best vacations DH and I've ever had.

Hi Debbie -

We were at Wavebands too, and are really jealous that you had that John Travolta winner at your dining table. He was awesome!

Sounds like we had the same upgrade as you - we went from category 12 to category 9 (oceanview/porthole). It was great to be able to look outside and see if we were moving or if we were already in port (except for the last morning, of course... that wasn't nearly as fun!) :rotfl:

Amy

The porthole really was nice - I enjoyed it much more then I thought I would have - my big thing is I want a totaly black room at night - but with both sets of curtains shut it was plenty dark for me - especially since we were usually exhausted!

If you went karaoke night Bill & I were the ones that sang "Love Will Keep us Together" by Captain & Tenille. Bill was also in the Bon Jovi group on 80's night and the Village People on 70's night! Wasn't Ian a hoot? I think they must inject him with something to keep him going!!

Ok guys, we booked the 5 day, Castaway Cay Double Dip on the Magic for next Sept. (after this cruise we are officially addicts!) Anybody coming along? Oh common, you know you wanna!pirate:

I sooo wish! :)
I'm now addicted to DCL, too, after just that one 4-night cruise. I even have my model of the Wonder sitting on my desk at work. Every few minutes I find myself looking at it wistfully, hahaha...

Actually, we haven't, but it will probably be in 2009 sometime. Bill's sister is engaged and her wedding is in August 2008. Both Bill and I are in her wedding, and, besides, I'm no thunder-stealer! :)

It won't be before April 15th, since Bill is an accountant and during tax season, I'm lucky if I actually see him, never mind for a whole wedding! :lmao:

If I remember correctly, ours came with an onland survivor kit - aka DVD that will make you want to take another cruise. It was a month or more before they arrived after our first cruise.

rjeash, those are the cards you get for being a previous cruiser with Disney. You are automatically a member. Then on your next cruise, you can book your excursions and Palo ressies earlier than the general public. You also have a little gift in your stateroom and a magnet for your door on subsequent cruises with DCL and there is a reception for members onboard your next sailing. This was our first cruise as members; it was kinda cool. Oh yea, and you get DCL lanyards and a set of pins, one to keep, one to trade, at check in.
