Hammock question ....

I noticed on a different thread they were talking about people saving deck chairs/hammocks etc. Some people seem to be pretty set on getting a hammock and keeping it.

What I would like to know is how many hammocks at CC are there? I would like to use one for about 20 minutes or so, just to say I did, and take some pictures .....does this seem possible. Or do I have to be first off the ship to be able to do it. What has your experience been?

Our experience with the hammocks was we just got to see them. :sad1: We were on the adult beach and people just camped by them all day. We took pictures ourselves in Hawaii on hammocks and wanted to do the same on CC. If per chance I get one, I will share it!!!!!!! :)

Rate Queen - Thanks for doing the spreadsheet! Once I get the web site close to finished, that list will help a lot!

DTB - I hope you get power back soon...it was 95 here today in Portland, OR, and we don't have AC at home...can't imagine not even being able to blow a fan around!

Hammocks - I'm not sure how many there are on the family beach, but there are some on Serenity Bay as well. We went to SB in the late afternoon and had no problem getting one.

Todd and I just got back from taking our dog Minnie to see an orthopedic surgeon. We found out she has a ruptured ACL in her left knee. :guilty: She'll be having surgery next week to repair it and will need to be crated for 2 months during recovery...no walking, running, jumping, etc. She will not be a happy doggy, but hopefully she'll be able to walk without pain soon after.

Are we doing the linked dinner seating for the Late seating for this cruise? OR are most people early dining? Thanks :mickeybar

People do tend to get a little nutty about the hammocks on CC. Once people claim "their" hammock, most hardly use it. I see so many just loaded with towels and beach bags all day.

Of course, after our experience on the last trip, I may know why...We got to the family beach early (first family off the ship!), staked our claim to 2 chairs and an umbrella in the front row next to an empty hammock. We all used the hammock for a bit (photo op, mostly) and then just left it empty so that everyone could have a turn. Well, about an hour later, a LOUD family of five (three kids, two crying/whining nonstop!) decided to squeeze in next to us on the hammock. They hauled chairs from the back row and surrounded the hammock, even setting one chair on my flip flops and another on my son's beach toys. They loaded the hammock with their towels and then proceeded to fight, scream and even light a cigar! The dad kept threatening to "smack the you know what" out of the kids if they didn't "shut up!" Our nice day at the beach was over. :furious: Eventually, we just picked up and moved so that we didn't let them ruin our nice day, but still, it was a bit of a hassle. If we had just been rude in the first place and claimed the hammock, we wouldn't have been exposed to those nut jobs. :confused3

Anyway, I'm not promoting hogging a hammock, but I just thought I'd share my tale as a warning! Sometimes being nice just doesn't pay! ;)

I LOVE your backyard! 5dd is sitting on my lap saying *We need a Donald Duck. He was soooo soft when I hugged him.* ;)

I don't think anyone thought of it! We are doing late seating -- really hoping for the 8pm time! That is the time we had on our other 2 cruises and it seemed to work the best for us.

After this experience I can see why you would promote hogging a hammock. It is a shame that other peoples rudenes had to ruin your day. Hopefully you will have a much better CC experience on this trip. I will send some pixie dust your way. :wizard:

Thanks! The whole incident didn't really ruin our day, it just put a damper on things until we decided to move! We still love CC and can't wait to go back! :thumbsup2

8pm works best for us, as well! Not too late, not too early...just right. :thumbsup2

Wan...I hope your dog's surgery goes well. My brother's dog had the same surgery last year...she recovered quickly and has done well ever since. :dogdance:

Early here for us and our family....but i just realized coming from the west coast, we will be eating at 3 pm. I guess that just leaves more room for room service/midnight buffets...LOL :rotfl2:

Great now I'm hungry.....time to have a Mickey Bar :cloud9: . oops still not on the ship...time to have a super diet tasteless rice cake, but I will make it look like a mickey bar.

DisneyGirlTinkerbell - Hope fully your power gets turned back on soon.

Rate Queen-Thanks for putting that sheet together. It was interesting to see how many Kids were on board. You forgot to include the 30-year old kids on your list. LOL

We are also doing late seatinng. Sometime we were a little late for the pirate night. pirate: The only night we have is at Palos on the night of St. Tohmas at 6:30. I hear it is easier to ad peole to our table. If anyone wants to dine with us, just let us know so we can change the reservation. We never was able to reserve one last year. We are anxiouis to try this place. :Pinkbounc

Steve,
How do you do this stuff? :confused3 You amaze me :jumping1:
I haven't tried to post those pictures yet. Will try this weekend. If it still doesn't work I'll probably be doing this, :badpc:
Less than 7 weeks now. I wish I had a Mickey Bar right now, instead of this stupid no tasting piece of cardboard rice cake. :furious: I'm tired of dieting, I just want to stuff my face with cruise ship food. :stir: popcorn:: Sorry, I got carried away, better go back to work.

Oh I love it! Maybe I could make up little cards with that on it and leave them on the hammocks. Better still ... we'll get up early and grab a hammock for Disers to use. Maybe put up a green Mickey, so everyone can have a swing for a little while. :grouphug:

Thanks for your offer to share micmse2003 :teacher: plays well with others
